Sun 17 Sept

It's definitely a cold and it's in full swing. The Advil Cold & Sinus is good but only lasts 4-6 hours so I found myself waking up in the night when it wore off. Last night I used my 12-hour Sudafed but it was battling the congestion and not always winning. At least I can hope it's worked its way out of my system before we hike at the North Shore. I made it through a 6.5 mile walk along the riverside path yesterday even though it was "one foot in front of the other" for a good portion of the walk. Friday had been pretty sedentary with the car ride and several errands taking all our time in Door Co. No time for a hike there. We did get our yearly supply of apples including a large bag of Galas. If we have some left (very likely), we'll share when we next get to Madison. That's likely to be Sat, Oct 1. We also hit the Farmer's Market in Green Bay yesterday, so now I need to find time (and energy) to roast red and gold beets and fennel, grill sweet corn, and use my peppers while they're still fresh. I even bought some poblano peppers which I've never used before. Maybe I'll try roasting some.

New electric mattress pad for the bed. Old one kaput. Warm bed again.

Learned today that Gala apples don't break down into sauce when you cook them. But a dish of cooked chunks lightly sugared and spiced was still yummy.
