31 March 2026

Tues 31 Mar

End of March. Still am not sure if it's going out like a lamb or a lion. Definitely cooler today and the sky is such that it could portend mischief. Only thing on my agenda today is practice for Holy Thursday choir at 6:30 tonight. Food: 7:50 am 86 g honey bear, 101 g blackberries, coffee

30 March 2026

Mon 30 Mar

Predicted to be another lovely mild day today before getting cold again, potentially snow again Thursday. This is Holy Week, so much singing, church-going, etc. Choir practice tonight, practice for Holy Thursday tomorrow night, service on Holy Thursday, 2-hour rehearsal Sat morning for Easter vigil Saturday night, choir Mass (7:15 meet) for 8 am Mass on Easter, and cantor at 10:30 on Easter. Praying that my voice holds out through the whole gamut. Mary Hofer said she might come cantor with me at 10:30 if she doesn't end up doing anything with her kids; would be nice to have her support. Food: 7:50 am 123 g concha, 105 g blackberries, coffee

29 March 2026

Sun 29 Mar

Cantored for Palm Sunday Mass last night for Kathy B as she suddenly got an illness which stole her voice. Hope she gets it back quickly as she is scheduled to sing for most if not all the Holy Week/Easter services. And I sincerely hope it doesn't hit me or Bob with all our commitments for services as well. Food: 7:50 am Chocolate Hazelnut croissant, 103 g blackberries, coffee

28 March 2026

Sat 28 Mar

Walked to the indoor Farmer's Market this morning and loaded up on fresh-baked pastries. Also a dozen eggs and some chocolate sugar cookies. In a couple of hours, we will march with the No Kings rally with our newly-made signs. Mine says: GOVERNMENT Of the People, by the people, for the people, ALL the people." Bob's says: "Votes for all" with No Kings symbols. Planning to go to church tonight so we have tomorrow free if either Laura or Axel gets back to us regarding a visit. They have Spring Break this week, so might either or both be headed elsewhere for some R&R. Food: 9:00 am 149 g fruit/cream cheese danish, 103 g blackberries, coffee

27 March 2026

Fri 27 Mar

Bob spent quite a bit of time fixing the weather station yesterday. Apparently the battery wore out in the outside unit, but getting it to work again with the inside display was complicated. Seems to be working fine again now. Chilly this morning, a little warmer later. Food: 7:50 am 105 g Costco peach pastry, 103 g blackberries, coffee

26 March 2026

Tues 26 Mar

March is winding down quickly. Weirdly warm this morning if our thermometer from the weather station is correct - 68° Bob thinks the battery must be going. I'll check Wunderground to see if it corresponds; it says it's 42° which is much more likely. Food: 7:50 am 40 g caramel apple pastry, 23 g mini beignet, 103 g blackberries, coffee

25 March 2026

Wed 25 Mar

Should be nice again today. Walking to HSP for the Spirit Lunch in order to hear Gregg Hansel speak about Partnering Together. Hoping to pick up some more current information since the pipeline is not very reliable. Food: 7:50 am 108 g Costco peach croissant, 103 g blackberries, coffee

24 March 2026

Tues 24 Mar

Milder temps for a couple of days at least. Need to take my books back to the library today, as I didn't get to the library yesterday. Food: 7:50 am 43 g caramel apple pastry, 63 g mini beignet, 100 g blackberries, coffee

23 March 2026

Mon 23 Mar

Weather will slowly get a little milder over the next week or so. Hopefully no more white stuff. Starting to get mentally prepared for St. Martin; need to start packing soon. Food: 7:45 am 105 g Costco peach pastry, 103 g blackberries, coffee

22 March 2026

Sun 22 Mar

Had a really nice day yesterday. Drove over to Appleton in the afternoon and did a little Costco. Found a few things to take to St Martin as well as replenishing our AA batteries (which was the original errand). Got some new pastries to try. Topped it off with wine and dinner at Mondo by the River, and bought 3 bottles of Juan Gil to bring home. Saw Crystal from the winery and spent some time chatting with her. Food: 7:45 am 65 g Costco cinnamon loaf, 103 g blackberries, coffee

