So nice to see Bagus and Fony and meet their son, Axel yesterday. It was as if no time had passed instead of 30 years. Axel is majoring in computer science so he may well be one of Laura's students this semester. They are settling second son Axel into the dorm in Madison this morning, then driving up to Point, so time is uncertain. Nice walk to Farmer's Market, albeit a bit humid on the return. The woman in front of us in line for pastries was extremely impatient with a young couple at the head of the line who asked numerous questions and took a lot of time. She even accused us (with sort of a smile) of stealing her time when Emma greeted us before starting her order. She finally got her order and we could converse with Emma in peace while we got all our yummy pastries. Yesterday Geoff and I walked down to Skip's church and were given the tour by Mona of all the renovations they have done. It was fun. Geoff and I walked along the river as far as the local planting before I had to be back at OBT for a very quiet afternoon. Ate the prime rib sandwiches from Wheel House for dinner before doing a Schmeeckle walk with Bob and Geoff. Thanks to Geoff we found a new segment of the Ice Age Trail along the Waupaca River that was beautiful, filled with wild flowers. Around 3.5 miles if you walked both directions from the parking area, so a nice manageable length before heading to the Wheel House for pizza and to-go prime rib sandwiches for a dinner here with Geoff. Had a good time at the reunion last night and actually stayed til the end at 11 listening to the band. Bob did his Hanky Panky number with Geoff helping on vocals and looked only slightly petrified. Managed to keep my knees and feet reasonably okay in spite of standing mostly all evening. Kurt and Barb were there, as were John and Kathy. Really nice potluck at the band house in Waupaca last night. Quite a few people I knew, at least tangentially, and everyone was friendly and well-behaved. The food spread was great, one of the best summer potlucks I've been to. Whoever coordinated it made sure that there were all the foods represented, and the grilled meats were great.
