Mon 16 Sept

Still not feeling great this morning. Cut the exercise a little short, eliminating the lunges and floor work. Was thinking about taking some time off again today, but feeling a bit better now. We'll see. I need to get my logs and payroll done, and I'll look at my schedule and evaluate whether I think rest would help. One of our psychiatrists had a table at the Walk for Hope Saturday and we engaged in a conversation about running. She told me to check out Chi Running on the net. It is a style of running similar to barefoot running in which you strike on the ball of the foot and lean your body forward so you are striking beneath your body weight to propel yourself as opposed to striding in front of your body to drag your weight up to your foot. She claims it is much less tiring and less prone to injury as your knees stay bent. I tried walking briskly using this technique on my break. I could see my silhouette and it looks a little silly while walking, but it was less tiring overall and I could walk at a faster pace than usual. My back was a little sore from holding my posture at an unusual angle, but I think this merits further exploration. Did a little of the new posture on the evening walk, but my muscles aren't sufficiently trained yet to keep it up for an hour.
