31 December 2020

Thurs 31 Dec

Sayonara, 2020! People will be extremely happy to see the back end of this year, hoping beyond hope that next year shows improvements. I thank the Lord that our family has made it through this year with our health intact, safe and doing okay. We have all (except Taylor) been able to continue our regular source of income so we haven't gone hungry or had to worry about evictions or power shutoffs. Michael and Taylor got married this year. Things haven't been so bad for us. But my heart aches for much of the rest of the world who have had to deal with losses of loved ones to Co-Vid, disability from illness, loss of income, etc. And for the violence and racism that have hurt so many. Lord, please send healing in 2021 and show us the way to make the world a better place. (And please let Trump leave office peaceably.) Food: 8:10 am Caramel pecan roll, 101 g blackberries, coffee

30 December 2020

Wed 30 Dec

Had a lovely holiday dinner with Michael and Taylor yesterday evening. The duck they slow-cooked was absolutely scrumptious. The goose I cooked was a little dry and quite a bit chewier, but it was a big bird, at the top end of what Julia Child said would begin to be tough. Really enjoyed the food, the camaraderie, and the gifts were a hit. Food: 7:50 am Caramel pecan roll, 101 g blackberries, coffee 10:30 am Chocolate coated dunker 12:15 pm Whole wheat English muffin, 2 scrambled eggs, cheddar cheese, Satsuma Exercise: 9:00-10:00 am Body Pump class

29 December 2020

Tues 29 Dec

Had a dream, half-awake, this morning that I was having a heart attack and had to go to the hospital. It was a bit disconcerting. Skipped the annoyting Yogalates instructor at the gym and did a Pilates mat at home instead. Much more satisfying and safer, too. Food: 7:55 am Hot cocoa cinnamon roll, 101 g blackberries, coffee 11:40 am Mac n cheese Exercise: 8:50-9:35 am Pilates mat

28 December 2020

Mon 28 Dec

Chilly with a thin layer of snow outside, enough that I think Bob is going at it with the snowblower. I should try to get the kids' gifts organized and wrapped today and make a final decision on what to put aside for Taylor's birthday next week Wednesday. Food: 7:55 am Hot cocoa cinnamon roll, 101 g blackberries, coffee

27 December 2020

Sun 27 Dec

Here we are, post-holiday but actually also pre-holiday since we're celebrating with Michael and Taylor on Tuesday. Kind of a nice mix of relaxation with a hint of anticipation. I looked at NYE specials in Madison, and they are a mix of take-out and dine-in in small groups. Once place lets you rent "snow globes" for parties of 4-6 people. It's good that people are being creative in managing things as well as possible, but I'm sure there are too many places where people will choose to gather in large groups anyway. Waiting for the Hot Chocolate cinnamon rolls to finish baking. 8:10 am 101 g blackberries, coffee, hot chocolate cinnamon roll (to come) 10:30 am Chocolate covered dunker 12:15 pm 3 eggnog pancakes w/butter & syrup, 2 slices bacon, 3/4 c eggnog

26 December 2020

Sat 26 Dec

Happy Boxing Day! No Farmer's Market today so no real out-of-house commitments. Weather is somewhat milder, so I suspect a hike is in the offing. I'm also doing catchup laundry and may do towels and possibly even merino today. Food: 8:25 am Caramel pecan roll, 101 g blackberries, coffee 10:30 am Chocolate coated dunker 12:15 pm Whole wheat English muffin w/butter, butternut squash bisque, 2 slices Swiss cheese

25 December 2020

Merry Christmas 2020!

A quiet Christmas day ahead for us with Laura in Madison and Michael and Taylor in Ironwood. I still need to wrap our presents! I'll make a rack of lamb roast for dinner this evening, maybe roast a butternut squash to go with it and bake some sweet potatoes? Haven't thought that far ahead! Food: 8:05 am Caramel pecan roll, 101 g blackberries, coffee

24 December 2020

Christmas Eve 2020

The cold weather did indeed move in and Bob is fretting over the temperatures for our walk with Hartmans. We haven't yet been in contact this morning, so I'm not sure of the plans. Had a really nice visit from Michael and Taylor yesterday evening, sharing wine and giving them their Christmas stockings and kitty gift, saving the main gifts for our dinner get-together on Tuesday evening. They sent a picture of Mewis in the cat house, so he seems to like it. They seemed to like all of their stocking stuffers, including Michael's papaya! Food: 8:05 am Pear coffee cake, 101 g blackberries, coffee

23 December 2020

Wed 23 Dec

Today I pick up our Christmas goose and get my hair done. Will try to get the butterhorn dough prepared as well, and maybe put up the creche. Busy day. Food: 7:50 am Pear coffee cake, 101 g blackberries, coffee

22 December 2020

Tues 22 Dec

Completely cloudy sky last night obscured any possible view of the "Star of Bethlehem" convergence of planets that hasn't been seen since 1225. Hopefully there will be Internet pictures from elsewhere on the globe where the skies were clear. Food: 8:00 am Cinnamon roll, 101 g blackberries, coffee

21 December 2020

Mon 21 Dec

Soltice comes but twice a year. After today, the days again start to lengthen. Always a pleasant thought. This last week before Christmas generally just disappears. Food: 7:55 am Cinnamon roll, 101 g blackberries, coffee

20 December 2020

Sun 20 Dec

Had a really nice trip to Madison yesterday. Visited with Laura (and briefly with Kat), saw Annie, spent lots of money at Costco, good Trader Joe's run with yummy sandwiches to eat in the car for supper, safe travels on decent roads. Packers won even though I didn't watch. Food: 8:20 am Cinnamon roll, 101 g blackberries, coffee

19 December 2020

Sat 19 Dec

Didn't sleep very well last night, just rested at the surface of sleep. Did finish baking the cookies yesterday evening so we'll have some to give to Laura today, and to share with Michael/Taylor and Leone/Mick and Hartmans. Food: 8:00 am Morning bun, 41 g blackberries, coffee

18 December 2020

Fri 18 Dec

If I were still working, I'd be getting very excited for a four-day weekend to come. The seasonal attractions are wonderful, but the time off this time of year for tired workers is also important. I feel so fortunate to be able to be retired and not have to get so stressed out often. I found out yesterday that Bootstrap is closed not only on Christmas Eve, but also the afternoon of New Year's Eve, so I don't return til next year. Food: 8:00 am Morning bun, 101 g blackberries, coffee

17 December 2020

Thurs 17 Dec

Got the stocking stuffers in one go at Aldi yesterday evening, enough to fill everyone's brim-full except mine. I should have no problem topping mine off at TJs. Had a little mix-up with Farmshed; apparently I was sufficiently confused by their interface that I ordered the delivery and not the soup, though I do remember submitting the soup order. We were able to get it sorted out and Trevor brought it on his delivery bike, so Farmshed chili is waiting for dinner tonight. No Kathy walk this morning, so I'm going to try to motivate to get the cookie dough made. Food: 7:55 am Morning bun, 101 g blackberries, coffee

16 December 2020

Wed 16 Dec

Oh my, the days are flying by. Still need to make Christmas cookies, finish trimming the tree, buy stocking stuffers! Eeeek! Food: 8:00 am Lemon blueberry coffee cake, 101 g blackberries, coffee 11:55 am Multigrain crispbread cracker, smoked trout spread, large red pear Exercise: 9:00-9:55 am Body Pump class

15 December 2020

Tues 15 Dec

Chilly morning, required turning on the house heat. Fireplace isn't enough and takes too long to warm the house when it's under 20° outside. Michael and Taylor stopped over with coffee cake as a thank you for Bob getting the furnace fixed and for the down comforter we gave them. Sounds like they'd prefer to do Christmas dinner on another day and to cook food separately, share portions, and eat at home with FaceTime. Whatever. Food: 7:55 am Lemon blueberry coffee cake, 101 g blackberries, coffee 12:15 pm Slice Loven Fresh whole wheat, butter, slice Bourbon ham, slice baby Swiss, small English cucumber, Bosc pear Exercise: 9:15-10:15 pm Yogalates class

14 December 2020

Mon 14 Dec

Chilly morning. Packers won, though once again they didn't let the viewer relax til the final seconds of the final drive. Looked like they were going to give away their comfortable lead on numerous penalties and a long kick return, but they held on by their fingernails. Plans still in place to visit Laura on Saturday, so I'm going to try to fill a stocking for her this week. Let Michael know that we'll willingly courier anything they might want to send. Food: 7:55 am Morning bun, 101 g blackberries, coffee 1:15 pm English muffin, 2 scrambled eggs, cheddar cheese, 1/2 grapefruit Exercise: 10:00-11:00 am Pilates class

