Didn't get to Aldi to restock cantaloupe last night. I can only buy them one at a time in this weather or they rot. Instead took a chance on the pager being quiet to walk to Tokyo Steak House for sushi, the new Culver's for ice cream, and Kmart for shopping. Was fortunate that the pager didn't go off until we were about 2 1/2 blocks from home. Took about 45 min to resolve, but didn't have to go out.
I'm quite annoyed with Ranchito's. They advertise happy hour Mon-Thurs 3-6 pm with $2.50 12-oz on the rocks Margaritas. I ordered a margarita on the rocks when we came in around 4:30 and when I got my bill, they charged $6. When I asked about it, I was told this wasn't the 12-oz margarita, but no one had ever asked whether I wanted the special. I rarely do this, but I left no tip at all. The waitress should have clarified what I was ordering. Let her get her tip from the management out of the extra $3.50 I was charged.

Happy Birthday, Grandma! She would have been 96 today. Send her some loving memories. I hope she is happily enjoying this birthday with Dad and Mark, free from bodily infirmities.
Between yesterday morning and today, I managed to pee out over 3 pounds of water. Felt like I was in the bathroom half the day and night. I had salty food on Mon evening in addition to the humidity, so I'm not surprised it chose to depart all at once.
Just got back from taking my client to Marshfield. When she got out of the car upon our return, she had obviously been surprised by her period because my light grey fabric car seat was stained with a large spot of blood. She doesn't sit still well, so it was spread over an area about 8-9 inches in diameter. Fortunately, Shout and some scrubbing got it out as soon as I got home. Further note: Dad was optimistic when he said the scrubbing got the stain out. There is still a substantial double sits-mark bloody stain remaining. I am asking the County to pay for professional cleaning. In the meantime, Dad is giving it another try with Oxy-Clean.
Walked to Tokyo Steak House for half-price sushi, Culver's for dessert, and Kmart to buy a cheap, lightweight pair of tennis shoes for the trip.

Full, busy work week ahead. Luckily I have much more energy, dating back to the long afternoon nap yesterday. I woke from that nap feeling more refreshed than in a long time, and the feeling has remained. I'll take it.

Really wanted to sleep in this morning and decided that a Sunday was a better day to do so. I was going to have to get up at 5:30 because Mass is earlier than usual and at St Stan's, and just didn't feel like rolling out even though I had gotten 8 hours. Let myself go back til 7:00 and feeling much better for it. I should have time during the day today to make up the exercise so it should be a wash.
Got a lot of pre-packing stuff done today. We organized our toiletries/quart bags, scanned important documents and put originals in money belt, packed many things in my backpack and have most of the clothes laid out on the bed. Feeling much readier!
Wow, just took a longer-than-usual nap. What's with this sleepiness, anyway?

Only two weeks til vacation so we're getting into crunch time for planning, making packing lists, making sure everything on the lists is available and ready to go. Michael and Taylor will come this evening for a cookout so I will bake a peach crisp, walk to the Farmer's Market for fresh veggies, go to Aldi's for a few other grocery needs. We may go looking for some shoes for Dad as well. Busy sort of day. At least I've already changed the sheets, washed and hung them on the line, and the second load is in the washer.
Food:

Had a lovely hike at Rib last night, and while waiting for food at the Dane, we decided to try again this evening and finish with a fish fry at Pinewood. Called and made reservations for 7, so we'll take a short hike just to get in a little exercise before dinner.
This morning was definitely a "Don't wanna!" day, but I managed to do some weights and the rest power walking. Still feeling like "Don't wanna!" but I guess I'll go to work anyway.
Meeting my Friday breakfast client (if she shows) back at JoJo's today. Looking forward to their homemade toast.
Had an annoying experience at the restaurant. When they brought my order, it strongly appeared to be regular store-bought toast, possibly not even wheat. I sent it back because I really wanted the homemade wheat toast, and the kitchen insisted it was their homemade, just sliced thinner than usual. I would swear it wasn't as the texture didn't even look the same, but rather than fight them, I just left it untouched on the plate. The waitress noticed I wouldn't eat it and they offered to cut a new loaf and make me more, so I agreed. The second batch looked like I had expected and tasted fine, but I could hear the waitress/kitchen staff/unsavory owner grumbling about it the rest of the time I was there so I got an unordered side dish of animosity with my toast. Most unpleasant.
Just got the news that Jim Moore passed away yesterday. Dad and I saw him earlier in the summer outside the Fine Arts building. He was having a good day and was his old bubbly self, so it was a good last time to have seen him.

