Sun 28 Feb

Was very nice to travel to Madison yesterday, even if we couldn't visit Laura. Had sunny weather all day, comfortably warm to eat in the car. Got to Costco, Woodmans, Star Liquor, and TJs, and had Osteria Papavero Restaurant Week in the car (which unfortunately leaves something to be desired over the actual experience). Food: 8:05 am Eclair w/coffee creme, 101 g blackberries, coffee

Sat 27 Feb

Nice sunny day for traveling to Madison. Won't get to see Laura as she's busy helping Kat prepare to move out to her own condo on Monday. Will get to have a Restaurant Week takeout meal from Osteria. Will look for a picnic table or eat in the car. Good selection of pastries and chance to visit with David. He told us that German pretzels are dipped in a lye bath to give them their dark color. Always something to learn when chatting with David. Food: 8:40 am Cherry danish, 57 g blackberries, coffee

Fri 26 Feb

Laundry day sure rolls around quickly each week. Don't remember Fridays seeming to come so soon when I was working. Taylor got hired at Jungs for the growing season. Don't know the specifics but hopefully she'll like it and be able to continue working for awhile. I'm sure it will help their budget, and it should be good for her self-esteem. Food: 7:50 am Honey bear, 67 g blackberries, coffee

25 February 2021

Thurs 25 Feb

Walking with Kathy again this morning, a somewhat less-frequent event when she is busy with a plethora of other things. Guess I need to get busier, too. Food: 7:50 am Almond croissant, 78 g blackberries, coffee

24 February 2021

Wed 24 Feb

A grey day with light snowfall, but still in the mid-thirties. The change in the weather has made it better for me, for me. Food: 7:50 am Chocolate pecan snail pastry, 101 g blackberries, coffee

23 February 2021

Tues 23 Feb

Another quite warm sunny day, such a change from the last couple of weeks. Certainly a welcome one. Makes the walking sloppy but at least possible outdoors. Food: 7:55 am Chocolate croissant, 101 g blackberries, coffee

22 February 2021

Mon 22 Feb

Oh boy, another week of same old, same old to look forward to. At least I don't feel quite as depressed as I did on Saturday. Got a gibassier for breakfast that I haven't tasted in quite awhile. Pilates class this morning. A couple of inches of fresh snow to make things pretty. Not too bad. Food: 7:50 am Gibassier, 101 g blackberries, coffee

21 February 2021

Sun 21 Feb

Yesterday was a less-than-pleasant day with a feeling of seasonal depression like I haven't experienced in quite a long while. Hopefully it is past and today is a new day. Food: 8:00 am Apricot danish, 101 g blackberries, coffee

20 February 2021

Sat 20 Feb

Chris was there with David's pastries again, including some of the Danish he doesn't like to make in winter. Got a full complement for the week as well as a Scottish stottie, a rather flat round loaf that can be quartered, split, and toasted to hold a good sandwich. It's like Grandma used to make in Scotland. No fish this week, so we got liver instead. Food: 8:45 am Cherry danish, 101 g blackberries, coffee

19 February 2021

Fri 19 Feb

Busy day today. Coalition meeting this morning, yoga class, laundry, and eye appointment at 1:15. Yikes! Food: 7:50 am 2 small chocolate cake donuts w/powdered sugar, 101 g blackberries, coffee

18 February 2021

Thurs 18 Feb

A morning that's not below zero! Unfortunately Kathy isn't free to walk today, but perhaps I'll go out on my own this morning since it's almost balmy at 10° above. Food: 7:50 am Half Costco raspberry lemon muffin, 101 g blackberries, coffee

17 February 2021

Wed 17 Feb

Ash Wednesday today. Services on livestream or recorded from Fr. Tom. Will do our best with fast and abstinence. Had a rough night last night as I swallowed a vitamin carelessly and it lodged sideways in my throat/esophagus for a long time and quite painfully. Had to get up and sit upright in my recliner awhile to let gravity assist in moving it far enough that I could again lay down and fall asleep. Must be more carelful in the future. Food: 8:00 am Half lemon raspberry Costco muffin, 101 g blackberries, coffee

16 February 2021

Tues 16 Feb

A quiet Mardi Gras day, to be sure, at least here. Bob is still suffering from his squishy tummy, I'm no longer going to the gym on Tuesdays, so nothing out of the ordinary. Festivale was yesterday on Animal Crossing and really was a lot of fun. Food: 8:00 am Half lemon raspberry Costco muffin, 101 g blackberries, coffee

15 February 2021

Mon 15 Feb

Hopefully the last of the really bitter cold mornings. Tomorrow is only supposed to be -9°, which sadly is an improvement. And thankfully, it goes upward from there. Can't expect to get through a Wisconsin winter without one bitter cold snap, I guess. Food: 7:50 am Aldi hot cocoa roll, 101 g blackberries, coffee

14 February 2021

Sun 14 Feb

Happy Valentines Day! Coldest morning of the year, I believe; somewhere between -15° and -17° depending on whose figures you want. Wind chills up to -40°! Nasty! Nice to be able to watch church indoors on the internet and not have to venture out into the deep freeze. Food: 8:05 am Aldi cocoa cinnamon roll, 101 g blackberries, coffee

13 February 2021

Sat 13 Feb

Oh, it's cold this morning and the next two mornings are supposed to be far worse, but then the cold streak may start to get a little less awful. We can hope.