13 December 2020

Sun 13 Dec

Starting to get chillier again now, but since it's almost mid-December, we really have nothing to complain about. Bob had to get up this morning and go get Taylor's furnace going. They had a blown fuse and she is home this weekend doing a girls' weekend with Grace. Reggie had bought some fuses so they had what was needed to fix the problem. Food: 8:10 am Morning bun, 101 g blackberries, coffee

12 December 2020

Sat 12 Dec

Hoping very much that David will be at the Market today with pre-Christmas goodies for us. Will be so nice to taste his artistry again. Oh, well. Not this week (again). Heard he was delayed a week, so maybe next week. He'll probably trot out his traditional specialty goodies so we'll have to wait even longer for morning pastries. The fish lady whose daughter makes delicious morning buns had a big supply and insisted on giving us a discount for bulk purchase. We'll have good bakery this week anyway, if a little repetitive. Food: 8:45 am Morning bun, 101 g blackberries, coffee

11 December 2020

Fri 11 Dec

Seven years ago (and two days) since my mama passed away quietly in her bed at Whispering Pines. Thinking of you today, Mom. Smile on us. Another Friday, laundry day, onset of the weekend. Maybe the holiday Baking Show will be on Netflix today? Food: 7:55 am Morning bun, 101 g blackberries, coffee 1:20 pm Slice Loven Fresh whole wheat bread, slice Bourbon baked ham, slice baby Swiss, English cucumber, small pear Exercise: 9:00-10:00 am Body Pump class 10:15-11:15 am Yoga class

10 December 2020

Thurs 10 Dec

Looking forward to walking with Kathy this morning, and hoping to settle whether they will come for brunch on Christmas Eve this year, just the two of them. It's only two weeks away so I need to start planning. I also plan to broach the subject of eliminating the gift exchange altogether, except maybe a few Christmas cookies that would already be made. A little anxious as to the overall response. Food: 7:45 am Morning bun, 101 g blackberries, coffee

09 December 2020

Wed 9 Dec

Not nearly so dark today. Yesterday must have just been very overcast to be so dark in the morning. Today I can pick up a quart of Cheese Louise tomato basil soup at Farmshed! That will be a long-missed treat. Maybe I'll make grilled cheese sandwiches to accompany it for dinner tonight. Food: 7:55 am Morning bun, 101 g blackberries, coffee 12:25 pm 3/4 c plain Greek organic yogurt, 1/3 c pumpkin granola, small pear Exercise: 9:00-10:00 am Body Pump class

08 December 2020

Tues 8 Dec

Another cloudy day emphasizes the lack of light in this part of December. I'm not used to such darkness in the morning for my shower; usually there's a hint of sunrise in the east. Only a couple more weeks til solstice, and then it will start improving again. Hope Laura recovers enough in the next couple of weeks to give me some ideas of what to give her for Christmas. I have a few things put aside for Michael and Taylor, but nothing as yet for her. Also need to quiz M/T about a major gift idea. Food: 7:55 am Morning bun, 101 g blackberries, coffee 12:10 pm English muffin, 2 scrambled eggs, cheddar cheese, raspberries Exercise: 9:15-10:15 am Yogalates class

07 December 2020

Mon 7 Dec

Getting into the darkest days of the year, but then they will turn around soon. For now, we just get through December. Poor Laura sounded truly exhausted yesterday on the phone, but it didn't help that I woke her from a nap. I pray that she makes it through this end-of-semester crunch and gets some good rest before next semester starts afresh. Food: 7:50 am Morning bun, 101 g blackberries, coffee

06 December 2020

Sun 6 Dec

Happy St. Nicholas Day! I no longer put gifts in anyone's shoes or even mail things to the kids anymore, but I still have fond memories. We were able to get a whole week's worth of morning buns from the fish lady this week, and her daughter makes them far less sweet than Clasen's so I really prefer them. You can taste the butter in the dough. Food: 8:00 am Morning bun, 101 g blackberries, coffee

05 December 2020

Sat 5 Dec

Weekend already! They certainly fly by quickly. Gotta get a few more decorations down from the attic that I missed the first time, and try to find the remote tree switch for Taylor. Want to get to the Farmer's Market fairly early today. Otherwise no weekend plans at this point. Spent lots of money on food this morning: a week's worth of morning buns and fish from the fish lady, parsnips and yellow carrots, a red curry squash, eggs, and frozen tamales all at the Farmer's Market, then English muffins, a big pork roast for pulled pork and buns, frozen lobster bisque, two nice pieces of prime rib for tonight, Orville Redenbacher's for Bob at Metro Market. Good food to come! Food: 8:00 am Brioche chocolate chip roll, 101 g blackberries, coffee

04 December 2020

Fri 4 Dec

Pulled a red Moscato for tonight's wine, so need to think on something to mix it with to make it less cloying. This cherry coffee cake I bought from the people who run the farm stand by Family Video has been quite good. Sort of like a homemade version of the grocery store bar coffee cakes, a little more substantial. Not bad. Food: 7:45 am Cherry coffee cake, 101 g blackberries, coffee 12:55 pm Slice Innkeeper's Multigrain bread, ham salad, 95 g grape tomatoes Exercise: 9:00-9:55 am Body Pump class 10:15-11:20 am Yoga class

03 December 2020

Thurs 3 Dec

Walking with Kathy this morning; seems like it's been a long time with missing Thanksgiving and possibly also the week before. Don't think it's quite as cold this morning as I had expected either which is a pleasant surprise. Also back to Bootstrap this afternoon after a week off for Thanksgiving. Food: 7:55 am Cherry coffee cake, 101 g blackberries, coffee 12:00 pm English muffin, 2 scrambled eggs, cheddar cheese, pear Exercise: 8:30-10:00 am Walk w/Kathy

02 December 2020

Wed 2 Dec

December is feeling more wintry, as to be expected. Back into normal routine again, especially since Bob has his own vehicle back. Nothing unusual on the agenda for a few weeks, so time to get ready for Christmas. Food: 7:50 am Cherry coffee cake, 101 g blackberries, coffee

01 December 2020

Tues 1 Dec

Chilly morning today, low 20s. But it is December, so hard to complain. Gotta start making what plans can be made for celebrating the holidays soon. Got some gifts bought or ordered for Michael and Taylor, but no ideas yet for Laura. Food: 7:50 am Pecan kringle, 101 g blackberries, coffee

30 November 2020

Mon 30 Nov

Only one more month left after today of the year that everyone loves to vilify. Everyone hopes that 2021 will bring better times. Had a really nice visit with Michael and Taylor last night, sharing wine and conviviality. Food: 7:50 am Pecan kringle, 101 g blackberries, coffee 12:50 pm 2 fried eggs, 1 slice Innkeeper's multigrain toast w/butter, med banana Exercise: 10:00-11:00 am Pilates class

29 November 2020

Sun 29 Nov

This has seemed an especially long Thanksgiving weekend. It's been nice to have fairly mild weather so we could get out walking/hiking each day. Today is supposed to be somewhat windier. Food: 7:55 am Pecan kringle, 101 g blackberries, coffee 11:50 am English muffin, 2 scrambled eggs, cheddar cheese, 78 g raspberries

28 November 2020

Sat 28 Nov

Putting up the basic tree was not pleasant in that the lights did not all light and couldn't be fixed by Bob. New lit trees are very expensive and Bob clearly wasn't in favor of a real tree, so I was somewhat depressed by the situation. Didn't bother to get down the decorations. Went for a Schmeeckle walk, listened to O Ole Night radio show, watched the Bake-Off final (Peter won!), and finished my Bess book. Try again today. Food: 8:00 am Pecan kringle, 102 g blackberries, coffee 11:35 am Red curry squash galette, 2 sausages, sprout salad

27 November 2020

Fri 27 Nov

Thanksgiving is over and done; today we're planning to put up the Christmas tree. Next week we can finally start our wine Advent calendar. Christmas will be here before we know it. So goes the story. Food: 8:00 am Morning bun, 101 g blackberries, coffee

26 November 2020

Thurs 26 Nov

Happy Thanksgiving! So strange not to have a to-do list to cook for the meal today. Picking up food from Rockman's is sort of weird, but it's likely just the two of us, though we'll share with Michael and Taylor as he intends to share some of their home-cooked feast with us. Hopefully we'll video chat or at least phone chat with Laura as well today. Michael and Taylor have been invited for a visit if they feel comfortable, but I'll abide by their decision. Food: 7:55 am Caramel pecan roll, 101 g blackberries, coffee

25 November 2020

Wed 25 Nov

Today would have been my brother's birthday; I had erred on the numeric date of his death. Happy 69th, bro. Would have liked to have known you as an adult. Food: 7:50 am Chocolate croissant, 101 g blackberries, coffee 1:05 pm 2 pc lefse w/butter & cinnamon sugar, 2 sm slices Baby Swiss Exercise: 9:00-10:00 am Body Pump class

