Bob is still working over at Michael's to install the new shower, so I walked by myself to the Farmer's Market for pastries just for today and tomorrow. Amazing that even dressed in my coolest beach dress and seeking whatever shade I could find, I still am all sweaty at 8:30 in the morning. Gave in and turned on the air around noon yesterday and it's not going off today. Don't expect to get in a lot of walking either. Steps will likely be from lapping the living room in the A/C. Sad.

The hot is here! Hanging my sheets out first thing this morning since a 10 am Walk for Hope meeting precludes going to the gym, at least for Body Pump. I will figure out something else for exercise today and get my laundry done as much as possible before it gets too hot. May have to break down and turn on the air at some point if the house heats up too much.
Learned yesterday that Michael co-owns a house in Ironwood, MI with Jeremy and is applying for residency there so he can start a legal medical marijuana business. He has grand plans that he will earn mega-bucks doing what he likes best, and doing it legally this time. He will live there and Taylor will stay in the house here with Aaron; they will travel back and forth on weekends. He expects to keep that up for five years, then they will get married and she will come to live with him in the UP and take care of a large garden. Wonder how long he will be able to maintain.
HOT!!! Walked to meeting at hospital and back and hung out clothes and am dripping. Michael and Bob offered to bring me a sandwich from Cousins when they picked up lunch - nice surprise!

No walk with Kathy today as her mom is actively dying. She has been ready for a very long time, so it is a blessing that she is finally making the journey. Kathy was planning to go back to the home this morning to spend some final time with her. We were able to have a long conversation on the phone last night, so I could explain that if she does pass soon, we will likely be at the North Shore when the funeral is held. Kathy was very understanding.

Rain possible in the forecast today, and the skies are somewhat more overcast. I felt like a little lie-in this morning so I didn't get up til about 7:15. Nothing on the agenda til my hair appointment at 1:30, so no reason not to indulge myself a little. It's a rare occasion that I do so.

Beautiful sunny Sunday. I cantor and Bob ushers at 10 am Mass, then nothing on the schedule for the day. Maybe we will be able to take a drive and/or hike somewhere to enjoy the amazing day. If not, I can always take a long walk somewhere local.

Had a very nice hike (all the way to the top!) at Rib yesterday and followed it with a lovely fish/shrimp fry at Pinewood in Mosinee. The dining room was full so they seated us in a little area of tables in the bar area with a glass partition from the bar itself. We had it to ourselves and it was very nice.
Saw David in person at the Farmer's Market today, first time in a long time. He said he has been concentrating on his baking and leaving the selling to others.

Had a great time at Bill's porch party last night. Lots of old friends/coworkers there. Hadn't see RaeAnn Thomas in probably 20 years. Talked with Laura Goetz, Linda Weitz, Cate Gitter (who I discovered owns a B&B in Virocqua that might be worth checking out). Elaine Wrone was there and many others. Good time had by all.

Happy summer solstice! Yesterday was productive, albeit expensive. I planned our spring break for next year. Using a low-cost airfare from Next Vacay, I booked us in to Paris and found a lovely little flat to rent for 9 days over Bob's birthday. Springtime in Paris! Airfare was less than $1000, the apartment is a little over $1200, so even with food, it hopefully won't be considerably more expensive than our usual winter break beach vacation, though of course it also won't be as warm and sunny. But hey, it's PARIS!!! Already suggested Bob switch his Duolingo to learning French.
Slept a little later than usual this morning as Kathy is out of town and I had a rough time with my hips in the middle of the night so I took Ibuprofen, but not until 4 am. Once it kicked in, I rested much more comfortably.

Back from Laura's. She really seemed to appreciate my help and it was nice time together. Freed her up to relax a bit, and she found a really good price on a flight to Denver to look for housing there. Michael really liked his hydration pack birthday present, so the kids are both doing well.
Wish my lower tract would normalize again and the muscles relax so I can move and bend normally again.
Food:
7:45 am Pecan raisin pastry, 101 g blackberries, coffee
12:15 pm Greek black cherry yogurt, 1/2 cinnamon raisin scone

Happy 27th birthday, Michael! Heading down to Madison after gym and Duolingo today to help Laura ready the house for her realty photographs so she can get the condo on the market. She was pretty stressed that Jude does nothing to help and she had to shoulder the entire responsibility on top of her dissertation work. She seemed pleased that I offered to come down to help and accepted readily. I expect to stay through much of Tuesday.
Food:
7:40 am Chocolate prune pinwheel pastry, 102 g blackberries, coffee

