Thurs 24 Aug
An eventful trip to Ironwood. Enjoyed the Kimball Inn west of Hurley so much for our whitefish on Friday that we returned on Saturday for a different meal since they would then be closed until after we left. Saturday we had a great day with a hike at Lake Gogebic State Park, aforementioned dinner at Kimball Inn, and we attended a concert at the Hurley High School with soprano Ann Toomey and accompanist Madeline. Altogether a lovely day. Sunday we walked to church at Our Lady of Peace, then to Ben's Place for mushroom/Swiss omelets. Did the circuit of Super One, though decided our leftovers would be better than deli food for dinner. Did an afternoon hike through Miner's Park in town before a quiet evening in. Monday I woke up feeling like a very bad cold and not enough energy to get out of bed. I stayed in pajamas and in bed almost all day, except for a brief venture downstairs to sleep on the couch. Didn't even have the energy to read or peruse my phone. Was pretty sure it was Co-vid. Didn't eat anything all day and had to force myself to drink a little water. Tuesday I was able to get up and shower and eat my usual breakfast, coffee cake and blackberries. By a little after ten, we went out to Walgreens (me wearing a mask), to buy a Co-vid test kit. Also went to the European Treats store, again me wearing a mask, to pick up goodies. Returned home where I stayed the rest of the day. Have not been worried about step counts since getting sick, but did manage 9/9 today. Test unsurprisingly was positive for Co-vid. Ate about 1 1/3 pieces of the last of my Renards string cheese for lunch. Attempted to walk to Suffolk St Eatery to pick up sandwiches for supper, but about halfway I realized this was too much for me so we returned home for the car. Once we got home, I was pretty spent. At about 4:30, I laid on the couch and went to sleep for about 3 hours, uninterested in eating my dinner. At 7:30, I got up and went upstairs to bed for the night. Was able to get up fairly normally on Wed, have breakfast, and get packed up to leave by 11:00. Fortunately ran into the cleaning lady coming to clean as we were pulling out, so I was able to go over to her car and explain about having Co-vid so she could take more-than-usual precautions and care while cleaning. She was very grateful as she lives with her 87-year-old mother who just had surgery, so she went home to collect better gloves.
