Sun is shining and temps are at 28°. Roads sound crunchy when cars drive past. It was really weird not to go to OBT yesterday afternoon, but they said that when schools close, we also don't open, so I respected that. Would have been unsafe to try to walk there, and driving might not have been much better. Bob didn't take his van out all day because he was afraid he wouldn't be able to back it in again up the icy sloping driveway. Let's hope that stuff is done for the year. Nice day trip to Madison yesterday for Costco/TJs/Woodmans. Was able to get my Renard's string cheese this time! Got most everything else on our list as well. Nice dinner at Lombardino's - tagliatelle w/truffled mushrooms. I was really hungry and ate the entire portion with ease, and we split a chocolate cherry semifreddo for dessert! Still getting used to passing on wine and cocktails when we go out. There was ample sunshine to enjoy on the drive and fairly mild temperatures. Nice walk to the Farmer's Market in relatively mild temps, about 1 1/2" of fresh fluffy snow, and virtually no wind. And a fresh batch of pastries to show for it. At this point it looks like about 7-8" total accumulated on the railing with more still falling. Wind is pushing things around though. They've closed Bootstrap this afternoon, and the library is closed so I don't think I need to worry about the book due today. Ash Wednesday today. We got about the expected amount of snow last night, a couple of inches, and the big stuff is supposed to hit today into tonight. It should start around 2 pm. Schools are closed today and tomorrow in anticipation. They probably could have held classes today, but I think they thought it would snow more throughout the day and they wouldn't want to bus kids home in blizzardy conditions at the end of the day. I had decided to skip gym because of the weather, so I'll have to do something at home instead. I could probably go, but I'm dressed for home and I think I'll allow myself to be a wuss. What a lovely way to start Valentine's Day! Michael came over when Bob was getting dressed and I was still finishing my face care (though I was already dressed, thankfully) and brought a beautiful bouquet of flowers and a box of chocolate-covered strawberries. He didn't get Bob's text that we were home and wanted to be sure we had returned safely from our trip. He said he is getting hired for Northland, the solar company, tomorrow and is considering selling out of his operation in Ironwood for now. So good to see him, and so considerate of him to remember us on Valentine's Day. The St Maarten trip was amazingly wonderful, and we're very happy to have gotten home safely.
