Sat 31 May

Busy day - changed over from flannel to summer sheets/duvet covers, laundry, exercise, try to squeeze in 10 min tanning, and leave at about 1 pm for St. Mary's.

Bishop Listecki was the guest of honor at St. Mary's today - very refreshing. He fit in about as well as I do. He just sat on the sidelines during the service and watched, and his homily was very down-to-earth. I don't think the St. Maryites knew what to make of it.

Nummers! I'll be salivating at the airport. Thanks for the warning - I'll be sure to limit pre-flight snacks. I bought a box of Archer Farms cookies for in-flight snacks, but I'll just tuck them into a suitcase. We can always munch them in Oregon instead.

Guess what I got in the mail today? A baby shower invitation for Fishy!!! She said she would love to see both of us soon. Her phone number is 715-630-3137 and her address is 1513 Brenda Dr, Plover, WI 54467. The shower is on Sat, June 28 at noon. Unfortunately, we'll be camping that weekend, but maybe if you can get home one weekend over the summer, we can arrange a time to meet her for lunch or something. Mon 19 May

I think it's a good sign that this job change was the right choice because it's Monday morning and I'm actually looking forward to going back to work. I sent an email to my old boss Linda, and in her reply she said she could hear the change in my enthusiasm. It's a good feeling.

I don't like the nonfat 8th continent as well as the Light. They put more sugar in to make up for the absence of fat so it actually has more calories, but I feel like the sugar taste is not as satisfying as the other.

Sat 17 May

Another nice day, at least til it rained. Got up early and bought plants for the yard at County Market. Dad and I drove down to Baraboo for the Faire on the Square, while Michael had planned to spend the day at Hannah's. When we got home, there was a bag of Hannah's swimsuits and Michael's ring from her on the back outside shelf and the neighborhood kids told Bob that Michael had texted them that he broke up with Hannah today. He finally responded to our messages and called home to say they broke up over the phone this morning and he spent the day with Nick Kubisiak instead.

I like Hannah well enough, but I'd actually be glad to see Michael get to date a few other girls while he's in high school. I guess we'll just have to see how it plays out for him. Dad talked to him and said he didn't sound too upset, as though the breakup is his idea.

Fri 16 May

I'm pumped - scale was down to 132.8 this morning! Nice to see progress!

We went out to Partners to see my friend last night, but it turned out to be a different Kevin Moore. No relation, I asked; I had wondered if it was his son since this guy appeared to be in his 20s. We didn't stay long.

Thinking about driving down to Baraboo on Saturday just for the Art Faire. They have a really nice one that fills the downtown. If the weather is nice, it would be fun and a reasonable day trip. I've invited Michael and Hannah, but not sure if they have other plans.

Thurs 15 May

Well, it looks like we aren't going camping this weekend after all. Michael's two friends that were going to come with us both came up with last-minute schedule conflicts and he wants to wait til they can come along. We already paid for the campsite ($82 for the weekend- yipes!), but the campground will allow us to change the reservation to another weekend. I've given Michael alternate dates to discuss with the others, but if they can't come up with anything, we'll just have to pick one for ourselves.

Actually, the chance to relax at home this weekend while preparing for Oregon doesn't sound too bad. Might even have time to plan what to pack!

Hope your project came out okay and you will finally get a chance to relax soon. Let me know how you're doing once everything is handed in and you're officially done. Any big plans for the weekend? Is Keaton having a graduation party?

I'll be thinking of you at 3 pm. Enjoy your evening of relaxation for a change tonight! I may actually stop in at Partner's Pub at 9 pm if I can still muster energy to go out at that hour. An old friend of mine from Tomorrow's Children days (read 30 years ago) is scheduled to play guitar there tonight. That would be a major blast-from-the-past!

Tues 13 May

Tonight I'm hoping for enough time to cook and eat supper together at the table, a luxury that has eluded us lately. Michael's choir concert went very well last night. It's neat to be able to hear those deep bass notes and know that's Michael!

Let me know when you get the package with the mortarboard so I know it arrived in time. Remind Keaton that I would like the cap and gown returned after he walks.

Michael said Desmond and Su stopped by after school, and are planning to return around 5 pm. What fun! Oh well, almost 6:30 and no Desmond yet. Glad I didn't wait to exercise.

Will try to get the mortarboard off to UPS today, or tomorrow at latest. Will be thinking of you this week as you enter the home stretch of the semester. May God give you strength!

We'll try to UPS the mortarboard to you tomorrow. I hope Keaton appreciates your efforts.

Wow, the nervous tension before starting a new job. My shoulders feel like they're sculpted from cement. It will be good that my first job is to move all the junk from my old office - a little physical labor will help work out the kinks.

All moved in and I have a home visit first thing this afternoon with a coworker for support. Can't get public radio reception in the basement, though. Bummer!

