I'm already tired of being cold. Saw a special on half-price airfare to St. Maarten in early spring and I'm sorely tempted. Airfare is the biggest bite of the trip so it would be pretty reasonable. We'll see.
I'm impressed with your Chinese! Looks fun but daunting. Can you say it out loud as well as write it?

It's currently 63° in Taipei. It's also 2am. It's going to be so nice...
Also, I'm learning a bit of Chinese so I won't be hopelessly lost there. It's quite fun.
我在等我的朋友。(I'm waiting for my friend - probably the phrase I'll use most often.)
这个多少钱?(How much does this cost?)
我要买这个。(I want to buy this.)
今天天气很好。(The weather's nice today.)
请问有菜单吗?(Excuse me, can I have a menu?)
And of course:
我是美国人。(I am American.)
Oh, and most importantly:
什么?(What?)
Yes, actually I can say more things out loud than I can write. Though typing takes care of that - I just have to remember vaguely what the character looks like for when I'm given an option. I actually type out the sounds in a spell-out character system called "pinyin" so that:
tianqi = 天气 (weather)
meiguoren = 美国人 (American)
qing wen = 请问 (excuse me, can I ask)
and so forth. It's fun. :)
