Looks like some beautiful weather in store for Wisconsin for at least a couple of days. We are supposed to have 70+ temps! Awesome!
Tried to do the Rib hike today but got lightheaded and had to sit down and rest for a few minutes. Continued on but cut the hike shorter than usual as I still wasn't up to snuff. Was hungry and perhaps a little dehydrated.

Scale is slowly returning to normal, body is getting reaccustomed to exercise, still have slight vestiges of a tan (if you look closely). I've got to write up a blog entry on the cruise before it flies too far from my mind.
Depending on how the weekend goes, it's possible I may not cook the Easter ham dinner this year. Michael is tentatively planning to go camping with his buds to Devil's Lake, though he promises he will come home in time for church and brunch with Grandma on Sunday morning. If Megumi and clan don't plan to come, dinner would just be Dad and I and Grandma, hardly a group to handle the usual spread. I don't usually invite Leone and Mick for that dinner. Grandma was actually the one who said that if Megumi doesn't come, why bother, so I don't think she'd feel badly. We're planning Bernard's brunch on Sunday.
Food:
7:00 am 3/4 c Kashi Toasted Berry Crumble, 1/2 c light original soy milk, 132 g strawberries, 1/4 large cantaloupe, coffee
12:15 pm Chocolate soy shake, hot cross bun, 1/2 red pepper, 162 g strawberries
4:00 pm Nabisco 100 cal cookie crisps

I'm really hoping that this week is more manageable at work and not so crazy hectic. At least we get half a day off Friday for Good Friday. If you should decide to give Easter Vigil a try at that church we attended on our visit, let me know what it's like. I felt like they had the potential to do a really good vigil service.
I will also look at the library where they usually have a good selection of all the local tax documents. If there is anything related to 1NPR I'll pick it up and send it out.
It truly was a less stressful day at work than the last few weeks. I could have accomplished more, but tomorrow's another day.
Nummers, naan pizza for supper!

Hope you feel better soon (and your apartment gets warmer!) In the meantime, enjoy the weekend by curling up under the blankets with hot tea and a good book or movie and lots of water. Love ya! Sending hugs.....
I have to go through the dining room table today and make sure there aren't Grandma's bills to pay that have disappeared among the other mail and debris. It's so hard to find ambition to tackle the table during the little time I get at home. I'm pleased that the last load of laundry is finishing in the dryer, though I may consider throwing in a load of towels later. I got my ballet exercise done this week so I also feel good about that. It wasn't as hard to get back to it as I had feared after two weeks off.
I was devastated at Trader Joe's yesterday because they only had one box of my favorite cereal in stock. The checkout guy suggested I call ahead during the week if I know I'm driving down so they can set some aside for me.
I think I found the form you're looking for online at http://www.revenue.wi.gov/forms/2009/09i-050f.pdf. Do you want me to print it and mail it to you, or is there something additional you need?
Just booked my flight to/from Portland. I will come out on Thurs, arriving around 4 pm and fly out on Tuesday around 8:45 am.
Food:
8:00 am 125 g morning bun, 181 g strawberries, 1/4 large cantaloupe, coffee
11:45 am 2 eggs, 2 slices bacon, 2 pancakes, 1 tbl whipped butter, 1 tbl pancake syrup, 8 oz OJ, coffee
3:30 pm 1 Irish chocolate
5:15 pm Brown Cow 5.3 oz 0% plain Greek yogurt, slice banana bread, med red pepper, 12 oz light original soy milk
Exercise:

I can't remember the last time before today that I actually slept til 9 am! It felt wonderful! And I did get one load of laundry done last night so I refuse to even consider feeling guilty. One hour later, I have another load in the wash, the big load of light laundry from last night folded and put away, another load ready to pop in, sheets changed and breakfast eaten. And I still have energy!
Hope your sleety cold weekend improves soon. It's 40ish outside here and kind of grey-skied. They're predicting mid-50s the next few days, then possibly 71 by Wed. I won't get as excited this time since the three days of 60-plus they predicted for this week never even got close.
Had a very nice mini-trip to Madison this afternoon. I was a little stressed that I forgot my cell phone so if there were any follow-up issues with Grandma from yesterday's fall, they might not be able to reach me if they didn't have Dad's cell number, but there were no messages on the home or cell phones on return so no problem. We had a very nice meal at Brocach - I love their chicken - and we split a piece of the chocolate cake (more like chocolate pie). We also shopped at Brennan's (in addition to Woodman's and Trader Joe's) and ate our way through a huge variety of samples of fruit, cheese, condiments, etc that was perfectly timed since both of us were starving mid-afternoon from not eating lunch.
Are you ill or is the weather and your apartment just cold today?
Food:
9:45 am 3/4 c Kashi toasted berry crumble, 1/2 c light original soy milk, 1/2 grapefruit, 1/4 large cantaloupe, coffee
11:45 am Co-op homemade energy bar
3:45 pm Variety of samples of fruit, crackers w/condiments and small cheese squares, wine, etc.
6:00 pm Irish coffee, chicken (drumstick, thigh, little bit of white meat), 1/2 c corn/ginger stuffing, 1/4 c mashed potatoes w/gravy, 1/2 c cooked spinach, 1/2 piece chocolate pie, coffee
9:00 pm 12 oz diet A&W root beer