Wed 7 May

Good luck as finals encroach! Thinking of you and sending you love and energy!!!!

Last day as a DD social worker today. What doesn't get done, doesn't. Seems so odd that tomorrow I'll still go to work at the same time, same place, but to a different job.

I got flowers at the office today! First time in 30 years! One of my long-time clients and foster providers brought them in to say goodbye. Sweet!

BTW, looking at coming down Saturday around noon to grab a light lunch (bagel or salad or something) before Yuki's concert. Does that sound workable to you?

Wow, I'm feeling a little emotionally wiped out at the end of the day. Guess I shouldn't be surprised. But I have KEYS to my new office for tomorrow - that makes me giggle!

Tues 6 May

I liked Yourmometer today! I giggled out loud! Nice way to start the day.

New digs sound excellent! We'll probably bring the portable dishwasher home in case Michael needs it at some point unless Dad feels strongly otherwise. Where will the new place be located?

Staff meeting went well and my unit surprised me by taking me out to lunch at Tokyo Steak House. I thought I was just going with Kristin, but everyone came. And they gave me a gift certificate to Wellness Spa that should cover a massage (which is sorely needed, if you'll pardon the pun!)

Saw the information website for the new apartment and it looks very nice. I hope it works out well for you. It will be nice to have a pool, hot tub, and fitness center all available in house.

Sun 4 May

Last concert today, then party at Morrissey's. Michael and the Pacelli crew plan to come to the party, so I guess we'll go too. We're pitching in with the group for party sub platter, so food shouldn't be too unhealthy. And I should have time to exercise after I get home.

I was so exhausted yesterday I went to bed around 8:30. Not sure why I felt so wiped out unless it was from eating a lot of stuff.
I do feel better today for a good long rest. Probably had to do more with a very busy weekend on top of a stressful week. With another stressful week, including the big job change day on Thursday, ahead.

If we're lucky, we may get to stay in the Carriage House on the same land as the farmhouse where the rest of the LeGault crew are staying over Memorial Day. It is a working horse ranch with several buildings. Val and Kate may take the bunkhouse. I'll let you know when I get a response.

Read a Mexican food guide on SparkPeople in preparation for Cinco de Mayo. Did you know a cheese quesadilla has about 900 calories? Cheese enchiladas are closer to 1000! Yipe!!! Best choices are a chicken fajita or shrimp taco when eating Mexican, or gazpacho if you can get it.

Concerts done - no more Kevin! Yay!

Sat 3 May

First concert went fine last night; last one tomorrow. Today Michael has State Solo/Ensemble and we have the Cultural Fest. Feels a little weird not to have helped them with set-up, but it would have been too tight with the concert, and without Christianah to make the commitment personal, it was easier to pass it up. But I am looking forward to going there to eat! Diet be damned today!

You're right, Darryl and Julie didn't call, nor did I see them there. Actually, last year it was Deb Weishan who was calling but she didn't try us this year either. Maybe she avoided asking anyone who was doing Solo/Ensemble. BTW, their madrigal got a first, and we didn't stay long enough to get the scores on the solo or trio.

Food:

8:15 am Peach soy shake, rhubarb muffin (at least I can start out well!)
10:30-12:30 pm 2/3 Korean "omelet", 1/4 c bulgogi, 1/2 veggie spring roll, mango bubble tea, 1/2 homemade ponczka, 2/3 rosette, Indian dinner plate (1 c chicken in spicy sauce, 1 c garbanzo beans in sauce, 1/4 c seasoned rice, cucumber yogurt sauce, dab cilantro sauce, 1/2 c mango ice cream, 2 c kettle corn
4:30 pm 4 c kettle corn
7:30 pm 12 oz light vanilla soy milk, 3/4 c maple/brown sugar chex, 1/2 c skim milk

Exercise:

02 May 2008

Fri 2 May

Concert day. I'm looking forward to having Michael's choir perform with ours, even if I have to tolerate Kevin as director to do it. Then when these concerts and the cult Mass are done, hopefully we'll get Barb back again. I'm not even positive that Kevin plans to be involved with the Mass, so this might be it.

Looks likely that the farmhouse in Oregon is filled, so we'll probably get a hotel for Fri-Sat and drive back up to Kitty's for Sun night. Saves the cost of another night in the hotel, and we could sleep in a bit on Monday instead of getting up early to drive back in holiday traffic. We won't have to leave on Sunday til about 3 pm and it shouldn't be such a bad drive at that time. Since our flight gets in so late on Monday night before work and school on Tuesday, it would be good to have a more relaxing day on Monday anyway.

Hope your crunch time is going okay for you. Thinking of you and sending some positive energy and love your way!

Food:

7:00 am Strawberry/banana soy shake, rhubarb muffin, coffee
12:15 pm 1 slice double fiber bread, 1 tbl peanut butter, small banana, 12 oz light vanilla soy milk, pumpkin bar
