We have certainly had our fill of April showers. They can stop any time now for awhile. Hopefully all this rain will leave behind sunny skies for next week's hikes.
Time to get back to routine in eating and exercising again. Too much sitting and eating yesterday, though I did manage over 12,000 steps on the day.

Conference on suicide prevention at Holiday Inn today, followed by drug company dinner at Michele's tonight. Not a lot of activity paired with plenty of food. Did a very active walking routine this morning to start with over 6000 steps, but I'll have to work to get the rest in. Maybe I can walk around Holiday Inn on breaks. They are starting us with a continental breakfast this morning, so I'm just doing fruit at home with coffee.

Have to apologize to my coworker on call who had to go out late Friday afternoon to fill a med planner for a client I completely forgot on Thursday. If he had called sooner, I could have done it, but he didn't call until we were on the road to Madison. At least it isn't an odious task as he has everything needed at his apartment and he's a very pleasant gentleman. But I feel pretty foolish for having forgotten.

Really nice time in Madison this weekend. Enjoyed spending time with you Friday evening, celebrating your birthday (and your new job!) Bought lots of plants at the Farmer's Market and Costco which we hopefully will plant outside this afternoon, amid assurances from the farmers that it's okay to do so. We got a gorgeous tall orange-blossoming azalea bush to put behind the white one in the front yard, and a unique variety of white bleeding heart to complete the grouping. We bought some shade-tolerating perennials to try again along the front fence, some lavender to plant alongside the garage, chamomile near the chives, and something new for the herb table. I'm going to wait on the rest of the herbs a little longer.
Too many treats again today between Newman after-church social and Suzuki after-Festival concert.

Happy Easter! Somehow Easter Sunday always seems anticlimactic after the vigil on Saturday evening. We had Fr. Bob Cook as our celebrant since Tom was at St. Stan's. Fr. Bob is a retired priest, tall and stately, very nice. Toward the end, he commented that he has been a priest for 49 years and this was the most engaged and enthusiastic services at which he had ever presided. Our Newman Easter Vigil is truly a special occasion and we appreciate it.
Had a very nice time with Michael and Taylor at Bernard's for Easter brunch. Indulged myself, including the dessert table, but not to the point of discomfort. The roast lamb had a pan sauce that was incredible!

Probably slept too long last night - 10.5 hrs. I'm still a little groggy waking up, but it was awfully nice to have the opportunity. Today shouldn't be overly busy - laundry and Saturday chores, vigil tonight at 8 (arrive early). I plan to cook a "mini-Easter dinner" for Dad and I today, but that is at our own pace.

Good Friday. I will do Eucharist coordination for the 1 pm service. We opted not to sing with the Ecumenical Choir at Trinity this year, primarily because I didn't want to do 8-9 pm rehearsals every week. Don't like staying out that late on a regular basis. I love the Newman music during Triduum. I sure hope that if consolidation of the parishes happens this year, we get to keep some of our wonderful musical traditions, as well as the Holy Thursday potluck. It would be sad to see them gone.
Decided to skip the fruit at home today for the fast day and just get my single scrambled egg/veggie crepe at Olympia with my client as sufficient breakfast.
Had a little trouble with the TV this morning getting the YouTube channel up and running so didn't have enough time to do a second walking routine. Maybe it will be nice enough after church for Dad and I to take a nice long walk.
Got to work and had a late night message from my client canceling our breakfast meeting. Sounded quite drunk. Good thing I had not eaten the 2 small cranberry orange scones left from yesterday's bake sale purchases so I still made a sort of breakfast at my desk. Good enough.
Awesome walk in Mead Wildlife preserve. Beautiful sunshine and mild temps, and the farther we walked, the more waterfowl we encountered. We had several face-offs with very large Canadian geese on the pathway who thankfully moved when we got too close. There were a whole phalanx of what appeared to be swans a short distance away in the water. Several ducks, a few cranes, several muskrats (I know they're not waterfowl, but they were cool, too!)

CONGRATULATIONS!!! I am so very proud of you for getting the job. It is nice to know my daughter is on the faculty of a prestigious university! You have worked very hard and truly deserve this.
Holy Thursday potluck at Newman tonight. I'm making chicken biryani, at least if I can get it pulled together after I get home from work. I plan to have all the fixings laid out with the recipe so I can get cooking as soon as I walk in the door.
Overdid at bake sale at work this morning; had a large piece of cinnamon streusel coffee cake AND a humongous double-layer krispie treat with chocolate on top and butterscotch on the bottom. Sugared out.
Looks like the biryani will be ready in time. Yay!

Went to the funeral home last night for Bill's mom. Had a nice visit with Bill and Paddy. Bill said he purposely didn't put the announcement in the Point paper because he didn't want Canales to find out and show up at the funeral. Can't say I blame him; Canales used to kind of stalk Bill as a buddy-buddy and it drove Bill nuts.
Didn't feel like working out after work, but succeeded. Yay.

