Tues 24 Jun
I learned on public radio yesterday that it was the true Midsummer's Eve, the eve of St. Jean Baptiste Day. It is also when the summer moon is high and there is a lot of honey in the bees' hives. It was called the Mead Moon because they used the honey to make mead, and this is also the origin of the phrase "honey moon". Some author said, "Midsummer's night is not long, but it sets many a cradle rocking."