Sun 17 Jun
Happy Father's Day! Another hot one forecast today. It was hot in Madison yesterday, but we had the A/C on mild as we drove down so we stayed comfortable. We were in stores much of the time and the places we ate were good, too. We ate outside on the patio at La Brioche for lunch, but it was shady and not too hot. We did just one order of the Beer & Curds and ordered other food to go with. I had a burger that was quite good with yam chips.
Laura continues to be frustrated by Jude who hasn't paid rent since March due to losing his job and not finding another one. He isn't willing to just take a fill-in job like working in a kitchen so she is subsidizing his food as well. He is working for a friend's political campaign and may be getting a little money as he is still paying utilities at least. He is likely depressed and doesn't lift a finger to do anything around the house, doesn't share in the cleaning, etc. She needs to get the house ready to have a realtor photographer come in so she can get the house on the market, and she has been so busy with preparing for her meet and finishing her dissertation that she has trouble getting the energy for a big clean. I volunteered to come down tomorrow afternoon and stay through Tuesday to help her.
Remembered to wear my Fitbit to walk to church today. Very glad, since it is quite warm and I wouldn't fancy having to make up the count.
Food:
7:50 am Apricot danish, 102 g blackberries, coffee
Exercise:
9:35-10:00 am Walk (leisurely in heat) to church
11:05-11:25 am Walk home

Looking like a very hot weekend to come, forecast in the low 90s. We're heading down to Madison today and will probably have to succumb to the air conditioning in the car. Oh well. Time to walk to the Farmer's Market while temps are still tolerable.
Even at this hour when the temperature isn't too high, there's enough humidity in the air to make you sweat just walking back and forth to the Farmer's Market. Got some of those yummy organic chicken eggs and am boiling a couple to go with our pastry breakfast.
Food:
8:50 am Blackberry danish, 101 g blackberries, boiled egg, coffee
Exercise:
7:50-8:25 am Walk to Farmer's Market and back

Thunderstorms this morning, so at least a little cool air blowing into the bathroom this morning. The weekend is forecast to be nasty hot, so it's great that the growing things get a little natural water to sustain them through it.
Using the new coffee maker for the first time today. Bob got fed up with the deterioration of the old one and ordered an inexpensive Hamilton Beach model that Consumer Reports said is very good. We will give it a run.
Food:
7:15 am 1 c Quaker Oat Squares, 1/2 c soy milk, 103 g blackberries, coffee
1:30 pm Greek black cherry yogurt, med peach (underripe), piece of nougat candy bar

Looking forward to walking with Kathy again today after two weeks absence. Also hoping a long walk will loosen up the poop blockage high in the colon unless hopefully it will release on its own before I walk. It is making it difficult to bend but it is still moving, albeit slowly. It's weird to feel poop moving through your system.
Food:
7:15 am Cherry almond coffee cake, 100 g blackberries, coffee
10:30 am Waffle cookies
1:25 pm Greek black cherry yogurt, 162 g strawberries, diet iced tea

Tues 12 Jun
Today is a DOMS day, big time! I worked very hard in the gym yesterday after two weeks off and I am paying the price today. I need to do some gentle stretching today in addition to walking. The upside of the hard work along with 23,000+ steps yesterday is that I slept really well. And the scale that was up to 152+ when I returned from vacation has been coming down a pound a day.
Food:
7:50 am Costco cherry almond coffee cake, 100 g blackberries, coffee
12:00 pm 2 hard boiled eggs, English muffin w/butter, 172 g strawberries
1:10 pm Piece of nougat candy bar

Time to get back into routine again. Gym this morning, then need to return library books and maybe walk over to Human Services and write on the card for Mo. Supposed to be sunny and 77 so should be a nice day. Trying out my new gym shorts from Groupon, and trying them commando after reading an article on the need (or lack of need) for underwear under gym clothes on SparkPeople.
Felt really good to exercise, but I'm a noodle afterward!
Food:
7:30 am Costco cherry almond coffee cake, 100 g blackberries, coffee
12:10 pm Slice Omega 3 bread, 1 tbl Jif, 1 tbl raspberry jam, 172 g strawberries

Home again, and starting a regular Sunday, albeit a restful one without choir practice. I'll likely do laundry this afternoon to get even more back to normal.
Trip was amazing; I'll try to sit down and do a play-by-play while it's still relatively fresh in my mind. For now, I just want to eat breakfast and have a little down time before church.
Food:
7:25 am Costco cherry-almond coffee cake, 158 g strawberries, coffee

We're back! What a nice vacation with the Viking cruise and the time in Amsterdam. All went very well except for coming down with a cold today. Cruise was amazing and really enjoyed all the places we visited en route. B&B in Amsterdam was great and we had a blast tooling around on the trams.