21 March 2026

Sat 21 Mar

Was sleeping quite soundly when the final alarm went off this morning, and still feeling a bit groggy. Should be a nice warm day today, possibly getting near 70°. Just for the day, though. Food: 7:45 am 68 g Costco cinnamon loaf, 100 g blackberries, coffee

20 March 2026

Fri 20 Mar

Warmer again through at least tomorrow. Should decrease some of the snow piles. Nothing scheduled except Body Pump and laundry today. Food: 7:50 am 92 g Costco cinnamon loaf, 105 g blackberries, coffee

19 March 2026

Thurs 19 Mar

Getting steadily warmer for awhile, so maybe some of the snow will disappear. Ruth's funeral was beautiful and Fr. Tom gave a very nice homily. He concelebrated with Fr. Steve. Food: 7:50 am 84 g Kirkland cinnamon loaf, 102 g blackberries, coffee

18 March 2026

Wed 18 Mar

Going to get a little bit warmer today, I believe. Funeral for Ruth Kulas this morning. She was truly a treasure. Food: 7:45 am 82 g Costco cinnamon loaf, 102 g blackberries, coffee

17 March 2026

Tues 17 Mar

Happy St Paddy's Day! So our schizophrenic weather turned bitter cold today. Current temp is 4°. Will solidify the snow on the ground, but then in a few days, it will warm up and start to melt. Yikes! Food: 7:50 am 124 g blueberry cheese croissant, 104 g blackberries, coffee

16 March 2026

Mon 16 Mar

Happy Birthday, Bob! For his birthday, even more snow and the wind moved around that which had been cleared. I am going to try to walk to Franciscans to help supervise the shelter option for our homeless folks. Joanne and Jane were going to be there at 6:30 am, but I'm just not that good a soul so I'm shooting for 9 am. I figure if any of the early folks then need to leave, I can relieve them. I'm hoping more reinforcements will come at noon when they would normally open, but I suppose it depends if they can get there. Not so sure how I'll do walking in this wind and deep snow. Food: 7:50 am 117 g blueberry cheese croissant, 102 g blackberries, coffee

15 March 2026

Sun 15 Mar

The winter storm is here. Quite a bit of snow down already, I'd estimate 8-9 inches based on the porch railing which usually doesn't get blown too much. I heard sleet when I first woke up. Visibility isn't great. Supposed to continue all day into Monday. Food: 7:45 am 118 g blueberry cheese croissant, 102 g blackberries, coffee

14 March 2026

Sat 14 Mar

Started celebrating Bob's birthday early last night with a walleye fish fry at Michele's. They brought him a birthday sundae which we shared for dessert. Today we are heading down to Madison to lunch with Laura and get our errands done. We're leaving right after breakfast to hopefully get home early enough to beat the March blizzard in the forecast for the remainder of the weekend. Let's see if we really get slammed as badly as they're saying. Food: 7:45 am 92 g Costco cinnamon loaf, 100 g raspberries, coffee

13 March 2026

Fri 13 Mar

Haven't had a Friday the 13th for awhile. Snow came in first wave last night as predicted about 1-2" of wet stuff, looking pretty slushy out there. Enough to get us prepared for a possible onslaught over the weekend. 7:50 am 67 g Costco cinnamon loaf, 81 g raspberries, coffee

12 March 2026

Thurs 12 Mar

Snow forecast just keeps going up and up for this weekend. Remains to be seen what actually occurs. Bootstrap and OBT board meeting tonight, with possibly a little snow today as well. Food: 7:50 am 77 g Costco almond croissant, 86 g raspberries, coffee

11 March 2026

Wed 11 Mar

The snow forecast for the weekend has been upped again to a true March dumping. We'll see if they know what they're talking about. I think Nichol should be there for Body Pump today. Was quite exhausted yesterday after Pilates, so we'll see how my body reacts today. Food: 7:55 am 70 g Costco almond croissant, 62 g blackberries, coffee

