Between reading an article today on the benefits of chewing food well and eating slowly and a recent lecture from my daughter, I'm trying! (At least during breakfast today while it's on my mind.) I never used to eat fast, but years of having places to go and things to do as soon as mealtime is over have developed some bad habits.
I don't think Jordan was ready for the return of early morning exercise today. He just stared at me as I came downstairs from his perch on the windowsill, then went upstairs to finish his sleep, I suspect.
Tonight was a culinary experiment that definitely didn't work. Not often I leave half my plate uneaten. I used the remaining ground lamb and browned it with onion and lots of fresh green pepper, then added about 1/2 c of Matsaman curry paste and some hot water to thin it. I served it over basmati rice and topped it with some of the homemade tzatziki. The curry sauce was hotter than I like, but the killer was that it was way too salty. I just couldn't deal with the saltiness, even when cut by the rice and tzatziki. I was glad of a little leftover basmati to round out my meal.
