Looking forward to the Empty Bowls hunger fundraiser today - $10 buys a bowl of a choice of delicious soups donated by local restaurants, bread, and cookie and you choose a handmade pottery bowl to take home. We have quite a collection of bowls from past years but we do use at least some of them. It's fun to choose them from the variety that people have made over the year and the soup has always been wonderful. Tom Pease usually plays as part of the entertainment.
Made a nice veggie soup with the leftover juices from the crock pot pork roast serving as the base. Added leek, carrots, celery, parsnip, fresh Italian parsley, green and red peppers. Yum!
Food:
8:15 am Strawberry/vanilla soy shake, small banana sliced in 2 oz light vanilla soy milk, cherry juice from concentrate, coffee
11:45 am 1 c chicken gumbo soup, 1 slice garlic bread, 2 peanut butter cookies, 12 oz diet Coke
2:00 pm Pecan bar
4:30 pm Frosted molasses cookie
6:15 pm 1 c vegetable soup, 4 oz white wine, 12 oz light vanilla soy milk, 1 pc string cheese

If you're acquiring too many, you could always unload a couple of the less-frequently-used bowls on me. I use bowls quite a bit.