24 November 2020

Tues 24 Nov

Made the pumpkin pasta sauce recipe I found on SparkPeople for dinner yesterday. It was good. Different. I think I'll put the lamb roast into the Crock Pot tonight. Saw Anna putting her garbage cans down yesterday so we checked to verify the holiday schedule, and now we have our garbage out for pickup as well. Food: 7:50 am Morning bun, 101 g blackberries, coffee

23 November 2020

Mon 23 Nov

Sunshine today, likely snow tomorrow. Packers played an extremely sloppy game yesterday and lost. Was stressful to watch as it came down to overtime before the last fumble put paid to the effort. Food: 7:55 am Morning bun, 101 g blackberries, coffee

22 November 2020

Sun 22 Nov

Had a really nice visit with Laura yesterday, even though she sat on a blanket on her lawn and we sat in the car with the doors open. We all ate sushi and caught up, and then we went inside and met her brand new black kitty! She hasn't even settled on a name yet, though she's leaning toward LaBrea (like the tarpits). I prayed that the Lord would help heal her soul from the broken relationship amid the stress of school, and he sent the kitty to love her. Thank you, Lord! Food: 7:55 am Coffee cake, 101 g blackberries, coffee 12:30 pm 3 eggnog pancakes, 1 slice Nueske bacon, 1/2 c egg nog

21 November 2020

Sat 21 Nov

Sunshine, albeit cool temperatures. We'll go to the Farmer's Market, then drive down to Madison. Emailed Laura to see if she's free/interested in another outdoor meeting today. Would sure be nice to spend a little time with her. Food: 8:15 am Coffee cake, 101 g blackberries, coffee

20 November 2020

Fri 20 Nov

Sure was nice to have one more warm day yesterday. Even though I had Bootstrap in the afternoon, I appreciated being able to take orders out and be comfortable. It was quite the busy day. We decided to order Scott Rockman's high-end Thanksgiving dinner since Michael and Taylor have decided it is safer not to get together. Was nice to chat with Scott when I ordered yesterday. Food: 7:50 am Coffee cake, 101 g blackberries, coffee

19 November 2020

Thurs 19 Nov

The warm day has arrived as promised. Already low to mid-forties when I got up. Kathy has a conflict and can't walk today, but I'm going to go out on my own to take advantage of the warmer weather. Feel bad that I need the car for Bootstrap this afternoon, but Bob has asked to drop me off and pick me up. I'll text him about 15 min before pick-up time and hopefully it will work out okay. Good night's sleep; woke up once to pee and pretty much stayed asleep the rest of the time. I like it. Food: 7:50 am Coffee cake, 101 g blackberries, coffee

18 November 2020

Wed 18 Nov

Hopefully there will be no mask issues at the gym today. Nicole has been very consistent in wearing her mask correctly. Really don't want to get Co-Vid if it's at all possible. Food: 7:50 am Coffee cake, 101 g blackberries, coffee 12:40 pm English muffin, 2 scrambled eggs, cheddar cheese Exercise: 9:00-10:00 am Body Pump class

17 November 2020

Tues 17 Nov

It's good to taste good old Betty Crocker coffee cake for breakfast again. It's been awhile. Upset by new Yogalates instructor who wore her mask on her chin for the entire class. Food: 7:55 am Betty Crocker coffee cake, 101 g blackberries, coffee 12:10 pm English muffin, 2 scrambled eggs, cheddar cheese Exercise: 9:15-10:15 am Yogalates class

16 November 2020

Mon 16 Nov

Was able to chat with Laura yesterday. Packers won, but not prettily. Fireplace would not stay lit, likely due to high winds outside all day, though it's calmer this morning and it still won't work. Fortunately, the hot tub was spot on. Food: 8:00 am Pumpkin cinnamon roll, 101 g blackberries, coffee

15 November 2020

Sun 15 Nov

Christianah called yesterday! And after I had just been talking about her to Bob in the morning, wishing I could tell her that Michael got married! So nice to chat and catch up on our families. She sounds just the same. Also talked to Leone on the phone who is up and about now from her sciatica pain. Nice that even in these times of isolation, we can connect through the phone. Food: 8:00 am Pumpkin cinnamon roll, 101 g blackberries, coffee

14 November 2020

Sat 14 Nov

Chilly morning, but sunny skies. Nothing on the agenda for the weekend, and possibly too chilly to want to go on an extended hike, though we'll see as the day progresses. Food: 7:55 am Pumpkin cinnamon roll, 101 g blackberries, coffee

13 November 2020

Fri 13 Nov

Leone is 100 today! We woke up to light snow on the ground today, a change from the mild weather of last week. Food: 7:55 am Morning bun, 107 g blackberries, coffee 1:10 pm 2 scrambled eggs, 1 chanterelle mushroom, slice Innkeeper's multigrain toast w/butter Exercise: 9:00-10:00 am Body Pump class 10:15-11:15 am Yoga class

12 November 2020

Thurs 12 Nov

Busy day today with walk with Kathy, hair appointment, and Bootstrap. Don't have too many days that full anymore. Picked up food from Michele's last night when I saw an ad on Facebook around 3:30 pm for a 4-pack of shredded beef sandwiches w/mac n cheese, coleslaw, and cookies for $20. Two days' food for us at $5/plate. Food: 7:55 am Morning bun, 101 g blackberries, coffee 12:30 pm 1% plain Greek yogurt, 1/3 c pumpkin granola Exercise: 8:30-10:00 am Walk w/Kathy 12:10-12:30 pm Walk home from Hair Co

11 November 2020

Wed 11 Nov

In the earlier days of my PCHHS employment, today would have been the Veteran's Day holiday. My mom and I often took the day to go shopping to the Appleton mall to get a headstart on Christmas and just have a fun day out. We didn't get the day after Thanksgiving off then, and I usually worked since my coworkers had out-of-town families to visit, but it was a quiet day to catch up on filing and commiserate with the few others who also were covering their sections. Food: 7:50 am Morning bun, 102 g blackberries, coffee 12:20 pm Slice Innkeeper's bread, butter, cheddar cheese, 54 g raspberries Exercise: 9:15-10:05 am Body Pump class

10 November 2020

Tues 10 Nov

Had a great evening with Michael and Taylor yesterday to celelbrate their wedding. Killed the bottle of Veuve Cliquot, a bottle of Meoimi pinot noir and opened a bottle of zin. Didn't sleep too well after steak and scallops, chocolate cake, and too much alcohol but it was a lovely evening. Food: 7:55 am Chocolate chip danish, 102 g blackberries, coffee 12:20 pm English muffin, 1 tbl Jif, 100 g raspberries Exercise: 9:40-10:10 am Jessica Smith Pyramid Power Walk

09 November 2020

Mon 9 Nov

Was bummed out yesterday when Michael asked to postpone the wedding dinner to tonight because he was tired and sore from their Sheboygan visit and his time on the rifle range with "the guys". I won't allow myself to get too excited about tonight until I know for sure that they are coming. Temperatures were a little above 60 when I got up this morning! Unfortunately, this is likely the tail end of the lovely weather streak, but we have surely been gifted with beauty, especially last week when stress was running so high about the election. Food: 7:50 am Morning bun, 102 g blackberries, coffee 1:05 pm Slice Innkeeper's multigrain bread, 1 tbl Jif, 100 g raspberries Exercise: 10:00-11:00 am Pilates class

07 November 2020

Sat 7 Nov

The popular vote count continues to rise in Biden's favor and it is hopefully looking good that he will get enough electoral votes from at least one, if not more, of the as-yet-uncalled states to win the election. Still trying hard not to get too hopeful to avoid bitter disappointment if Trump finds a way to undermine the election. Another gorgeous day, with temps at 55 already when I got up at 7 am. Going to Madison to get new tires on the car, enjoy another sushi lunch with Laura, and get our erranding done (including finally returning that bulky shower caddy that doesn't fit my tub). Food: 8:00 am 3/4 c lowfat plain Greek yogurt, 1/3 c pumpkin granola, 101 g blackberries, coffee

06 November 2020

Fri 6 Nov

Still no definitive election results. Must be driving Trump craz(ier). Hopefully the results will be available in a reasonable time with no violence. Lord help us. At least the beautiful weather continues. I suspect we'll be doing Body Pump outdoors again today. Food: 7:55 am 1 c Quaker Oat Squares, skim milk, 101 g blackberries, coffee

05 November 2020

Thurs 5 Nov

Still no decision on the election, could be days yet. Trump is pulling out all his tricks to try to influence things, but that's not unexpected. Que sera, sera. Food: 7:50 am Caramel pecan roll, 101 g blackberries, coffee

