Whose idea was it to get up on Saturday at 5:30 am? The Farmer's Market had better be off to a good start or I'm gonna regret those lost hours of sleep. I am looking forward to seeing my 26-year-old daughter and belatedly celebrating her natal day.

Looking to come down early tomorrow to check out the Farmer's Market. At this point, I'm hoping to arrive around 8:30 am but we'll see if we're able to pull that off. Let me know if you'd like to meet at the market or when or where you'd prefer.

Was a bad girl and didn't get up to exercise this morning - just too tired. It does look like the promised nice day is here and we'll hike this evening so I'll still get a good workout for the day.

Hiking was great - much more acclimated already than the first foray on Sunday.

Because of a few offenders in Portage County who were recently dismissed (one for embezzlement from the Purchasing Dept and a social worker in our building who was rumored to go to the gym on work time for several years), Amy said there are some very paranoid people who will be watching everyone's conduct carefully. Means I need to make an effort to get to work earlier since I am scheduled to do so. I always felt like I got my 40 hours of work in adequately, but I'll need to be super-diligent for awhile until the dust settles.

When I first bought the Jillian Michaels DVD, I tried the first workout and thought I would die. I did not pick it up again until this morning. Each workout is an intense 20-min circuit with strength training combination moves, cardio including a lot of jumping jacks which used to be exceptionally difficult for me, and abs. I got through the first one okay today and tried the second one right away. Only made it about 3/4 of the way, but I still feel pretty good about it as it was intense.

I'm frustrated because I ate a lot of sweets today in response to some frustrating clients. Didn't help. Just gave me a sugar headache. And it's drizzly and cold so our hike on Rib is off tonight.

Since I was still feeling a bit stressed, we decided to order out for supper. We gave Curry in a Hurry another chance. Not bad, but still not outstanding.

It was really hard to get out of bed this morning. Really didn't wanna. But did.

Good thing we're coming to Madison Saturday. I'm down to my last box of TJ cereal and almost out of good Costco grapefruit. Time to shop!

I'm unusually tired this evening, which I attribute to an overdose of sugar today at the bake sale at work. My willpower was zilch in the face of excellent treats. Better luck tomorrow.

Made it through the Original Jane Fonda Workout with a little more energy than usual. Maybe having the windows open to fresh air and a walk through Schmeeckle last night contributed. Also really looking forward to a mini-vacation for a few days in Door Co next week. Hoping for good hiking weather there.

Slightly larger-than-usual bowl of cereal this morning to finish the last of a box. I hate going in to a box the next morning to less than a quarter cup cereal left.

Was planning on hitting the gym tonight but didn't get out of the office til nearly 5 pm, have Suzuki at 7:30, and shins are sore today either from Sunday hike or Monday walk. Good night to rest.

Hope you had fun in Chicago and that you managed to get your comics written without pulling your hair out.

I could definitely feel some of the effect of the hike yesterday already, interestingly enough moreso in my arms from poling. I also felt the outer thigh muscles which also surprised me.

Lovely sunny day. Can we clone it?

Such a beautiful day, I needed to take a walk even if hiking up the hills at Rib seemed a bit too much for my recovering body. Dad wasn't up to even a walk around town so I took my iPod and walked the Schmeeckle trail behind Kmart to hear the spring peepers that can drown out any headphones. Walked in my Five Fingers and my feet are a bit sore. I saw one other person with the exact same pair - a man at least my age.

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter! Hope you still have a few goodies from your Easter basket (box) to celebrate today. I started off with some dark chocolate covered Peepsters. I was expecting Peeps covered in chocolate but theyr'e actually more like a dark chocolate Rolo with marshmallow instead of caramel inside. The primary taste is the chocolate. Yum!

If the weather and our energy are positive, we might try for our first Rib hike of the season this afternoon after brunch at Bernard's with Grandma and Michael. A virtuous way to wear off some of the pastry table calories.

Wow, it felt good to get out hiking Rib on a sunny, warm afternoon! But I will be sore tomorrow, I promise.

Did kickboxing this morning which is one of my more active choices because I will be sitting most of the day for a training. This training will be right in our own building via teleconference with several of my coworkers. It's a presenter I've heard several times before, in fact I may have heard most of this training before, but it's free and it's 6 more credits toward my social work license. In this day of tight training funding, I take every opportunity I get to get my 30 hours in 2 years without having to pay from my own pocket.

Wow, it was tough to sit in the conference room all day for this training. It was a videoconference in which the presenter was all by himself in a room with a camera so he seemed to get a little bored and lose focus occasionally also. He is usually a good presenter, but he lacked connection with his audience in this format.

