Sat 5 Dec

Heading out soon to Amherst, land of bake sales, craft sales, etc. Last year we found the old-fashioned light-up toy soldiers that will soon sit out on the front steps again. It's a good place to buy a variety of cookies so I'm not tempted to bake large batches of anything besides the sugar and molasses cookies. I just enjoy the day.

Amherst was fun; bought lots of goodies, our usual pine wreath for the front of the house and a gold sparkly wreath for the front door that will show nicely on the dark wood and be reusable from year to year. Shared a fresh pasty at the Amherst bakery since the usual soup and quiche people weren't at the Jensen Center. Will need to sample the goodies sparingly (if I can) and maybe share them out with family and friends.

OK, 1 pm and I've had my sugar fix with holiday goodies. But then the stress of putting the tree up kicked in and I needed a sandbakkele to tide me through. But I'm cooking up a pot of bean soup for supper so I should be good there.

We have all been anxiously awaiting the shipment of the replacement hot tub heater as the old heater died just before the weather turned cold. Today the package finally arrived, but the company sent us a pump instead of a heater. Sigh.