04 November 2020

Wed 4 Nov

As expected, results are not yet in for the elections and the presidential race is still too close to call. Wisconsin is leaning Biden and Portage County is solidly blue already on the map which makes me feel good. Waiting is hard. Food: 7:50 am Caramel pecan roll, 102 g blackberries, coffee

03 November 2020

Tues 3 Nov

D-day. And oddly I don't feel as stressed about it today as I did yesterday. Que sera, sera. And we likley won't know for sure for a few days anyway while all the absentee ballots are counted. Whatever, life goes on. Food: 7:50 am Pumpkin spice donut, 101 g blackberries, coffee

02 November 2020

Mon 2 Nov

I'll be relieved when merely writing the date no longer causes stress, even if it's just because the results are done and nothing more can change. Tomorrow is likely to be fairly high stress. Had a nice chat with Laura yesterday. She's been stressed with work obligations, but is cracking along with her lifting program which gives her joy. Michael called Bob yesterday for assistance in picking up and taking home a small chest freezer, just as I had suggested we get them for Christmas. We may end up just calling it part of their wedding gift now as we chose to pay for it as well. Food: 7:50 am Pumpkin spice donut, 102 g blackberries, coffee

01 November 2020

Sun 1 Nov

I find myself getting progressively more nervous as election day approaches rapidly. I know there's nothing further I can do, but I'm scared to hear the results. What will be, will be. Food: 7:45 am Pumpkin spice donut, 101 g blackberries, coffee

31 October 2020

Halloween!

First Halloween with no Trick or Treat in my memory. Alas, Co-Vid. At least there's no candy in the house to tempt us. Heard yesterday that the St Pt school district will go to all e-learning, no classroom between Thanksgiving break and the New Year. They are apparently unable to have enough staff to work the current model and need time to work on it. Food: 8:15 am Morning bun, 101 g blackberries, coffee

30 October 2020

Fri 30 Oct

Tomorrow is Halloween with a full blue moon, forecast for 50° and sunny, but no Trick or Treat. We shall have to go for a hike, and maybe howl at the moon if we can stay up that late. I'll wear my cat mask to celelbrate the holiday. Food: 7:55 am Morning bun, 101 g blackberries, coffee

29 October 2020

Thurs 29 Oct

Should be a chilly walk with Kathy this morning, and we're going to wear masks as she was babysitting Ellie since the nanny was awaiting Co-Vid test results. Food: 7:50 am Morning bun, 101 g blackberries, coffee 11:30 am 3/4 c 1% plain Greek yogurt, 1/3 c pumpkin granola, slice frosted pumpkin bread Exercise: 8:30-10:00 am Walk w/Kathy

28 October 2020

Wed 28 Oct

So strange to think of Halloween coming this weekend with no Trick or Treat. Co-Vid has truly changed the world we live in, with no foreseeable end in sight. Sigh. Had to split my Jane Fonda Complete Workout into two sessions as I was getting winded. Must be getting old. Food: 7:55 am Morning bun, 101 g blackberries, coffee Exercise: 9:10-9:40 am Half of Complete workout 10:40-11:20 am Remaining portion of Workout

27 October 2020

Tues 27 Oct

Hopefully folks will wear masks in Yogalates today. I suggested to Robin yesterday that maybe they could rig up video in one of the reservable private rooms so people could participate in class without concern for masks and without endangering others. She said she's mention it as it had been considered before by management anyway. Food: 7:55 am Morning bun, 101 g blackberries, coffee

26 October 2020

Mon 26 Oct

Last week of October, and our son really did get married! They stopped by on their way up north for a honeymoon week in Ironwood so we got to give them illicit hugs, somewhat safer since they had just tested negative for Co-Vid. Hopefully we aren't infected and contagious to give anything to them! I announced it on Facebook and texted Mick, so our family and friends know, and many congratulations have been coming in. Sarah Wilke was in my Pilates class today! So nice to catch up. Hope to see her again in class in the future. Food: 7:55 am Morning bun, 101 g blackberries, coffee 1:15 pm 3/4 c lowfat organic plain Greek yogurt, 1/3 c pumpkin granola, small slice frosted pumpkin bread Exercise: 10:00-11:00 am Pilates class

25 October 2020

Sun 25 Oct

Nice trip to Madison yesterday, and were able to share a nice sushi lunch with Laura at the picnic table across the street. She then headed out to go hiking with friends and we finished our shopping at Trader Joe's, having done Costco and the bakery before lunch. Now we have a week's worth of breakfast treats, mostly morning buns (that were BOGO) along with other goodies. Food: 7:50 am Chocolate chip danish, 101 g blackberries, coffee

24 October 2020

Sat 24 Oct

One of the last Saturday morning walks to the Farmer's Market, considerably less fun without David's pastries to purchase. Threw some money in the donation box that Dan Mielke had set up on his spot. Just eggs and fish today. Food: 8:40 am Raised glazed donut, 102 g blackberries, coffee

23 October 2020

Fri 23 Oct

Friday again already. Probably going to drive down to Madison tomorrow, but not sure if Laura will be available to see us or not. May have to settle for a Costco/TJs trip. Hopefully yesterday's rain is done and gone. Decided to leave before yoga class today as there was again a woman without a mask, one of the two who had been in Yogalates on Tuesday. Explained my concerns to Robin and to the front desk. Food: 7:50 am Raised glazed donut, 101 g blackberries, coffee 12:30 pm 2 scrambled eggs, 1 sliced mushroom, English muffin w/butter, apple butter Exercise: 9:00-10:00 am Body Pump class

22 October 2020

Thurs 22 Oct

A grey and probably precipitous day outside. Kathy let me know early in the week that she couldn't walk today, so I'll stay in this morning and only go out for Bootstrap this afternoon. Maybe driving down to Madison on Saturday. Laura may have an opportunity to go hiking, so if we see her at all, it would have to be before or after her hiking. Food: 7:55 am Caramel pecan roll, 101 g blackberries, coffee Exercise: 9:25-9:55 am Jessica Smith HIIT walk

21 October 2020

Wed 21 Oct

Hoping that when I go to the gym this morning that the "trend" of a few people not wearing masks does not continue. If it does, I will have to stop going to classes. The gym is already a dangerous enough place without a level of mask noncompliance. Food: 7:50 am Caramel pecan roll, 101 g blackberries, coffee

20 October 2020

Tues 20 Oct

This week is more cold, grey, inside days. Not likely to match my step totals from last week when I got out for several long walks, especially evening walks at Schmeeckle. Not very inviting to go out in the cold and possible precip. Lapping the living room is more like it. I was not at all happy in Yogalates as there were two participants who were not wearing masks and nothing was said to them. It is dangerous enough to be exercising indoors at gyms without people who choose not to wear masks. I said something to Alexis immediately after class and she promised to say something (presumably to the offenders), but if this becomes a trend, I will have to stop going to the gym again. I am not willing to engage in risky behavior with CO-VID so rampant. Food: 7:55 am Caramel pecan roll, 101 g blackberries, coffee 12:30 pm 3 pc pumpkin/squash ravioli w/Autumn Harvest sauce & parmesan cheese Exercise: 9:15-10:00 am Yogalates class

19 October 2020

Mon 19 Oct

Yummy Trig's caramel pecan rolls for breakfast this week. Almost an acceptable substitute for David's good pastries. Temperatures are heading chillier now as we get into the meat of October, but I guess we can't have a mild fall forever. Packers tanked yesterday after a good start; Aaron had two interceptions and just kind of fizzled. Had a surprise opportunity to watch a video oboe/clarinet concert with Anna Petersen and another chamber musician thanks to Joan's Facebook notification. Food: 8:00 am Caramel pecan roll, 101 g blackberries, coffee 12:40 pm 2 scrambled eggs, 1 slice Pepperidge Farm multigrain toast w/butter & apple butter Exercise: 10:00-11:00 am Pilates class

18 October 2020

Sun 18 Oct

Very nice hike on the Ice Age Trail yesterday in spite of snow on the ground. If we hadn't had difficulty finding the trailhead so that the falling snow/rain had stopped when we got there, I don't think I would have convinced Bob to do the hike, but as it was, it was just a bit chilly at first. Poles helped with any slight slipperiness on inclines and it was a great hike. The volunteer at the checkpoint/turnaround was Gail Piotrowski, someone we hadn't seen for many years. She was very enthusiastic about the trail and invited us to join the volunteer group when our schedules allow. Food: 7:55 am Pumpkin coffee cake, 102 g blackberries, coffee 12:35 pm 3 pumpkin pancakes w/butter & syrup, 3 slices Nueske's bacon