Nice that it's already Thursday. No scheduled weekend activities beyond church either of the next two weekends before vacation, so time to finish any planning chores. Traded that weekend of on-call for one in September to help out a coworker who had a family reunion scheduled. I kind of like breaking up on-call by doing the weekend at a different time, even though it means spreading the responsibility over an extra week. Having the weekend off in the middle of your on-call week is lovely.
Smart TV did not want to wake up this morning so I couldn't do the YouTube video I had originally planned. Fortunately I have my extensive video library to fall back on, even if I waste some time trying option 1.
Whoa, what a morning! The phone hardly stopped ringing at all til almost 11 am. I had no time to write things up before the next call came in. Finally had a little breather toward the end of the Intake shift.

This morning I get my stitches out from the little piece the dermatologist took out of my midsection. No cancer cells this time around. Last year he apparently got everything, including the lower level.
Watched the long packing video again last night so we can prepare to do the real thing now. No more scheduled overnights til vacation, so I plan to start setting out everything I don't need to use before I leave to make the final cuts. I think I may really be able to make myself pack very light this time, making travel easier and leaving some room for overseas purchases. Only problem with watching the video last night is that it was hard to fall asleep as I thought about specific things to take (or not).
Yum! Freshly made tuna salad on cranberry oat bread. Liking it.

The Cambria Suites are really very nice. Enjoyed a Bailey's on the rocks last night before retiring to the room. Looking forward to what I remember to be a very nice breakfast, followed by a walk in that lovely sunshine.
Yes, the breakfast was very nice. Scrambled eggs, bacon, fluffy French toast w/powdered sugar, really nice chunks ofmixed fresh fruit, OJ, coffee, and oatmeal. Wisdom should have suggested I eat lighter given the plan for the remainder of the day, but so much for wisdom.

Hard to find the motivation to exercise this morning, but I managed it. I'm proud of myself for pushing through it.

Full week of work this week, then Monday off to come down for Restaurant Week. My whiniest client is scheduled to be released from jail today after about a full year. Should be interesting getting him reestablished in the community.
Got into work and realized I had a breakfast appointment with my usual Friday client rescheduled to today. She hates it if I don't eat anything, so I just had a single scrambled egg to be polite.
Bought shelled peas at the Green Bay Farmer's Market but they did not survive coming home in the car in a plastic bag. Sad.

Sun is fighting to come out this morning. We should be able to walk to St. Willebord for mass after breakfast and return to the hotel to change before checkout. Maybe a stroll on the river path after and definitely a stop at Costco before heading home.
Home by about 6:30 pm. We had a nice breakfast at St. Brendan's, then took a 2-hour walk along the river path. Weather was lovely, breezy and warm. We had a good Costco run, followed by a very nice lunch on the terrace outside Cafe Chanson in mid-afternoon. We stopped in Appleton on the way home for ice cream at VandeWalle's, which will be my supper for the day. If anything else is needed, we have fresh strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, plums, peaches, etc.

Today would have been my 39th wedding anniversary had I remained with Steve. Hard to I agine what my life would be like now given how unhappy I was in that marriage. If I had never had children as he wanted, it seems that life would have been empty and shallow, and I would likely have been quite depressed. Glad things worked out as they did.
Had a wonderful day! Bought a lovely mille bells plant to replace the dying pansy bowl at the Farmers Market, along with yummy strawberries and blueberries and assorted other goodies. Bought some purple rice with mango and a steamed bun that we shared as a picnic in Peninsuala Park. Had a really nice hike after lunch, followed by a wine tasting at Simon Creek. Gelato and an unexpected purchase of a fun new dress in Sister Bay, tapas in Fish Creek, and back to the hotel for relaxation.

And already July enters double digits. Mercy, the summer flies!
Didn't feel too great yesterday - tired, headaches, overslept my lunch nap and was 45 min late for staffing. Woke up at around 2 am with the headache recurring; took a little bit for the ibuprofen to work. Got up to exercise but didn't feel right so went back and tried again to get up at 6:15. Felt okay now so showered and will go to work. Will have to make up my exercise later in the day, but the day is lovely so we hope to hike tonight which will be enough. We'd both like to play hooky and go hiking right now, but sadly we know we'd get in trouble so we will just wait.
Feeling much better by noon today. Did my fitness challenge of 15 min of leg exercises in my office this morning (with the door closed). Set timer on my phone and had at.

I get to see Dr. Seavecki's new digs today for the first time. Both Dad and Michael have already been there. Hopefully my teeth remain healthy for now. I plan to look into single coverage dental insurance through work for next year as I understand from coworkers that the single plan is affordable even though the family plan has never seemed to be. I may likely need some crowns as my old fillings age, so if even my teeth are less expensive, it's a good thing.
I am so tired today, I think I'd do most anything for a full nap.