Glad it's Friday and looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow. Didn't get a lot of things put away or organized last night, but did do a little before relaxing with my book and getting to bed on time. Maybe more tonight.
This was a long and stressful work week. Glad it's over and hope next week is better.
Grandma must have known we were talking about her because I got a call from Oakridge shortly after saying she took a fall. I had to meet her at the ER where she had xrays and was pronounced fine if a little sorer for wear. I took her back around 10 pm.
Food:
7:00 am Pear scone, 1/4 large cantaloupe, coffee
11:00 am 1 c popcorn
11:45 am 1 slice banana bread, blueberry soy shake, 1/2 grapefruit, 6 oz Simply Orange juice, 1 pc Irish chocolate

I'm rather glad the week is going by quickly since it's been intense at work. Hiking last night was a pleasant thing, but physically challenging after the long winter. The Great Dane always helps soften the blow afterward. I believe tonight is unscheduled so maybe I can attack the piles on the dining room table of accumulated mail plus trip detritus.
The Core Fusion Pilates workout was pretty intense. Holding poses for extended periods requiring a lot of ab strength. Good workout if not very aerobic.
Found some beautiful, huge cantaloupes at the grocery store in Amherst while taking my client shopping. Can't wait to cut one open tomorrow morning.
Food:
7:00 am 3/4 c Kashi Berry crumble, 1/2 c light original soy milk, 1/2 grapefruit, coffee
11:45 am Blueberry soy shake, 27 g whole wheat bread, 1 tbl Skippy peanut butter, 112 g strawberries, 6 oz Simply Orange juice
2:30 pm 4 c popcorn
5:00 pm 30 g chocolate covered raisins
6:30 pm 101 g chicken drumstick meat, 151 g baked sweet potato, 1 tsp soft margarine, 6 med roasted asparagus spears, 12 oz light original soy milk
8:00 pm Slice banana bread

Weather has been very nice the last few days, getting into the upper 50s by afternoon with sunshine. Didn't make the 60s predicted earlier in the week, but still nice.
Bad morning for snacking. There was a bake sale and I had a weak moment (or several).
At least you're good enough to eat the apple instead. It's murder when the bake sale is sitting there calling your name.
Well, we got out hiking for the first time at Rib so maybe I made up a little for the junk I ate today. It was really hard getting up the hill for the first time of the season.
Food:
7:00 am 3/4 c Kashi Toasted Berry Crumble, 1/2 c light original soy milk, 1/2 grapefruit, 148 g strawberries, coffee
9:00 am O Henry bar, chocolate krispie treat, chocolate-dipped pretzel rod rolled in peanuts
11:45 am Vanilla soy shake, slice 100% whole wheat bread, 1 tbl Skippy peanut butter, 144 g strawberries
2:30 pm Chocolate-dipped pretzel rod
7:30 pm Bowl chicken peanut stew, half Mayan chicken wrap (with almost no chicken), 16 oz ginger ale, 2 oz taster beer
8:45 pm Milk chocolate heart

Jane Fonda Original was tough this morning - I'm pooped. Looks like the overall weight damage from the cruise is just over 5 pounds so I have my work cut out for me. I fully expect that getting back into eating right and regular exercise is all I need to get back to where I was. Plus now that evenings are lighter with DST again, we hope to resume hiking regularly, maybe even this week.
Went to see Grandma last night. She keeps sliding out of her wheelchair and I think it's because the cushion is slippery. I'm trying that Rubbermaid grippy stuff on her cushion to see if that keeps her in place.
Thanks for tagging the photos. I was too lazy.
Food:
7:00 am 1 1/4 c Trader Joe's multigrain flaxseed cereal (finishing the last box on hand), 208 g strawberries, 1/2 c light original soy milk, coffee
1:00 pm Strawberry/banana soy shake, slice 100% whole wheat bread, 1 tbl Skippy peanut butter, extra small banana, 1 Irish chocolate
5:00 pm 1/4 c Cinnamon Omega Munchies caramelized flaxeed walnuts
5:45 pm 115 g Louis Kemp Lobster Delights, 1 tbl melted butter, 1/2 c Pasta Roni Garlic & Olive Oil vermicelli, 1/2 c asparagus, 12 oz light original soy milk