10 March 2026

Tues 10 Mar

Choir practice went fine last night. Tonight is HSP Committee meetings, otherwise the day is unscheduled. The fine weather from yesterday is just a memory now, not expected to repeat for awhile. Food: 7:45 am 67 g Costco almond croissant, 92 g blackberries, coffee

09 March 2026

Mon 9 Mar

They're saying it might reach 66 today - will feel like being back in Spain. I can get into that. OBT this afternoon and choir practice tonight. Food: 7:50 am 76 g Costco croissant, 100 g blackberries, coffee

08 March 2026

Sun 8 Mar

Choir went well, fun at Bill's after Mass. Cantor this morning, so double Mass this weekend. Something going on every day this week. Changed to Daylight Savings time today, so still a little discombobulated. Food: 7:50 am 72 g Costco almond croissant, 106 g blackberries, coffee

07 March 2026

Sat 7 Mar

Really foggy when I got up this morning. Looked like someone had smeared the picture outside my bedroom window. Getting a little better now. Choir sings for Mass tonight, followed by a few going to Bill's Pizza. I have to cantor again tomorrow at 10:30. I need to spend some time on the music today as I don't know everything well. Food: 7:50 am 70 g costco almond croissant, 102 g blackberries, coffee

06 March 2026

Fri 6 Mar

Bone density scan and mammogram to start the day today. Don't mind missing the gym as Nichol is gone and they're having Hard Core which I usually opt out of anyway. Going to Fish House with Chef Christian tonight; the menu looks wonderful. Planning on a lobster spring roll, maybe seafood gumbo, and a salmon salad. Food: 7:05 am 120 g paczki, 102 g blackberries, coffee

05 March 2026

Thurs 6 Mar

I don't have my mammogram til tomorrow; don't know why it was originally scheduled today. It will be back-to-back with a bone density scan early tomorrow. We have reservations for Chef Christian's Fish House in the evening. Food: 7:55 am 127 g raspberry paczki, 103 g blackberries, coffee

04 March 2026

Wed 4 Mar

Going to sit with Leone this morning while Mick goes to pick up his new car! He is leasing, I believe from a place in Wausau. He was already able to sell his old car for parts for $400 and get it out of the way yesterday, so he's ready to go. His friend, Jeff, is taking him up to get the new wheels. This will be my first visit with Leone since returning from Spain. Mick said she had a little fall yesterday, but was checked out by the hospice nurse and seems okay, if a little sore. Won't get to gym, but since Nichol is gone and they're offering Hard Core Strength, I wouldn't have gone anyway. Food: 7:15 am 115 g plum ponczka, 105 g blacbkerries, coffee

03 March 2026

Tues 3 Mar

Breaking into the paczki from KD in Chicago. Ate the poppy seed and cinnamon rolls first. Had one of their grilling sausages on the grill last night. Labs this morning to see how the citrus bergamot is performing on my cholesterol. Food: 8:40 am 163 g black currant paczki, 103 g blackberries, coffee

02 March 2026

Mon 2 Mar

It will be very nice to get a new furnace and have the house comfortably heated again. We are most fortunate that the gas fireplace is so effective in throwing out heat, and also that the temperatures are supposed to moderate quite a bit this week. Back to One Big Tent today; it will be nice to return. Also back to choir practice tonight; that will also be nice. Food: 7:45 am 101 g cinnamon roll, 103 g blackberries, coffee

01 March 2026

Sun 1 Mar

March already. Belt's opens on Friday, Daylight Savings time returns next Sunday. The year marches on. The furnace has pretty much died, only blows the fan to circulate what heat is thrown off by the fireplace and occasionally the space heaters. The bathroom was chilly this morning and the hot water from the shower gave off clouds of steam. Coldest Night of the Year was a resounding success last night. We earned over $35,000 for One Big Tent. Food: 7:45 am 104 g cinnamon roll, 106 g blackberries, coffee
