Wow, it was hard to exercise this morning. Getting up and getting started wasn't so bad, but I'm achy in every muscle so I couldn't maintain the effort. Had to give up Pilates after 40 min. Would have loved nothing more than to crawl back into bed with the electric blanket on and sleep for several hours. My body just doesn't want to move.

Feels like our little jaunt to Mpls was longer than it really was. That's always a nice thing to happen with a mini-vacation. Nice to be home though. October may be a more home-based month, though we'd like to take a Saturday drive into the north for the leaves with Grandma and I hope to get to Madison one Saturday. I cantor on Oct 4, but the leaves were already coloring a lot en route to Wausau so I'll either need to switch weekends so we can go up next Saturday or risk waiting til the 11th for the leaf trip. Guess we'll hope that the 18th will work for a Madison visit. Michael takes his ACT on the 25th and we have to sing that evening for the Suzuki dinner. Eddie Hartman's confirmation is the first Sat in November and Bob is his sponsor. Whew!
Lunch at Grandma's today. Food there isn't bad and she enjoys having our company.

Dad and I are heading to Minneapolis for a little jaunt with a night at the Sofitel. We'll probably go to Ikea to browse, maybe the Mall, for sure some good food. We'll be back Sat afternoon or evening. Michael's is staying at Nick's. Nice to have a little break.
Wow, what a nice time we had. Lunch at Highland Grill was great, and I had a free dessert for my birthday coupon. We shared an apple crostada that was unbelievable! After checking in at Sofitel (with a scenic drive through Minnetonka Parkway neighborhoods en route), we bummed around Ikea. Then we went to the Mall for awhile and had a small margherita wood-fired pizza and peach sangria for a light supper. We returned to the hotel and visited the workout room for about half an hour, then dressed up a little and had a glass of wine in the bar while catching the end of the debate. Back to the room to read and relax in the awesome Sofitel bed.

I began to feel it was a conspiracy to get me out of bed earlier in the mornings. First I found one article with the 10 best reasons to exercise in the morning, all good common sense. Then I had a long conversation about diet and exercise with the psychiatric nurse when our client didn't show up last night; she argued strongly for AM exercise. Then I came home and there was another article with 5 good reasons to exercise in the morning. To top it off, I woke up spontaneously a half hour before my alarm was scheduled to go off (45 min before I usually get up). I gave in and dragged down to the basement, silently cursing all the way, to do the morning wake-up yoga routine on the DVD that I had never tried. It wasn't very vigorous, but I couldn't deny I do feel more energized and awake at this hour than usual. Don't know if I'll be able to stick with it, but I won't say never.

Time is speeding up again - happens every year around September. Hope that I'm able to weather the fall/holidays season while sticking to the healthy eating/exercising regimes I've established since last November. I feel quite motivated so I think it will be good, though I've noticed I'm more willing to stray off the food path occasionally than I was a few months ago. Partly I think that's okay if I ever lose that last 5 pounds; I won't need to continue in "losing" mode after than point and will just need to establish what I need to do to maintain.

Had a nice dinner at Applebee's last night with dad after taking homecoming pics at Iverson. The little neighborhood girl looked pretty but lost among all the folks who knew each other well. The group came over here after their dinner at Chili's and hung around for about 45 min before finally going to the dance. Michael said they didn't plan to stay for the whole thing. He planned to take Kelsey home and then a group was sleeping over at Jon's house. I expect we'll see him sometime today.

Not quite so sunny today, but hopefully it will be a nice trip to LaCrosse. Michael is playing in a JV soccer tournament in Rapids so he won't be accompanying us. He's taking one of the neighborhood teenyboppers to the Homecoming dance tonight since he hasn't hooked up with anyone else he wanted to invite yet. It was kind of a last-minute alternative to just going stag. Guys don't require much primping for these things, so I'm making sure all his clothes are collected, ironed and laid out before we leave. They intend to meet at Iverson after their dinner for pictures before the dance; I'm pretty sure we'll be back in town by that time so I'll meet him there to take pictures. Sigh! Last child going to homecoming...

Managed to get home around 8:30 am, and have the rest of the day off. Considering calling Grandma and offering to take her to Appleton for the day after I get a shower. We're also going to take her to LaCrosse tomorrow to get apples so she'd have busy days.
Picked Grandma up around 10:15 and returned home around 4:45. We had a nice day; lunch at Red Lobster, a little shopping (I found this really fun yellow dress!), coffee at Gloria Jean's and purchasing Cinnabons to take home to the boys. Hoping to get in a nice walk in this perfect weather this evening.