Did the Denise Austin Power Zone again today; it will get slightly easier as I know the order of the routines, but it will continue to be a good workout with the resistance band added to the cardio. It was released in 2004 so it's not as dated as the old Jane Fonda routines, but I still like them too.

Oooh, it's difficult to end the work day with a very frustrating client. I know it's traditionally hard to get this client to leave after appointments so I started telling her she had to pack up and go at 4 pm. Finally coaxed her out the door, being progressively less polite, at about 4:20 pm. Yikes! And she has another appointment in the building with the psychiatrist at 8:15 tomorrow morning! And did I mention that she arrived at 12:53 pm for our 3:00 pm appointment. I did not get her from the waiting area until 3:00 as I had explained to her that I had a meeting from 1:00-3:00, but it was annoying knowing she was up in the waiting area the whole time. Ah, a day in the life....

Dad offered dinner at El Ranchito as a balm for a difficult afternoon. He didn't have to twist my arm. And I gave in to my Peeps craving on the way home.

I see Overstock.com is now getting in to the discounted vacation game. So many options, so little time and money. Sigh.

Already missing you for your birthday and Easter, but hoping you have a good time with your friends. We plan to come to Madison on Sat 30 Apr to celebrate with you if it's convenient to your schedule. I'd like to come early enough to hit the Farmer's Market if they're up and running so we can look for tomato plants and maybe flowers.

The snow is just starting to drift down around 11:15 am here. I was so hoping it would miss us. I'm done with snow for this season, thank you.

Sorry to hear you're feeling crappy. Seems to be a fair amount of that going around. Glad the candy and movies will be a little comfort. Enjoy! (and Happy Easter!)

That cereal tasted so good at bedtime last night that I decided to repeat it tonight. Gotta watch so it doesn't become habit, but I do think I slept better with a little extra protein in my stomach.

Feeling more energized today - it's a nice feeling. I had more energy during exercise and it hasn't faded so I'm hoping it will last the day. I got a good night's sleep last night. Good things ahead. Scale was slightly lower than last week, too - and on a Monday yet!

Had some sugar cravings this afternoon. Gave in to a peanut butter ball, 2 yogurt pretzels and a Nestle's caramel mini-egg. Not too bad considering I could have gone for much more.

Last time I took my client to Marshfield for her psychiatrist appointment, I copied a recipe from a waiting room magazine for Easy Chicken Biryani. I made it for supper tonight (yes, I occasionally do use the recipes I copy, thank you) and it was delicious!

Went to read in bed after what was hopefully the last on-call of the week (since I can turn the pager over tomorrow). About 8:30, I got so hungry I felt the need of cereal before sleep which is unusual for me. The biryani was good, but I guess not sufficiently filling.

I would normally be very annoyed to see it snowing outside, but today I confess to hoping you get really nasty snow, cold, etc. in Madison so that Sarah Palin and her Tea Party friends get a taste of doing their protest in the nastier weather Wisconsin has to offer. Of course, I suppose Scotty will open up the Capitol for them to come inside where it's warm.

In case you don't follow Sir Ian on Facebook, he recently posted this link to a video blog with Peter Jackson on the earliest filming stages of the Hobbit. He promises additional installments so Like Sir Ian to keep in the loop if you enjoy this as I did. It's like watching the Special Features on the extended DVD before the movie comes out!

I like the tickled penguin. An animal video even I can enjoy.

Enjoyed looking through the cast photos for Game of Thrones and their previous Geek film histories. For the most part, the casting looks very good but the ugly characters don't look ugly enough. Tyrion and Sandor Clegane's distinctive looks are not sufficiently exaggerated in the photos they have released so far.

Felt a bit more creative with cooking today, likely a result of having a relaxing day with minimal obligations. Making chicken breasts baked in the oven topped with mango pineapple salsa, toasted coconut, toasted slivered almonds and cilantro. Making a mini-pan of the sweet potatoes we usually have for Thanksgiving but with toasted pecans instead of walnuts. Carrots with butter spray and parsley to top it off. Looking forward to dinner. Will probably finish the bottle of blackberry wine. Unfortunately the video store was still out of Black Swan which was the post-dinner plan.

Did another of my White Elephant sale purchase Pilates videos today. I really feel like I got my $10 worth with this package.

Supper was as nummy as predicted. I put the whole large chicken breast on my plate thinking I would only make it through about half, but surprisingly I ate almost all of it.