17 October 2020

Sat 17 Oct

Love my new NZ merino shirt! Feels thick and warm already. We'll see how it keeps me warm on the hiking trails this morning. Food: 7:15 am 101 g blackberries, coffee

16 October 2020

Fri 16 Oct

Another week bites the dust. My, they go quickly! Tomorrow morning we do the Ice Age Hike, so we need to be up and going early. Today is Coalition meeting, yoga, and laundry. Excitement! Food: 7:40 am Pumpkin coffee cake, 102 g blackberries, coffee 12:10 pm 2 slices Pepperidge Farm multigrain, butter, cheese, pear Exercise: 10:15-11:15 am Yoga class

15 October 2020

Thurs 15 Oct

Didn't seem to get as chilly as predicted last night; still seems to be in the upper 40s. It can take its time cooling down to suit me. Hopefully my walk with Kathy won't be quite as cool as I had anticipated. Food: 7:50 am Small cinnamon roll, 101 g blackberries, coffee

14 October 2020

Wed 14 Oct

Nice walk at Schmeeckle again last night as we enjoy what may be the last of the warm autumn weather. Cooler temps are forecast to be here no later than tomorrow. Not horribly cold, but enough to be noticeable. We have the Ice Age hike on Saturday morning which should be chilly. Food: 7:45 am Small cinnamon roll, 101 g blackberries, coffee 12:15 pm 2 slices Pepperidge Farm light wheat bread, ham salad, pear Exercise: 9:00-10:00 am Body Pump class

13 October 2020

Tues 13 Oct

I chose not to go to class at the gym yesterday because it was pouring rain and high winds, but the app said it was too late to cancel. I called the gym to let them know I wasn't coming, but now I seem to be closed out from booking future classes. Hopefully that's only temporary but I'll ask about it at the desk when I go in today. Found out that it was not an issue with the app "punishing" me for missing class yesterday, but rather an ongoing problem the app is having with playing nicely with iPhones. I have been able to circumvent it in the past, but my fixes were not working today. After Yogalates, I had to again approach the front desk because not all the classes, including the one I wanted, were displaying on my app for the next available date. They were able to get me registered at the front desk. Food: 7:55 am Small cinnamon roll, 102 g blackberries, coffee 12:15 pm Remains of funghi prosciutto pizza, pear Exercise: 9:15-10:00 am Yogalates class

12 October 2020

Mon 12 Oct

Home again (with the typical rise in the scale from a brief vacation), but we had an excellent weekend. We were able to do everything I had hoped for, eat good Wild Tomato pizza and have our dinner at CHOP, hike some beautiful trails in Cave Point/Whitefish Dunes State Park and one of the Land Trust sites (Lautenbach Hills). Got another peck of Honey Crisps and some delicious local pears. Beautiful room at RunAway Lodge @ Valmy with our own full kitchen, balcony overlooking nothing but trees, and a comfortable king bed. Life is good! Food: 7:55 am Pumpkin cinnamon roll, 101 g blackberries, coffee

09 October 2020

Fri 9 Oct

Supposed to be the warmest day today, possibly up to 77°. Should be able to leave for Door Co after lunch. We'll have to see what Bob is able to eat once we're there. I'll have to discuss with him what to bring from home. Food: 7:55 am Honey bear, 101 g blackberries, coffee 12:10 pm Low sugar vanilla Greek yogurt, 1/3 c pumpkin granola, TJs apple cider donut Exercise: 9:00-10:00 am Body Pump class

08 October 2020

Thurs 8 Oct

Weather continues to be gorgeous and Bob is feeling better today, so it looks as though we may not have to cancel the Door Co weekend after all. We have a full kitchen in the room so we don't have to eat out if he doesn't feel like it. I can cancel the reservation at CHOP if necessary and we can pick up things that suit us both. It remains to be seen. It should still be beautiful for hiking at some of the lesser-used trails. Food: 7:50 am Chocolate croissant, 101 g blackberries, coffee 12:10 pm Oikos Zero coffee yogurt, TJ's apple cider donut Exercise: 8:30-10:00 am Walk w/Kathy little Schmeeckle

07 October 2020

Wed 7 Oct

Bob isn't feeling well now, seems somewhat similar to what I had a few weeks ago. So far no fever or breathing effects, so not likely CO-VID at this point, just some stomach discomfort, dizziness on occasion, loss of appetite. Dizziness hit during his shower, so he's laying on the couch now. Forgot to put on my Fitbit before going to the gym, so I need to play catch-up. Oh, well. Food: 7:50 am Chocolate caramel pinwheel, 101 g blackberries, coffee Exercise: 9:00-9:50 am Body Pump class

06 October 2020

Tues 6 Oct

Decided to change from Yoga Flow to Yogilates, even though I prefer the time slot of the former. I'm still a Pilates gal at heart, so I prefer more emphasis on that discipline. Neither class is a formal Les Mills format, so she can do whatever she pleases as an instructor. I'm not guaranteed that Yogalates will be that much more Pilates-focused, but I'll go with it. It's also a less well-attended class so less people is better. Food: 7:55 am Almond danish, 102 g blackberries, coffee 12:45 pm 3/4 c plain Greek yogurt, 1/3 c pumpkin granola, TJs apple cider donut 2:15 pm 1 maple caramel 3:30 pm 30 g maple sea salt kettle corn 6:00 pm 2 scrambled eggs, English muffin w/butter & apple butter, small Roma tomato Exercise: 9:15-10:00 am Yogalates class 4:50-5:50 pm Walk at Schmeeckle

05 October 2020

Mon 5 Oct

Nice trip to Madison yesterday. Were able to have lunch with Laura at the picnic table. Leone called while we were there to beg off from a birthday celebration, but was able to speak to Laura a little. She is going to give Laura her very lightly used sewing machine, and Laura is delighted since she was thinking of getting one. Had rather too successful shopping trips at Trader Joe's and Costco. Food: 7:50 am Apricot danish, 101 g blackberries, coffee 12:50 pm 3/4 c plain Greek yogurt, 1/3 c pumpkin granola, pumpkin waffle w/butter, Honey Crisp apple Exercise: 10:00-11:00 am Pilates class

04 October 2020

Sun 4 Oct

Cool morning, heading down to Madison after watching church, hopefully around 8:30ish. Like to be down to Madison by 12:30. Remembered to call ahead to TJ's to have them set aside some pumpkin spice coffee for me so it should be a for-sure. Wearing one of my new Costco merino tops today; very comfy. Food: 7:55 am Pumpkin danish, 102 g blackberries, coffee

03 October 2020

Sat 3 Oct

Nice walk to the market to restock on good David's pastries. Got fish, eggs, and Cole's homemade croutons to make stuffing. Temperatures were pleasant, though cool. Got a huge bunch of leeks for $2 again. Will use some in the stuffing and will try the chicken with leeks recipe I found in a magazine in the bathroom. Food: 8:45 am Cheese danish, 102 g blackberries, coffee 1:15 pm Oikos coffee yogurt, 1/3 c pumpkin granola Exercise: 7:30-8:30 am Walk to Farmer's Market

02 October 2020

Fri 2 Oct

Patty Phillip is 65 today; Happy Birthday, Patty! Didn't seem to get quite as cold last night as predicted, though still pretty chilly. Food: 7:45 am Pumpkin cake donut, 101 g blackberries, coffee 12:55 pm 2 scrambled eggs, slice honey wheat toast w/butter & apple butter, med apple w/cinnamon sugar Exercise: 9:00-10:00 am Body Pump class 10:15-11:15 am Yoga class

01 October 2020

Thurs 1 Oct

October already! 2020 may be bereft of many of its landmark events, but the time moves along just as surely. Pretty scary with winter and moving indoors in the immediate future and CO-VID spiking dramatically in Wisconsin. They should probably shut everything down again, but I'm pretty sure they won't. Today will be a most busy day, walking with Kathy, directly to a hair appointment, home with barely enough time for lunch before an afternoon at Bootstrap. I pray Bootstrap isn't too busy so Kathy decides to walk. It will only get worse if she isn't on shift to help. Food: 8:00 am Chocolate knot, 101 g blackberries, coffee 12:35 pm Steel cut oats, 1/2 scoop vanilla protein powder, 1 tbl apple butter, soy milk, peach

30 September 2020

Wed 30 Sept

Had a weird dystopian dream about people being "re-engineered" to not require food or water (or going to the bathroom), just taking a small daily pill that contained all the needed nutrients to run the body without waste. It had been developed to eliminate hunger and was distributed first to all the underfed populations, but then was accepted by everyone. No more obesity, considerably less disease. No restaurants, grocery stores, farmers, cooks. Weird. Food: 7:55 am Chocolate knot, 102 g blackberries, coffee 12:55 pm Oikos Coffee Triple Zero, 1/3 c pumpkin spice granola, slice honey wheat bread, butter, apple butter Exercise: 9:35-10:05 am Jessica Smith Belly, Buns, & Thighs DVD 11:20-11:35 am Jessica Smith Fast Fat Burning DVD