Felt good to get up and exercise this morning, back in the routine. Also felt good to eat sensibly yesterday. Yesterday the scale was higher but I had eaten salty food and not drunk enough water in the airport the day before so today's weight seems a bit more realistic to me. Given that the scale took an unexpected dip right before we left, the overall cruise damage is about 5.5 pounds. Water is likely still a factor, so we'll see how things pan out after a week or two of regular routine. I'm not feeling substantially thicker so I'm not too worried yet.
My errant suitcase arrived by the back door early this morning so all our possessions made it home eventually. I wasn't looking forward to telling Grandma that her present was in the missing suitcase if it didn't show up.
I have an album of trip photos up on Facebook. We'll have to scan in the portraits we purchased (4 8x10s) and post those as well.
The nice thing about being on the boat was that degree of "social-ness" was a choice. There were places and options for social interaction, we just didn't really take much advantage of them. I suspect Michael would have been more apt to go to the clubs if you had been with us so he would have had someone he knew (in his age range) to accompany him.
Came back to work today to one of my longest term clients in this job trying to blow his face off with a gun. Still don't know if he'll survive and/or in what condition. Welcome back to the real world.

Sun 21 Mar - Back at home
Grandma said the phone rang several times last week in the afternoon and evening but she didn't get to the phone in time before they hung up. I told her it might have been you so she thinks you tried to call anyway. I see no reason to disabuse her of that notion. Sorry your week was stressful - hope this one is significantly better!
Vacation was very nice and more relaxing than I expected as we weren't very sociable or party-inclined. We actually spent quite a bit of time in the cabin. It was so nice to have the balcony so it didn't seem cramped. Michael was feeling depressed on and off and didn't want to go out to try to meet people. He enjoyed the movies on the in-room TV and the chance to relish some solitude. Apparently they have visitors at the house most of the time so he enjoyed not having to socialize. He seemed to have fun with us at dinner and on the three excursions. Weather was not as warm as I had hoped. Only Roatan really felt summer-like. We had nice enough sun to lay out on a chaise most afternoons for an hour, but the wind kept it quite cool. The water at Grand Cayman was actually quite cool and took a few minutes to get used to when we swam with the dolphins and rays, and the water in the underground cavern was quite chilly for snorkeling, but the caverns were amazing to see. The hike up the small "mountain" in Roatan could have been quite warm and sticky, but clouds moved in so it was comfortable.
I'm going to try to download my pictures and hopefully figure out how to get them onto Facebook. I was able to do that with my France pics last year, but I was stumped when it came to transferring the Richmond photos. We'll see how it goes this time.
As nice as it was to eat excellent food whenever we wanted it on the trip, it is actually refreshing to return to normal eating today. I didn't run in the mornings on the ship as we had to get going early on excursion days and needed rest on the other days. I actually did not work out at all (bad girl!) but we never once saw the inside of one of the elevators! I figured that going up and down between our floor (deck 12), the buffet/sun deck/lounges on 15-16, and the Piazza with the International Cafe on 5 on a frequent basis provided some of the physical activity we needed.
Our flight from Charlotte to Chicago was delayed over 2 hours on the return, causing us to miss the connection to Madison. They were able to seat us on another flight to Madison so we got in to the airport at about 11;15. We had checked our pilot case carryons through at the gate in Florida at no charge since the planes were full as well as the paid large bag. Three out of four bags made it back to Madison with us. I'm waiting for United to deliver my pilot case to the house. It's annoying, but not nearly so difficult as it would have been if it happened on the way out instead of the return. Our flights down to the ship all went off without a hitch.
Didn't get to bed last night til after 1:30 pm so couldn't manage to get up to do morning exercise. Planned to squeeze it in this afternoon, but wanted to download pictures and get them up on Facebook and ran out of extra time. Don't expect I'll have the energy after choir so I guess I'll have to get back into the routine tomorrow instead of today.
Food:
8:30 am Trader Joe's oatmeal, 1 tsp brown sugar, 2 oz skim milk, 1/2 grapefruit
11:30 am 2 crepes, 3/4 c sliced banana, coffee
2:45 pm Small square dark chocolate
3:45 pm Chocolate chocolate chip cookie (souvenir of cruise)
4:45 pm Cheese fries, 3 oz blackberries, 10 oz light original soy milk, Brown Cow 0% vanilla Greek yogurt

