Yay, weekends! Heading down to LaCrosse for the day to eat lunch at Fayze's and get some good bread, hike at Great River Bluffs State Park in MN for a bit, stock up on apples, and head home via Burnstad's in Tomah. The hiking should help to offset the opportunities for good food as well as show us a beautiful new park. We actually learned about this park from Paddy, Bill Pyke's partner, when we met them on top of the tower at Rib last night. Paddy is the vacation-planner for their family and immediately had a good recommendation when we said we wanted to hike around LaCrosse.
The park in MN was just what I was hoping for - beautiful paths, sufficient hills for a challenging hike, and gorgeous weather to round out the package. We got a nice 2-hour hike in to help digest lunch and make room for a nice dinner.