29 September 2020

Tues 29 Sept

Weather is cooling down this week, getting used to closing the windows, at least downstairs, and supplementing with the fireplace at times. Nice to have that option rather than turning on the house heat. Food: 7:55 am Chocolate knot, 102 g blackberries, coffee 12:30 pm Leek & potato soup, 34 g pumpkin bread, peach 6:55 pm Pasty, 3/4 c roasted Brussels sprouts, 1 c applesauce Exercise: 10:15-11:15 am Yoga Flow class

28 September 2020

Mon 28 Sept

Heading into a chilly week as October rolls around soon. Didn't get into my Pilates class this morning, but will try to get into next week's as the new app states that signup starts at 10 am today. I was able to get Yoga Flow with Alexis tomorrow and Pump/Yoga on Friday this week. Otherwise, I'll have to improvise some exercise on my own in addition to walking. Hello, Jessica Smith and Jane Fonda. Food: 7:50 am Pumpkin cheese turnover, 102 g blackberries, coffee 1:05 pm Slice Swedish honey wheat bread, Jif, peach, 8 oz apple cider, 1 Babybel Light

27 September 2020

Sun 27 Sept

Had a wonderful week in Grand Marais. Despite some worrying, our cabin reservation was waiting for us (even without recent confirmation). The cabin was clean and cozy and very adequate to our needs. It was chilly on Thursday, so we had a fire in the Franklin fireplace that made the interior almost too toasty. We had a large picture window to the yard behind our cabin that was not really open to any other people except through back or side windows. We were treated to a young black bear that wandered in from the woods and climbed a crabapple tree behind cabin 5 to get his snacks. He came back so often (three times) that I named him Buddy. We also had visits from several grouse, though not at the same time as Buddy. The color was absolutely beautiful, at peak, and second only to the amazing first year (but not far behind)! We had beautiful sunshine on Monday, Tuesday, and part of Wednesday to really bring out the color, and even in the cloudiness the rest of the time, the brilliant colors shone through. Somewhat unusually, the yellows of the birches were also close to peak along with the brilliant maples. We did a long hike on Moose Mountain/Mystery Mountain along a newly-improved mountain bike trail on Tuesday, Lake Agnes on Wednesday, Carlton Peak on Thursday, and Kadunce River on Friday. Good hiking, some amazing views, and wonderful mild weather. It was actually a bit warm on Tuesday and Wednesday. We enjoyed two meals and last-day takeaway from the Coho Cafe (lox and bagel sandwiches and good pizza), delicious fish and chips from the fish market, adequate burgers from My Sister's Place takeaway. We had one evening of the leek and potato soup I had brought from home. It was nice to have a comfortable place to eat in the cabin so we didn't have to sit outside if it was too cool toward the end of the week. We did eat at the Gunflint cafe-on-the-street on Monday night. Food: 8:00 am Caramel roll, 102 g blackberries, coffee

21 September 2020

Mon 21 Sept

The day is here! We are actually getting ready to go, and I hope that they are waiting for us in Grand Marais. I'm a little unsettled for not having received any confirmation email, but I seem to remember that Nelson's isn't real internet-savvy. I pray it's not a bad sign. Food: 7:35 am Almond croissant, 102 g blackberries, coffee

20 September 2020

Sun 20 Sept

Just saw a picture of the brilliant foliage from the really good year we first went up to the North Shore. Hoping for even a shadow of that glory this year. Delighted that my scale dipped back down again below 150 today. I was a little afraid that once it crested, it would keep rising now that I'm eating meals again. Packers won! Good game! Food: 8:20 am Chocolate nut danish, 101 g blackberries, coffee 12:35 pm 2 scrambled eggs, peach 5:30 pm Rocky's sausage/mushroom slice

19 September 2020

Sat 19 Sept

Remembering five years ago right after my retirement party, we went up for a week at the North Shore and stayed in a cabin at the Gunflint. That's where we fell in love with the gas fireplace. Got lots of good pastries and a loaf of bread from David to take up north. Good cinnamon rolls w/fruit pieces for this morning. Scale is creeping back over 150 again, so need to be careful. We had Culver's sundaes last night, which may have been a factor. Food: 8:50 am Cinnamon roll, 101 g blackberries, coffee

18 September 2020

Fri 18 Sept

Five years ago I retired. Must have been two leap years in between because the same date fell on a Friday again. Bob was amazed to learn it had been five years already. Feels good. Food: 7:50 am Honey bear, 101 g blackberries, coffee 2:45 pm 1/2 c 2% cottage cheese, TJs apple cider donut, peach Exercise: 10:15-11:15 am Yoga class

17 September 2020

Thurs 17 Sept

Cautiously feeling better this morning, excited but trying not to get too much so. Also realize that my arm is feeling better from the fall in February, seven months later. It's probably still not back to baseline, but much closer. Thank you, Lord! Food: 7:50 am Chocolate croissant, 101 g blackberries, coffee

16 September 2020

Wed 16 Sept

Feel like I'm progressively improving, but slowly. Scale has remained below 150 for three days running now. Wish it could stay there even when I am able to eat more normally. Did breakfast and a fairly substantial lunch of french toast and sliced banana in milk yesterday, but wasn't hungry for dinner. Managed a glass of chocolate milk and about 2/3 of the leftover slice of foccacia. Food: 7:50 am Almond croissant, 101 g blackberries, coffee

15 September 2020

Tues 15 Sept

Somewhat nervous to say it, but feeling a bit better this morning. Slept well, stomach feeling pretty good. If I get another good poop this morning, should be feeling pretty normal. Weight just now crept under 150, but hope that doesn't mean I'm losing muscle mass from not doing Pump. Will do some strength training here at home today to keep up. Food: 7:45 am Apricot danish, 102 g blackberries, coffee 12:25 pm Slice Innkeeper's bread, large egg, 1/4 c skim milk, butter, sm banana, 1/2 c soy milk

14 September 2020

Mon 14 Sept

Feeling a little "meh" this morning, need to have a good poop to clear things out. Still haven't really decided whether I'm going to Pilates class at 10 today. Will have to see how the morning progresses. I think I'm already feeling a bit better as I sit. Food: 7:50 am Caramel chocolate nut danish, 102 g blackberries, coffee 5:40 pm 2 oz chicken breast, 1/3 c brown rice w/mushrooms & almonds, small tomato w/fresh mozz & basil Exercise: 9:30-10:00 am Jessica Smith Dance Walk DVD

13 September 2020

Sun 13 Sept

Hoping not to jinx myself, I'm feeling a bit more like myself this morning. I felt the digestion of supper last night, but right after eating and not too uncomfortably. No problems in the night and I slept well. Will keep on keeping on and see how it goes. Packers won! Food: 8:20 am Almond danish, 101 g blackberries, coffee 12:15 pm 1/2 c 2% cottage cheese, TJs apple cider donut, 100g cherry tomatoes 5:55 pm Rocky's sausage mushroom slice

12 September 2020

Sat 12 Sept

Only ate very minimally yesterday (102 g blackberries, 1/2 c cottage cheese, and a bowl of cereal all day), but I feel much better today for it. I hope to be able to eat breakfast today after we get some fresh pastries at the Farmer's Market. It's raining, so we'll likely drive to the market. We'll probably have to drive to Bukolt also for the pre-show for Walk for Hope, though I had really hoped to walk there and back as our "virtual walk". We will try walking to Bukolt even with raincoats and umbrellas. I'm chancing a whole lunch today. Let's hope it takes. Food: 8:00 am Cherry danish, 101 g blackberries, coffee 12:20 pm Oikos Zero coffee yogurt, 31 g Wheat Thins, peach Exercise: 9:00-10:30 am Walk for Hope to Bukolt loop

11 September 2020

Fri 11 Sept

My stomach did not like having to digest a normal supper last night. I woke up in the middle of the night to the awareness of the digestive processes taking place less than comfortably. I did manage to have a BM while getting ready this morning which has improved my well-being, but I'm still far from normal. Glad I canceled my gym classes for today; no doubt I wouldn't have been going. Not sure how much I'll eat today. Food: 9:00 am 102 g blackberries, sips of coffee

10 September 2020

Thurs 10 Sept

Walking with Kathy this morning, on time and hopefully not as fast as last week. Also hoping my stomach is sufficiently recovered to enjoy the birthday dinner this evening with Michael & Taylor that they will cook here. Not sure if I'm supposed to bake the cake, so I will try to do one if I can. Food: 7:45 am Chocolate croissant, 102 g blackberries, coffee

