Wed 21 Nov
I'm feeling a little overwhelmed at the busy day ahead, both at work and at home to prepare for Thanksgiving. My work schedule is almost completely filled with appointments, leaving little time for phone calls or responding to things as they occur. I need to pick up celery and green grapes from the grocery (though I can send Dad if I don't get time), and I have a prep list of things to complete tonight for tomorrow's meal. I did get the table cleared and a fresh tablecloth on last night and put the turkey into the brining solution early. The directions said it should brine for 24 hours and it would have been shortchanged if I started it this evening so I decided it isn't likely to hurt in the fridge if it's in the solution a little longer.
Work day is finished, not quite as stressful as anticipated but busy enough. Already popped the sweet potatoes in the oven to bake, so a start on the evening's tasks.
I am pleased with myself. Both pies are in the oven before 6 pm, so all that's left for after supper is chopping the veggies for stuffing and chopping the cranberries for the salad. This evening may be manageable yet. And dad's picking up cheese fries - his idea, bless him! - so I don't have to come up with dinner.
Ah, delight! Just enough leftover calories for the day to enjoy a glass of wine.