Got my Target bill paid and reservations for 43 North for Monday evening. Still haven't determined the restaurants for Sun evening and Monday lunch. Need to do that soon.
Didn't sleep too soundly last night, lots of tossing and turning. Not sure if it was because we didn't hike (rainy weather) or what. I did get my daily steps in so it shouldn't have been a big deal. Maybe just time for a restless night.

Not too hot, but heavy feeling this morning. The air isn't moving at all as far as I can feel. Only supposed to be in low to mid 70s today though.
Could feel in my arms this morning that I also did a weights workout yesterday.
My breakfast lady hadn't responded whether she wanted to meet today in lieu of Friday, but she called me around 8:45 to say she was waiting. I had eaten breakfast, but opted for a couple of eggs as she is uncomfortable if I'm not eating at all.

Feels a little different for a Sunday. My wellness task was 30 min of total body workout, so I opted not to do the usual ballet routine but to do a 60-min The Firm Total Body Conditioning workout. It was good to do the weights and all as I didn't do them all weekend.
Recently read somewhere that a wedge of the light spreadable cheese makes a nice addition to scrambled eggs and was anxious to try it. Scrambled up some eggs for our after-church brunch w/fresh herbs, fresh tomato and green pepper as well. Yum! Topped off with a piece of yesterday's rhubarb cake, can't get a much better lunch.
Food:

Yesterday was a very relaxing day. Today should also be pleasant. The plan is to walk to the Farmer's Market this morning for my wellness challenge "to try something different" and to pick up veggies for tonight's dinner with Hartmans. Then I need to make dessert, which may be another rhubarb cake or else a rhubarb crisp, cut up chicken breast and set it to marinate, make sure I have enough good stuff to assemble skewers for the grill, maybe prepare sweet potatoes for wedges (which I think I'll do in the oven as opposed to the grill so they aren't as likely to char). We will go for a walk with Hartmans, possibly before dinner. I also want to make homemade sangria during the day so it has time to "set".
We ordered a new antenna for the house to hopefully cut the cord from Charter Cable and still be able to watch Packer games. It arrived from Amazon today so Dad will put it up. We had a lovely walk to the Farmer's Market and did find something totally new to us: water spinach. It looks like long, wide grass and supposedly will be good on salads, stir fries, or with sour papaya (Gosh, I'm all out of that!) My favorite old Amherst bakery guy was at the market with his delicious pastries and breads. He said he built his oven on his property by Lake Emily and just does Farmer's Markets. We will have to make Saturday market a more regular occurrence.
Food:

9:30 am 1/ prune brioche-like pastry

I was inspired to sing songs from George M last night, but the spirit hasn't so moved me yet today. My wellness tasks today are to drink 7-8 cups of water (which is rarely missed for me anyway) and to get 15 min of cardio, also not difficult. Tomorrow we're supposed to go to the local Farmer's Market and try something new. I believe the weather should be nice tomorrow at least in the morning, so a walk to the market will be fun. Today we might hike Rib or who knows what. I want to make homemade sangria.
Dad and I did both the bike ride (19 miles) and the full Rib hike, then positively devoured a good-sized fish fry at Pinewood Supper Club, followed by several games of dominos. Nice day.

Oatmeal really tastes good on these cooler mornings. Looking forward to two days in a row when I can sleep in and get up on my own time. We have some things to do this weekend, but nothing that requires getting up at a specific time until church on Sunday.
I did some major cleaning in my office this morning. It was getting too cluttered for effective work and it's much better now, thanks.

I dreamt at length last night about flying overseas with a morbidly obese person in the next seat overflowing into half of mine. I had to get assistance from the flight attendant to dig out the other side of my seat belt because the person couldn't/wouldn't move. I knew I needed to try to get some sleep but it was very difficult with this large stranger pressed against me. Not a pleasant dream.

Tues 1 Jul
Half of 2014 is history; on to the second half. I generally prefer the second half of the year as it starts with summer, ends with Christmas, and has all of the beautiful fall and none of that nasty "will winter never end!" time.
My wellness challenge today is 5 servings of fruits/veggies. Cantaloupe and raspberries for breakfast is two. I'm going to count the refried beans as a serving of veggies at lunch even though it's kind of starchy. Snap peas for a snack so I just need one more at dinner.
Still hungry before Pilates, so will opt for an apricot for another fruit.

6:50 am Morning bun, 1/4 large cantaloupe, 101 g raspberries, coffee
12:00 pm Chips/salsa, tamale, 1/3 c refried beans, 1/4 c Mexican rice
3:30 pm 2/3 graham cracker, 1 marshmallow
4:45 pm 6 snap peas
5:25 pm Apricot
8:15 pm 114 g spinach cheese ravioli, 1/2 c arrabiata sauce, 1 tbl shredded parmesan, 1.5 c sliced canned beets, 8 oz skim milk

5:30-5:50 pm Walk to Pilates