Just read an article that said eating fast can triple your chances of being overweight. I have slipped back into the habit of eating too quickly. Maybe it's time to reread French Women Don't Get Fat. That book did inspire me to slow down and taste my food for awhile.

I was so under-motivated at lunch that I considered taking a "Scott Walker sick day" afternoon. (Since I probably won't be able to use my sick-day conversion to health insurance when I retire, and if Milwaukee is an indicator, may lose paid sick time altogether, I might as well use it before I lose it.) Instead I worked all afternoon like a good girl, and before the end of the day the on-call pager went off and I am just finishing up at 7:50 pm. I sincerely hope this is it for the week!

Dad is out picking up the cheese fries and I'm still going to try to watch Harry Potter (if I don't fall asleep first!)

I'm proud of myself for getting through the kickboxing workout this morning. I was too tired to go to the gym after work yesterday so I just came home, made pizza, and we did the grocery run for the Bootstrap bags for church. I'm still tired today, but I get my hair cut and colored this evening so I know I can't work out again later. Had to choose one of my more energetic workouts this morning, especially because I have Intake this morning which means I'm stuck in my office.

God bless Sue who calls to remind me that my appointment is half an hour later than usual tonight. She knows me so well that she knows I would have shown up at the usual time. She was right.

Used my White Elephant purchase Denise Austin DVD today. I think I got my $10 worth even if the other two videos don't prove as useful. This was a good combo workout using a provided resistance band.

Gave in to snacks on the counter at work today. Bad mommy.

Bugs are starting to appear in the basement with the onset of slightly warmer weather. I saw the first ant this morning, and a sow bug. I have seen a couple of sow bugs earlier also. It can't be too long til centipedes and spiders start to disturb my morning wa.

I picked up three new exercise videos on the silent auction at work last week. I will try the Denise Austin combo cardio/resistance band tomorrow. This morning I wasn't very bright-eyed so I opted for familiarity.

Concerts went well; Pigeons was well-received. No rotten tomatoes from bird lovers.

Read an article this morning that they did a study on middle-aged women. Eating a can of tuna each week reduced their chances of getting macular degeneration by 45%. I had tuna for lunch.

I made tuna salad to put on bread by mixing in a little 0% plain Greek yogurt (since I'm not fond of mayo) and a tbl of pickle relish. It isn't a bad sandwich fixing. I will probably research some other reasonable uses of canned tuna and will keep you posted if I find some palatable options. Let me know if you hear of good options as well.

Last concert today, meaning I get my evening free tonight also. There are some aging bananas on the kitchen counter that are calling out for banana bread so that may be an evening project.

International Dinner was fun last night. Haven't gone in so many years that it was fun to revisit. They had a very nice fish dish with the main course, and the Indian butter chicken was also delicious. Entertainment was also of a better caliber than I remember.

Joined the choir at Michele's after the concert for an appetizer dinner.

Heard that next year's Trivia contest is on the weekend of your birthday. Will be a good weekend to come to Point for Trivia in 2012.

Concert went well last night. Pigeons was well-received. My coworker, Merry, decided she doesn't want to do Trivia phones so she's giving her spot to Dad who is thrilled, so we will be answering Trivia phones together tomorrow. BTW, today is the 30th anniversary of our first date, without which you might not be here!

Damn, I see the Supreme Court race is still too close to call. I was really hoping Kloppenburg would win so decisively that Walker would be quaking in his boots this morning.

Here's hoping the vote count holds up and it truly is a win. Wisconsin would be so much better off looking to the future.

The lady who taught Pilates when we were in Mexico asked permission today to submit our photo to Fit Bodies website. They are the organization that arranges for her to go to Mexico to teach.

Could be a busy office day today with having been out at a conference Thurs/Fri. I know I'm supposed to discharge someone from a group home and take her home to Rosholt around lunch time, and I'm worried that she's not ready to go but the bed is needed for someone else. Have to see how this plays out.

Went to the ACT shack tonight and Max helped me find hat, gloves, and purse to match my suit for Poisoning Pigeons in the Park.

Happy April Fool's Day! Hope you aren't too plagued by pranksters today. Mother Nature sending more snow is prank enough.

Actually somewhat looking forward to the second day of the training today. The presenter is interesting, keeps to her timetable, and the small group participation isn't as annoying as usual. Dad and I may rent Black Swan tonight with cheese fries for supper.

Conference was a little less satisfying today; some of the group exercises were way too long. Probably we were just anxious to be done for the week. Food at this conference was good and made a general effort to be healthier than usual.