Yesterday morning's power outage helped me to appreciate today how convenient electricity makes our lives. It's very nice to get up when it's still dark outside, go down and turn on lights and an exercise video, come up to more lights and a hot shower, be able to dry my hair, come down and have the microwave available to make oatmeal, hot coffee, etc. All too easy to take that all for granted.
Just got off the phone with Bill Pyke; his mom died Saturday morning as they were putting her in the car to take her to Bill's sister so he and Paddy could go on a short vacation together.

Palm Sunday. Likely be a bit crowded at church today. We got the "death knell" letter about a week ago that the merger of Newman with St. Stan's is inevitable and actually in progress. This will likely be the last Triduum of Newman as we knew it. I suspect it will be hard for me to feel like a true member of the combined parish as I also suspect it will be far more St Stans-like than Newmanesque. Perhaps I'm just being doomsdayish, though.
Went to Perkins for lunch and had very delicious omelets loaded with fresh broccoli. Fruit cup was fresh and, again, I was able to eat more of the multigrain pancakes sans syrup.
Bought some nice fresh lake perch at Copps yesterday; pan-fried them for dinner tonight. Yum!

Couldn't walk to Trivia today due to quite heavy rain, so still need to find a way to get some exercise in spite of being tired. We both took naps for about an hour upon returning home (food coma?), and Dad is still sleeping. We were recipients of veggie wraps, meatball sandwiches, Gyros, and chips/salsa during our Trivia shift. I was hungry at the time, but don't really think we'll need much for supper now.

My client says she's up for breakfast this morning. Last Friday, she had gone into the ER with another mild heart attack. Guess that was an adequate excuse to miss breakfast.
Read an article last night about a family that gave up all added sugar (including as an ingredient in purchased food) for a year and felt immeasurably better. Inspired me to do a sugar holiday today, though not quite as extreme. Ate pancakes at Olympia which may have had some sugar in the batter, but skipped syrup.
Sugar holiday was declared before Michael came over and baked fresh peanut butter chocolate chip cookies (to take to Taylor's) and left a warm one for a sample. Would have been a crying shame not to eat it while it was still warm.

Really enjoyed the French cooking class last night. Amazing French onion soup, gougeres(little cheesy puffs), tarts w/cheese, potato, & onion, delicious beef bourgignon, and crepes suzette. Deliceuse! (Did I spell that right?)
Looking forward to another beautiful day today. Hoping to initiate grilling season tonight.
Got a batch of Amish Friendship bread, AKA Herman, and tonight is baking day. Had Dad help me hold the bags to measure out the starter before mixing the batch to bake. As he was setting down the last filled bag, he bumped the bowl with the rest of the batter to be mixed and dumped it all over the floor. At least I won't have to worry how to pawn off four bags of starter on other people because I suspect there were at least two batches in the bowl, so I'll need to use two of them to bake tonight. Once I get them in the bowl, I may need even more.
I'm rather excited. I finally ordered a couple of new bras from Vicki's Secret and they arrived at the Point post office today so I may get them tomorrow. Realized that my current ones are quite shabby. Just hope I ordered the proper size.

33 years ago tonight, Dad and I had our first date. It's also Val & Kate's anniversary of getting together as a couple. A momentous day for LeGaults. We have a French cooking class at Rockman's tonight as our celebration. I can also celebrate getting rid of the pager for awhile. No calls last night.
Last hot cross bun is a little hard, but still tasty. Dad said the pretzel buns are starting to mold, but after eating one and looking at the calorie count, I told him I wouldn't eat any more. Looks like no one else finished them. It was tasty, but I don't need to get 200 calories just from the bun.

Blessedly quiet all day yesterday on the pager. Only two more days to go.
Got a page near the end of church. Was able to handle it by phone from the back sitting area outside the chapel.

12:00 pm 1.5 slices French toast, med apple chopped, 1 tbl raisins, 1/8 c chopped pecans, cinnamon syrup, coffee
1:15 pm 5 chocolate covered pecans

Ah, a quiet Friday evening with no pages. A good long night's sleep. Oatmeal for breakfast. Life is good. And tomorrow should get into the upper 50s.
Need to stick in town more or less today, so laundry, errands, etc. Nice day for a walk with Dad, should be even nicer tomorrow.

Had another call last night but was able to resolve it from home in about half an hour. Maybe I'll be lucky and that will be it for the week.
Breakfast out this morning with client. Looking forward to banana nut pancakes. Oh, well. She didn't show, so I ended up with Starbuck's Oatmeal. It's not too bad.
Cheese fries, coffee stout, and Gravity on the Blu-Ray player. Nice start to a Friday evening. Will be even nicer if the pager doesn't go off.

Loooonng evening yesterday on call; 3.75 hrs to finish the situation with paperwork. About an hour of it standing outside in a cold driveway until the cops suggested I could leave, probably because I was shivering somewhat uncontrollably by then.
Help, that bag of caramel corn on the counter upstairs keeps calling my name!