2:45 pm 16 oz vanilla cream flavored coffee
7:30 pm Half a Cinnabon, 8 oz light vanilla soy milk
Exercise:
6:00-7:15 pm Brisk walk with Dad through Iverson, back Patch

Today feels like a Friday morning. I'm going out to Lion's Camp for most of the day and the overnight, then I get to come home after breakfast and returning folks to town. Weather looks to be gorgeous so I hope it will be fun for all.
Camp was fine, weather was beautiful, meals were relatively healthy. Steve and I convinced two ladies to do the walk around the lake with us, albeit slowly since both women appeared to be 250+. I couldn't find anyone to go out on the lake so I took a pedal boat around the lake by myself while they all watched TV or played bingo.

Funny how it seems I was gone from home for quite a long time when it was only about a day and a half. Now tomorrow I go with a group to Lions Camp for an overnight and will be home hopefully by 9:30 or 10:00 am, but it seems like a major time commitment there too. Hopefully I'll get lots of walking exercise at camp, but I understand this is a pretty sedentary group.

Conference wasn't too exciting but the group of coworkers were fun. It was difficult during the actual conference when we had to do an exercise as a team. Everyone has pretty strong ideas of how things should be worded, but our ideas were rarely the same. Fortunately when we do our own plans at home, we do them on our own so we can do them as we think appropriate. We had fun going out for lunches and last night's dinner at the Mexican place where large margaritas were only $3.

Felt good to stay home and cook yesterday. Homemade spaghetti sauce and pumpkin bread were very tasty. There's something nice about "nesting" when the weather cools. I didn't get the dining room table cleaned as I had hoped; maybe today. Nope, not today either - it was a busy day with getting Michael off to his senior retreat, doing Grandma's erranding, and starting choir. I'm frustrated that I don't have the energy to exercise at 8:30 pm after choir, but since I have to get up around 3:30 am to be ready to leave at 5:45 for an overnight training in Eau Claire, I will allow myself to go to bed early instead. At least I ate well today.
Food:
8:00 am Peach soy shake, slice pumpkin bread, 8 oz OJ
11:45 am 2 crepes, 1/2 c sliced bananas, 2 tbl sour cream, 2 tbl brown sugar, coffee
4:00 pm 1 chocolate glazed donut hole (19g)
5:15 pm 65 g grilled lamb ribettes, 1/2 c seasoned couscous, 1 c broccoli, 12 oz light vanilla soy milk

Dad and I will do the 3-mile Walk for Hope for suicide awareness this morning. Hopefully it won't rain the whole time. Hartmans will be there so we'll have good company. I didn't exercise at all yesterday, so I need to get my 10000 steps in today.
Finished the walk in a rather soggy on-again, off-again drizzle, but it was nice to walk and chat with Hartmans. Sad that we're not hopping into the car to visit Madison now, but understand that school schedules and work are predominant. Hope your project goes well today.
Food:
8:00 am Strawberry/vanilla soy shake, cherry juice from concentrate, 1/4 cantaloupe, palmier, coffee
10:45 am Slice medium Pizza Hut hand-tossed cheese pizza, Gala apple
2:30 pm Cup of General Foods Pumpkin Spice coffee drink
6:30 pm 3/4 c whole wheat pasta, 3/4 c homemade spaghetti sauce w/ground round, onions, red peppers, zucchini, baby portabellas, mucho tomato sauce, spices, 1 tbl grated parmesan, 12 oz light vanilla soy milk
7:30 pm Slice pumpkin bread, 1 tsp margarine

Discovered last night that I don't sleep well if I've eaten a lot of sugary stuff. I had the Coldstone instead of supper yesterday and had a pretty restless night. The past day or two when I'd eaten bakery for breakfast had been less than comfortable sleeping also. I'm going to have to experiment with some very low sugar days to see if sleeping is better.

Was not successful in keeping within my calorie limit yesterday again, and today will probably be over too. We bought some good bakery at Panacea, and even though I limit myself to one serving a day, it's enough with the rest of the day to break the bank. Once it's gone, I can't buy any more goodies.
Bye-bye, good intentions. I figured if I was going to use up my Coldstone birthday treat, I could never really fit it into a day's meals so it's going to be my supper tonight. Don't know if I'll eat the whole thing. Only ate half after looking up the abysmal nutrition info. (Can you call it "nutrition" info if it's that bad?)
Food:
8:15 am 87 g blueberry cheesecake danish, 1/2 c raspberries, cherry juice from concentrate
11:45 am 3 potato pancakes, .5 tbl butter, 1 tbl syrup, 3 small sausages, 1/4 c applesauce, 5 oz OJ, coffee, 8 oz skim milk
4:30 pm Love-It peanut butter/chocolate creation
Exercise:
2:30-3:00 pm Walk home from Panacea