09 September 2020

Wed 9 Sept

Taking yet another day off from the gym to more fully recuperate. I felt good in the morning yesterday and, although I needed a noon nap, okay in the afternoon. My stomach was fine, but come supper time, I just didn't feel like eating. Bob and I shared one of the chocolate raspberry tarts from Michael & Taylor, and that was enough for me. Hoping today brings me closer to normalcy. Food: 7:55 am Chocolate nut danish, 101 g blackberries, coffee 12:30 pm 2 scrambled eggs, 1 sauteed sliced mushroom, 1 slice Innkeeper's toast w/butter, large peach Exercise: 9:15-9:45 am Jessica Smith Stride N Strength

08 September 2020

Tues 8 Sept

New refrigerator comes this afternoon. Bob has been so good with getting everything ready. I really was feeling punk yesterday and wasn't much help. I'm hopeful this morning that I feel more normal, but I haven't put anything in my stomach yet so we'll see. Food: 8:05 am Apricot danish, 101 g blackberries, coffee

07 September 2020

Mon 7 Sept

Stomach continues to be less than comfortable, with upper GI gas bothering me in the night particularly. I hope it goes away soon. It was encouraging yesterday that Michael said some stomach issues seem to be going around, though it seems that with masks and other precautions, things shouldn't really be "going around" much anymore. I'm still tired physically too, though I didn't feel there was anything to be gained by sleeping in much this morning. Food: 8:05 am Almond danish, 101 g blackberries, coffee

06 September 2020

Sun 6 Sept

Today would have been MN State Fair day in a normal world. First miss in my memory. It will be nice to have a little visit from Kurt & Barb today to get a little piece of the tradition. I feel like I should have found turkey legs for the grill or maybe make chocolate chip cookies and put them in the Sweet Martha bucket today. Sigh. Food: 7:50 am Cherry danish, 102 g blackberries, coffee

05 September 2020

Sat 5 Sept

David had sent me a Facebook message saying that my danish were on him today, but Emma was working and didn't appear to know anything about it. I wasn't comfortable bringing it up, so we just paid normally. He also had quiches and foccacia, both of which we bought. He did his sticky caramel rolls again which are really amazing, but no eclairs. Food: 8:40 am Caramel roll, 101 g blackberries, coffee

04 September 2020

Fri 4 Sept

Happy Birthday to me! I got a fun card from Bob and birthday texts from Michael and Taylor already, though M&T aren't comfortable joining us at Father Fat's to eat in a public place. But I got a surprise lunch date at Hilltop with Bill & Paddy today. And M&T offered to cook a dinner for us next week sometime. Hopefully that won't fade into nothingness like Michael's planned birthday dinner did. Food: 7:55 am TJ's apple cider donut, 102 g blackberries, coffee

03 September 2020

Thurs 3 Sept

Overslept just a tad so have a request in to Kathy to delay til 8:45. Just would prefer not to rush through breakfast too much. She has agreed. Food: 8:05 am Apricot danish, 101 g blackberries, coffee

02 September 2020

Wed 2 Sept

Had fun with the first-of-the-month new critters on Animal Crossing yesterday. I always seem to play longer near the beginning of the month while I discover the new things. Robin taught the Yogilates class yesterday so it was nice since I had not been able to get into her Pilates class on Monday. Today looks to be sunny and comfortably cool. Food: 7:45 am Honey bear, 101 g blackberries, coffee 1:25 pm 1/2 c 2% cottage cheese w/chives, cranberry orange muffin, organic pear, 1/2 English cucumber

01 September 2020

Tues 1 Sept

I'm officially on Medicare as of today! Hopefully that will allow me better access to medical care without worry of huge bills. Certainly the bills for the insurance itself, including the supplement are about 1/3 of my previous insurance costs, and there shouldn't be huge deductibles to pay if I really need to see a doctor. Food: 8:00 am Chocolate croissant, 101 g blackberries, coffee

31 August 2020

Mon 31 Aug

Grey day, a little rain in the night. The Pilates class is full, but I'll try to get in anyway. She said only one class has ever been so full she had to turn someone away. Hoping for luck. Food: 8:00 am Chocolate nut danish, 101 g blackberries, coffee

30 August 2020

Sun 30 Aug

Had a very nice trip to Madison yesterday even though Laura was too busy with school prep to spend any time with us. We did lunch at La Brioche, shopped TJs, Costco, and Woodmans, did a short 1-mile nature hike at Governor Nelson State Park, and topped off with good grilled cheese sandwiches and beer at Lone Girl Brewery in Waunakee. We had a very perky waiter named Alan who made dinner fun. Lovely cool sleeping weather dipping into the low 50s. I'm even wearing long sleeves and long leggings today! Food: 8:20 am Cherry danish, 101 g blackberries, coffee 1:05 pm 1/2 c 2% cottage cheese w/chives, 8 cherry tomatoes, brioche roll, AHA water Exercise: 10:45-11:30 am Texas Ave/Jefferson loop

29 August 2020

Sat 29 Aug

Cooler this morning, much appreciated. Let's hope it holds all day. Lovely walk to Farmer's Market, and Emma was selling pastries today. Got some fresh corn and eggs as well. 8:25 am Mixed berry danish, 101 g blackberries, 1/2 local cantaloupe, coffee

28 August 2020

Fri 28 Aug

Having a very much "I don' wanna!" day with regards to the gym. Weather is cooperating by bringing in a thunderstorm, so I'll probably give in. Matter of fact, I think I'll take the bull by the horns and cancel my classes on the app for today. There! I canceled Body Pump but still thinking about Yoga at 10:15. Giving myself a chance to change my mind for a little while yet. Didn't help a gray, rainy day that my soy milk has gone lumpy. Couldn't face takig a bite of that disgusting mess, so I was wasteful and threw it out and made another bowl with soy milk from a new container. I dislike wasting food, but I just couldn't make myself eat that curdled mess. Food: 8:00 am 1 c Quaker Oat Squares, 1/2 c soy milk, 102 g blackberries, coffee

27 August 2020

Thurs 27 Aug

August wanes, but the heat is hanging on by its fingernails. Lots of good veg from the CSA yesterday as well as a couple of veggie pizzas. Been trying to make cool suppers when possible, but yesterday grilled ribs to go with corn from the CSA. Food: 7:45 am Almond danish, 101 g blackberries, coffee 12:15 pm 1/2 c 2% cottage cheese w/chives, 8 cherry tomatoes Exercise: 8:50-10:15 am Walk w Kathy Bukolt loop 10:45-11:05 am Walk to St Mike's 11:50-12:10 pm Walk home

26 August 2020

Wed 26 Aug

Made it through the day yesterday without turning on the A/C. Can feel the humidity this morning, but the temperature isn't bad. Gotta keep remembering that we'll miss the warmth when it's winter cold. I always think toward the end of winter how nice it will be to be able to walk outside in the same clothes I'm wearing without jackets, hats, mittens, etc. Gotta enjoy that now. Got through Body Pump in the hot sun by promising myself I didn't have to stay for Yoga today. It was a new release and a bit tough. Food: 7:50 am Apricot danish, 101 g blackberries, coffee 12:15 pm 8 oz chocolate milk, cherry tomatoes, 2 hard boiled eggs Exercise: 9:00-10:00 am Body Pump class

25 August 2020

Tues 25 Aug

Got a little much-needed rain in the night, not sure how much but my herbs look happier. I hope Alexis decides to do Yogilates indoors instead of on wet grass, but I'm not holding my breath. Food: 7:45 am Chocolate nut pinwheel, 101 g blackberries, coffee

24 August 2020

Mon 24 Aug

Remembered this time to go get my fasting labs drawn. Quick in and out. Going to be another hot day today, with heat index warnings in the southern part of the state. No one can complain that this summer hasn't deliviered enough warm weather. I am looking forward to fall. Food: 7:50 am Cherry danish, 101 g blackberries, coffee

23 August 2020

Sun 23 Aug

Trying one of David's new creations today: sticky buns on steroids. A nice light dough so the size isn't as intimidating as it might be. No plans for this Sunday. Food: 8:20 am Extra large sticky bun, 101 g blackberries, coffee

22 August 2020

Sat 22 Aug

A little rain in the night and humidity in the air, albeit cooler, this morning for our walk to the Farmer's Market. Fresh pastries, ground cherries and a couple of lovely heirloom tomatoes along with some steps to start the day. Food: 8:20 am Berry danish, 102 g blackberries, coffee

