Sat 20 Aug

Today I woke up around 6:30 wanting to get up and exercise! Yay! Yesterday I felt vaguely guilty for not exercising all day but I really just wanted to chill and re-acclimate to being home. I think it was best to wait for readiness which thankfully wasn't long in coming. I finally got the SparkPeople free DVD that I won and gave it a try. I was (unpleasantly) surprised that I couldn't keep up with the whole thing. It was 6 10-minute segments of cardio that never rested and got increasingly more intense. I kept up with the first three, did the fourth with some modifications, gave up and did my own crunch mat workout during the fifth, and stretched and watched the sixth. Someday I may be able to do the whole shebang, but it's nicely organized so that if I need a short cardio supplement to a strength workout, I can just do one or two segments.

I'm kind of excited about supper. I'm thawing some ground lamb and plan to make burgers w/garlic, salt, pepper, and fresh oregano. I will serve them on Arnold's whole wheat thins w/thinly sliced tomato and homemade tzatziki sauce so they will be like little gyros in burger form.

Tzatziki was good but the combo was a little less outstanding than I had expected. I think I made the lamb burgers too thick. I also steamed some frozen cauliflower and mixed it with chopped fresh tomatoes and basil which I liked. Dad thought it could have been more peppery, though.