12 February 2021

Fri 12 Feb

Scale hit a nasty point today, so need to get serious about cutting back. Again. Also need to start paying attention to water consumption with intent to increase. Food: 8:00 am Honey bear, 101 g blackberries, coffee

11 February 2021

Thurs 11 Feb

Brrrr! -10° for my walk with Kathy this morning. Hiney-freezing weather! Wearing my warmest merino layers this morning, and I'll change into more washable things for Bootstrap this afternoon. Food: 7:45 am Chocolate pecan snail, 101 g blackberries, coffee

10 February 2021

Wed 10 Feb

105 years ago today, my daddy was born. Happy Birthday, Grandpa! Still below zero, though only slightly, and nice sunshine so hard to complain too much. Food: 7:55 am Chocolate croissant, 101 g blackberries, coffee

09 February 2021

Tues 9 Feb

Reconsidered the decision to go into the gym today since a sub is doing Body Flow instead of Miss Ashley and her Yogalates. It's just too cold at -7° and I have been enjoying doing my Pilates mat and some Jessica Smith at home on cold days. We got the TV reconnected to the internet again, so I can do the YouTube videos on the big screen again, so no need to go out in the cold. Food: 8:00 am Pear tart, 101 g blackberries, coffee

08 February 2021

Mon 8 Feb

Only single digits below zero this morning, but still feels mighty cold. The air is drying out from heat and low humidity, so it's getting hard to breathe. Yesterday I was sneezing up a storm as well. Food: 7:50 am Polish napoleon, 101 g blackberries, coffee

07 February 2021

Sun 7 Feb

Had a strange dream that we suddenly had a 3-year-old and a 6-month-old living with us for an indefinite period of time and had to readjust the household to provide for them full-time. Deja vu all over again. Food: 7:55 am Creme horn, 101 g blackberries, coffee

06 February 2021

Sat 6 Feb

The frigid cold is here, likely for the next full week or more. We shall need to dig into the truly warm clothes and the Wisconsin tolerance behaviors. David was at the market in person again today, with eclairs, krema kava?, opera cakes, snails, honey bears, chocolate croissants, creme horns, and pear tarts. We got two of each. Also got eggs and some lamb shanks. The fish lady wasn't there this week. Food: 8:45 am Chocolate eclair, 101 g blackberries, coffee

05 February 2021

Fri 5 Feb

Looks to me like we got about 8 inches of snow yesterday. It was a beautiful snowfall, and even Bootstrap was cancelled for the afternoon so I didn't leave the house at all. Kathy had begged off from our morning walk due to other business, so I did Jessica Smith in the house and had a quiet day. Food: 7:50 am Large palmier, 101 g blackberries, coffee

04 February 2021

Thurs 4 Feb

Today they are predicting a day of nasty weather, although also the last of the mild temps for more than a week. There's apparently a layer of ice already on the sidewalks according to Bob. I sent him out to apply some ice melt as the snow that's predicted is just now starting to fall. Last year when I fell so badly on my wrist, it was from a layer of ice under snow so I'd rather not repeat the performance. Food: 7:55 am Honey bear, 101 g blackberries, coffee

03 February 2021

Wed 3 Feb

So nice to be back to eating David's delicious creations for breakfast again. We are so fortunate to have so many comforts in our lives: central heat in our homes, hot water for showers, nice products for bath and face care, and delicious food and strong hot coffee always there for us. It's good to read stories set in times when these things were not available, if just to remind us how very fortunate we are. Thanks, God! Food: 7:55 am Chocolate croissant, 101 g blackberries, coffee

02 February 2021

Tues 2 Feb

I've pretty well decided to no longer go to the gym on Tuesdays. I don't care for the instructor and I have the capability of doing a good Pilates routine at home, so there's no need to subject myself to another day of the gauntlet through the main gym floor where so many choose not to mask. I even have a foam roller here so I can keep up with that routine. Food: 7:55 am Pear tart, 101 g blackberries, coffee

01 February 2021

Mon 1 Feb

One month down already in 2021! This was one of the mildest Januarys that I can remember. A few cold days, otherwise mostly just chilly. Grey as always, though. Can't complain as there is sunshine today. Food: 7:55 am Chocolate eclair, 101 g blackberries, coffee