Fri 12 Mar
Debated this morning which was more important: an extra day of exercise given that my activity level will be different on vacation, or an extra hour of sleep. Sleep won. I expect there will be enough to do on the trip that I won't want to go to bed early or nap too often so I felt it would be better to sleep now while I'm home. We're going to try to sleep tonight from 7-12 pm if we can to squeeze some in before leaving.
This was my usual weigh-in morning so I figured it can be my benchmark of how much damage I do on the cruise with eating all manner of good things. Any other day, I would have been delighted that my scale took a downward dip to its new low, 122.2. Now I have that much more to count against whatever it is on my return. I had been hovering around 125 pretty consistently, occasionally down in the 123-124 range. Regardless, I'm sure I'll need to do some extra workouts and watch the food intake pretty closely upon my return to make up for indulgences allowed.
That's a good suggestion to try jogging on the ship. I wouldn't be moving fast enough to be a hazard to anyone and it would be more interesting than jogging on a street.
Food:
7:00 am 1 c Trader Joe's multigrain flaxseed cereal, 2 oz light original soy milk, 2 oz skim milk, 1/2 grapefruit, coffee
11:00 am 2 pancakes, 1 tbl whipped butter, 1 tbl pancake syrup, coffee

2:30 pm 1 pc Russell Stover, 100 cal pack Oreo Cakesters
5:45 pm Cheese fries, 117 g mango, 67 g baby carrots, 12 oz skim milk

I don't know if it's because my blood pressure is usually very low in the mornings, but doing Prog 4 on the treadmill was a killer today. I only had a short time for exercise as I have to leave at 7:00 am for a conference in the Dells so I decided a half hour on the treadmill was in order. My heart was really thumping and I had to slow the pace down on the machine a bit twice. When I went up to the bathroom about 15 min later, my face was still flushed.

I'm very tired today in spite of a decent night's sleep. Feel like I'm running on fumes today. Had to drag myself down to exercise and push through to stay on task. Hope the day improves.
Heard on public radio yesterday that RAs at UW may be the first group in the state to be allowed to unionize without the full ratification process. Didn't catch all the details, but you might be union if you go the RA route.
Unions tend to usually be a good thing. Mine gave you a $5000 scholarship!
Kurt and Barb are going to Jordan-sit for us while we're gone since Nick didn't do a good job last time and Pete wasn't interested. We'll take them out for a really nice dinner. They stopped over and learned the ropes tonight.

I suspect it will be hard to concentrate on work this week before vacation; it usually is. Hopefully it will be slightly less hectic than the last few weeks so I don't feel neglectful.
Sunny, 50-degree weather is absolutely awesome in March in Wisconsin. Everyone is walking around with smiles on their faces.
Thank you for sharing the Daily Kos entries. It is truly unimaginable that so-called "Christians" can behave so abominably to anyone, much less their own children. Thank God that family produced one true Christian in the aunt. Hopefully her example will lead the young man to realize that the entire world is not as ill as his parents.

I'm tired today. Had a 45 min nap yesterday afternoon which got me through the day. Hopefully I can squeeze one in again today. I was dragging through the ballet session.
Felt bad because I got a little frustrated with Grandma this morning, hopefully not too bad. She was having trouble getting up from the wheelchair and didn't seem to want to help with the process. We made it okay though.
I am pumped about the cruise upgrade to a balcony cabin. I wouldn't have paid the price difference, but it will be very nice to have it.

