L'etoile

Actually I was EXTREMELY nice and took Keaton out for a last-meal type thing at L'etoile, the older brother of Harvest (where we had my graduation dinner). The atmosphere was great - we had a table with an unobstructed view of the capitol square, fantastic service, and of course, great food:

Appetizers: small buttery, herb cracker with small dot of cheese and half pecan; bowl of fresh strawberries with wine sauce, bleu cheese, basil, and some sort of croûton; very hard crusted baguette

First course: beet ravioli, pasta made with beet juice, filled with the greens and some sort of cheese, with roasted beets in the center of the plate, drizzled with a balsamic vinaigrette; Keaton had a cold spring onion soup

Entrée: three slices of venison on a bed of some sort of wild grain, topped with greens and what tasted like anise; Keaton had a piece of smoked salmon

Dessert: strawberry shortcake with fresh strawberries, crème fraiche, vanilla ice cream, fresh made biscuit and topped with fresh mint; Keaton had chocolate banana wontons in a caramel rum sauce; after-dinner treat of the house candy corn, a fresh strawberry jelly square, and a small piece of chocolate with cayenne

All of that with a glass of Shiraz for me and a Riesling for Keaton. It was wonderful.