Gotta work Silent Auction at Panacea this afternoon. Will also go check out the newly arrived bike at Campus Cycle. They got one of the two models I wanted to compare, actually just the standard vs. the woman-specific model. They have the WSD ready to try and I expect that will fit me better anyway. Grandma is anxious for me to complete the purchase since she's buying it for my birthday, but I want to take time to make sure I get the best fit. I expect that between this road bike and the trail bike I have, I shouldn't need to ever buy another one unless something breaks or is stolen or I take on some whole new level of cycling.
Decided that I have been getting a little lax in the food control department of late. I've noticed my calories at or slightly above the maximum recommended level too many days in a row. Time to start cracking down again before bad habits are established. Unfortunately, Grandma sent home some raspberry-filled ponczkas and cinnamon rolls from the Panacea bake sale, so I decided to choose one thing and eat it this morning. I expect the guys will eat the extra cinnamon roll. Don't want to fall off the wagon before I even get to the goal.
Decided not to get the new bike after all. My current bike really suits my needs at this time, though I am going to get new thinner tires to make riding easier. If I were to do road riding where speed mattered, I would probably get this bike I tried, but I don't have a need to go fast for the recreational riding I enjoy.
Food:
8:30 am Raspberry-filled ponczka, 1/4 med cantaloupe, cherry juice from concentrate, tea
12:30 pm Peach soy shake, pear, 1/2 c Maple & Brown Sugar Mini-Wheats, 2 oz skim milk
1:30 pm 6 g dark chocolate
5:15 pm 4 oz shredded pork, bun, 1 tbl BBQ sauce, 3/4 c baked beans, 1/2 c cole slaw, pickle spear
Exercise:
11:30 am 15 min ride to and from Campus Cycle
11:45 am 10 min test ride on road bike

Haven't made time for exercise for two days now, and I'm feeling the sluggish aftereffects. It will be a bit difficult with taking Grandma to Panacea fish fry tonight, but I should be able to come home at 3:30 and sneak in a quick workout. Hope so. Also need to get back to Campus Cycle as they finally got in one of the two bikes I want to test out. Didn't want to go yesterday over my lunch hour in the drizzle when I wasn't really dressed to ride bike anyway.

I was hoping that Yourmometer would be back online at the beginning of the semester, but I imagine with the class to teach and the crunch to get everything else going, it isn't the top priority. Come to think of it, I never even asked you for certain if you planned to continue with it.
Scale is up a little, but I've been retaining water a bit with the weather and not as regular as I'd like. Hopefully that's the couple of pounds difference. I've been pretty consistent with the 10000 steps a day or equivalent, actually usually quite a bit more. I have been less varied in my workouts though, leaning heavily on walking and biking while the weather still allows. We've also been eating out a bit more lately which doesn't help the nutrition much.
I was soooo tired this afternoon, and as I was driving home I realized I hadn't had my usual liter of water this afternoon so I'm assuming the fatigue may be due to mild dehydration. Will be interesting to see if I can perk up once I rehydrate. I've already finished a 32-oz glass and think I'll go back for another. Drank about 6 cups of water and had a very brief nap and supper; feeling vaguely human again.
Food:
7:00 am Strawberry/banana soy shake, 1/4 cantaloupe, cherry juice from concentrate, coffee
12:45 pm 4 oz grilled chicken breast, bun, lettuce leaf, tomato slice, 2 tbl barbecue sauce, grilled onions, 1 c fruit, 16 oz iced tea, 1/4 slice chocolate cake
5:00 pm 2 c kettle corn

Labor Day
Nice to have another beautiful day off before returning to work. Feels so good to have gotten the basement pantry closet cleaned out and organized. There are a few things sitting on the futon that need to find other homes, likely the garage attic, but the closet looks so good I had to just go down and look at it this morning.
Planning another bike ride today and having lunch with Grandma. Might go to Wausau or Appleton mall to look for a wallet since I'm not finding much of a selection of decent leather goods in Point and I didn't find much in wallets at the fair either. Michael's planning a trip to Kohl's with one of the girls from school to "pick out a new look". Can't wait to see it.
Food:
9:00 am Vanilla soy shake, cherry juice from concentrate, plum, coffee
11:45 am 3 oz BBQ ribs, 1/4 c peas/cheese salad, 3" cob of corn, dinner roll, 1 tbl butter, 8 oz OJ, 2 c coffee, small serving apple crisp
6:00 pm 4 oz chardonnay, large piece garlic bread, garden salad w/1 tbl bleu cheese dressing, large portabella mushroom w/seafood stuffing and melted cheese, half piece decadent chocolate cake, half piece tiramisu.
Exercise:
1:35-2:15 pm Bike ride