Hoping today is less hectic. I get my resqueeze mammogram today and will have immediate results; again, I don't expect they will see anything other than the fibrous masses that have been there for years.
Mammogram successful - nothing but dense normal tissue as before. Good for another year. Morning somewhat hectic but not quite as bad as last couple of days.
Glad you have secured an apartment. Another new neighborhood to get used to finding. Soon we will know all of Madison well. I'm looking forward to having a good excuse for monthly visits to Madison for Trader Joe's, Woodman's and good restaurants with hopefully occasional visits from you to Stevens Point now that you'll have transportation. Hope you will always be safe!
I didn't accomplish everything I wanted to at work this week, but I just ran out of time. Happens some times.
Food:
7:00 am 1 c Trader Joe's multigrain flaxseed cereal, 1/2 c light original soy milk, 1/2 grapefruit, coffee
11:45 am Strawberry/banana soy shake, small portion mac n' cheese, 1/2 c red pepper strips

5:45 pm Spiced rum/diet coke, small iceberg salad w/Caesar dressing, 6 oz brown sugar salmon, 1/2 c mashed potatoes,
1/2 c broccoli, dinner roll, 1 pat soft margarine, lemon meringue pie, coffee

Grandma moves to her new digs this morning. I'm going to get her at 9 am, pack up the few things she has at the nursing home, and take her to Oakridge. They have a surprise welcome back party planned for her so she'll be all flustered. I just hope she likes how I have her apartment set up. I expect we'll be rearranging things as she decides she'd like things elsewhere. Last thing remaining to do is to get a phone for her that's simple enough to use and has speed dial settings that don't require seeing a menu. I never did find the phone from her old apartment.
She's all moved in except for a phone which I hope to deal with this evening. She really seemed to enjoy eating lunch with her friends. So many people stopped by to welcome her back, and her party didn't even start til 1 pm! Hope she does well.
Finishing this entry Fri morning because I was so exhausted I fell into bed as soon as we got home from supper. I was too tired to cook and people have told us that the Golden Corral buffet restaurant really does have good food and is nothing at all like Old Country Buffet. We were going to try it Saturday but it was too crowded so we decided to go tonight, but it was after 7:00 before we left. I almost fell asleep in my food. Ate way more than usual protein, but that may not be a bad thing. I needed to restore my strength.
I did buy a phone for Grandma but it doesn't have an answering system so I may get a separate unit that hooks up to it. I wanted a phone in place last night so she can enjoy calling Leone and all. I did get frustrated trying to explain to her how to use it and how to find the buttons she needs, but I did the best I could.
Food:
8:00 am 116 g cinnamon scone, 1/4 med cantaloupe, coffee
11:45 am 4 oz beef liver, 1/2 c capri vegetable blend, 1/2 c mashed potatoes, 2 tbl gravy, coffee, small pc strawberry shortcake
2:30 pm Ginger cookie w/cream cheese frosting
7:15 pm 3 oz fried catfish, 2 hush puppies, 3 small coconut shrimp, crab cake, 4 oz steak, 1/2 c sauteed mushrooms, 2 spears broccoli, 4 spears asparagus, 1 1/2 c fruit salad, chocolate truffle, chocolate volcano cake w/whipped cream, 1/4 c vanilla soft serve w/turtle toppings
Exercise:

It was unusually difficult to get out of bed this morning. Just wanted to stay in and sleep. Unfortunately, that wasn't an option.
Taking Grandma to her eye appointment in Wausau this afternoon. Have to call back and schedule a follow-up mammogram; the radiologist saw suspicious dark areas on both sides. I'm not concerned at this point as I have had this experience many other times. It sometimes helps if the first tech really squeezes them down and she didn't do this. So back for the next round. Scheduled for Friday morning.
Food:
7:00 am 1 c Trader Joe's multigrain flaxseed cereal, 1/2 c light original soy milk, 1/4 med cantaloupe, coffee
11:45 am Blueberry soy shake, slice banana bread, 140 g strawberries
6:00 pm Onion strings, 4 oz shoulder beef steak, 1 1/2 c broccoli w/1 tbl hollandaise, chocolate cake w/mint creme filling and 1 tbl hot fudge sauce

Starting to make itineraries and double check packing lists for our trip. Wish you were coming too! Any word on when your group goes to Texas?
Mammogram this morning. Squish those babies!
True, it will be nice for you to have a whole week in Oregon, and we may get to spend some/most of it with you there. Not even thinking that far ahead til this vacation's done.
Hoping to have the energy to bake banana bread after piano lesson. Have 3 extremely ripe bananas. Decided to start the bread before my lesson and pop it into the oven so it could bake while I was gone. I got home in plenty of time to tend the baking.

Happy March! Hope the wine festival was fun and safe. Hope you got some good wines to savor over the next few weeks/months. Sorry I missed your conversation with Dad last night but I was ready to fall into bed.
Glad the expo was fun and gave you some new destinations to check out. I had lunch with some former coworkers at Matsu Ya, but I had too many fried things. Poor choice, but they had arrived first and Shannon's tempura shrimp looked so good.
