Pager went off early yesterday, while I was still at a home visit finishing up my regular work day. Took me about an hour afterward to button things up which I was able to do from home, and fortunately things were quiet afterward. I'm hoping for a quiet weekend overall. Following Cook' Illustrated cookbook instructions to braise a beef brisket, something I have not tried before. They say it's best to refrigerate it overnight and eat it tomorrow, though they do give instructions if you plan to eat it the same day. We'll see when the time comes if I can bear to wait. I love the technique for cooking the onions; will definitely use that regularly. The downside of braising this brisket today is that it smells incredible and makes me want to munch on things. Satisfied the unexplained urge to dance lately with 40 min of Wii Zumba. Wow, what a supper. After smelling that amazing aroma all day, there was no way I was putting it away to eat tomorrow. I roasted some sweet potato wedges and heated the last of Joanne's delicious squash, and topped mine off with a Lake Louie scotch ale. Life is good. There is something very satisfying about having spent a significant amount of time working on a meal that turned out wonderfully, even though it was only shared by two. The warm feeling in my belly and soul continues.