21 August 2020

Fri 14 Aug

Bootstrap was a mess yesterday afternoon with a very angry Thursday worker, Patti, who lambasted me for the changes as if everything was all my fault. I was quite upset for a while but Bob and I took a nice back of Schmeeckle walk after he got home and then got spring rolls and steamed buns and a honeydew bubble tea and all was right with the world. Food: 7:40 am 1 c Quaker Oat Squares, 1/2 c soy milk, 102 g blackberries, coffee 1:35 pm 2 veggie spring rolls w/sweet sour sauce, most of a steamed pork bun Exercise: 10:15-11:15 am Yoga class

20 August 2020

Thurs 20 Aug

Bob suggested we get food out tonight, so we're planning a Schmeeckle hike followed by take-out spring rolls and steamed buns. Something to look forward to after my first Thurs afternoon Bootstrap shift. Going to take awhile to get used to going on Thursdays; I hope I don't forget! Food: 7:55 am Caramel chocolate nut pinwheel, 101 g blackberries, coffee

19 August 2020

Wed 19 Aug

My first Wednesday afternoon without Bootstrap as we're switching to Thursdays this week. It will feel strange. I will try to do both Body Pump and Alexis' Yoga today if I have sufficient energy. It's cooler today, so that may help. Food: 7:50 am Almond danish, 102 g blackberries, coffee 1:15 pm 2 scrambled eggs, 1 Light Laughing Cow wedge, 2 tbl salsa, large peach Exercise: 9:00-10:00 am Body Pump class 10:15-11:15 am Yoga class

18 August 2020

Tues 18 Aug

Michael was here when I came down to breakfast and we all had a nice visit for a bit. He has become such a thoughtful, gentle man. I'm very proud of him. Food: 8:00 am Maple cheese danish, 101 g blackberries, coffee

17 August 2020

Mon 17 Aug

Three weeks til we get the new refrigerator, less than that before I turn 65. Looks like it will be a lovely week weather-wise, quite a bit of sunshine and temps in the 70s. Time is just flying by so quickly! Food: 7:50 am Apricot danish, 101 g blackberries, coffee

16 August 2020

Sun 16 Aug

Had a really lovely trip to Madison yesterday, getting in our Costco/Woodman's errands first, lunching with Laura at the picnic table across the street in the school property, quiet afternoon time to do Duo while Bob helped Laura replace her basement handrail and then napped, found Basil Mint cider at East Side Woodman's, shared cider and sushi with Laura and Kat at the picnic table for dinner, then a quiet drive home. Food: 7:55 am Cherry danish, 102 g blackberries, coffee 11:40 am 1/2 c 2% cottage cheese w/chives, large peach

15 August 2020

Sat 15 Aug

Got a little much-needed rain in the night, and it's still quite damp out, though cooler. Got pastries, fish, and ground cherries at the Farmer's Market. It's considerably less crowded and a better selection of pastries when we go earlier. We were able to leave the house around 7:30 today. Food: 8:25 am Raspberry danish, 78 g blackberries, coffee

14 August 2020

Fri 14 Aug

Got a fresh hair cut/color, had an afternoon walk with Kathy yesterday, Bob was satisfied with leftovers for dinner. Nice afternoon. Today appears to be nice weather again so should be able to hang out laundry after gym. Doing Body Pump outdoors in the sunshine drains me easily twice as much as it usually does indoors. I managed to recover enough to do Yoga, but I'm wiped. Food: 7:50 am 1 c Quaker Oat Squares, 1/2 c soy milk, 80 g blackberries, coffee Exercise: 9:00-9:55 am Body Pump class 10:15-11:10 am Yoga class

13 August 2020

Thurs 13 Aug

I saw one meteor in the Perseid shower last night, about 11:45 pm, when I got up to use the bathroom. It looked just like the shooting stars on Animal Crossing but I didn't have to press A. It wasn't a comfortable place to sit and watch for more and I wanted to get back to bed, but I should have found a better viewing place for a while because I really didn't sleep very well the rest of the night. Decadent carrot cake muffins for breakfast today. And yesterday we got an unexpected treat of a $12 dinner special at Michele's for take-out. I had grilled pork chops and Bob had broasted chicken and we both have leftovers. Not sure whether Kathy and I will walk this morning. She injured her back yesterday in Sheboygan and will touch base this morning. Food: 7:50 am Carrot cake muffin, 101 g blackberries, coffee

12 August 2020

Wed 12 Aug

Got up to Rib to hike yesterday for the first time in a while (due to this summer's heat). Had a nice dinner at the Dane on the patio. Another nice day in store today. Did not have the oomph to do Yoga today after Body Pump in the sun. Food: 7:55 am Honey bear, pastry, 102 g blackberries, coffee Exercise: 9:00-10:00 am Body Pump

11 August 2020

Tues 11 Aug

Ten degrees cooler this morning than the same time yesterday, and less humidity to boot! Talked to Melissa DeBot yesterday and determined that, starting next week, I will be switching my Bootstrap afternoon to Thursday, continuing to work with Kathy. We will still do Wed this week, which is good because I get my hair cut on Thursday this week. I should be able to take the Wed yoga class starting next week since I don't have anything in the afternoon now to be rushed. It will be a little weird to do Bootstrap on a different day after five years of Wed afternoon. Food: 7:50 am Black currant jelly danish, 102 g blackberries, coffee 12:20 pm 1/2 c 2% cottage cheese w/chives, med banana Exercise: 9:15-10:00 am Yogilates class

10 August 2020

Mon 10 Aug

Wow, it's warm this morning. You can feel the humidity even with the A/C on. The outside temperature was 73 when I got up at the normal time, higher than it's been all summer by a few degrees. We were supposed to get storms in the night, but they apparently passed by us. It's possible we have another hot streak coming this week. Food: 7:50 am Apricot danish, 102 g blackberries, coffee Exercise: 10:00-11:00 am Pilates class

09 August 2020

Sun 9 Aug

Gonna be a hotter one today again. So it goes. Gotta remember to register us for the Walk for Hope. Went out for a back-of-Schmeeckle walk before noon so we could take advantage of the lesser heat, though the humidity is nasty. Food: 7:45 am Cherry danish, 102 g blackberries, coffee 12:40 pm 1/2 c 2% cottage cheese w/chives, 1 c cucumber Exercise: 10:40-11:40 am Walk behind Schmeeckle

08 August 2020

Sat 8 Aug

Gloomy cloudy day, but warm. Will head out soon to get pastries at the Market while it's hopefully less crowded. David was there today, training his wife in the selling. Food: 8:20 am Berry danish, 103 g blackberries, coffee Exercise: 7:20-8:20 am Walk to Farmer's Market

07 August 2020

Fri 7 Aug

Kind of groggy this morning, maybe due to weather, maybe going out with Heather yesterday evening (though I only drank one pint of Scotch ale and was home before 8 pm). Had a really nice visit sitting on the patio at Hilltop. Food: 7:50 am Cherry danish, 102 g blackberries, coffee 1:25 pm 41 g turkey breast, slice provolone, butter lettuce, slice 100% whole wheat bread, AHA water Exercise: 9:00-9:55 am Body Pump class 10:00-11:00 am Yoga class

06 August 2020

Thurs 6 Aug

Kathy said she is dealing with exhaustion and ear pain this week, so no walk til next week with my friend. Will try to motivate to get out on my own this morning after sufficient time to relax. We worked our butts off at Bootstrap yesterday afternoon, so a little less pressure to move is welcome. Looking forward to seeing Heather for dinner this evening on the patio at PJs. Hope it works out. Food: 7:50 am Caramel chocolate danish, 101 g blackberries, coffee

05 August 2020

Wed 5 Aug

Again the week is flying by. As soon as I can finish the Harley Merlin book due tomorrow, I need to start reading those insurance documents from Ben so I can make a decision and get that underway. Starting to feel pressure to get things done. Food: 7:50 am Chocolate croissant, 102 g blackberries, coffee 12:15 pm 2 scrambled eggs, English muffin w/butter & peach jam

04 August 2020

Tues 4 Aug

One more month to be a pre-senior citizen. Much as I've been looking forward to Medicare, it seems somewhat inconceivable that I'll be 65. That was always the threshhold to "old" when I was growing up. I remember making a sign for my mom's 65th saying something like "Welcome to being a senior citizen!" Not sure how I'll feel about that in a month when it's me. Food: 7:45 am Apricot danish, 102 g blackberries, coffee

03 August 2020

Mon 3 Aug

I'll be on Medicare in less than a month now. Card is already in my wallet. Gotta finish the paperwork and decision-making for the Supplement plan and apply at the beginning of September for SeniorCare. Received notice that we will get about $550/month toward Bob's health care premium at least til December, so the Security bill should plummet. Had a great spontaneous weekend in Door County. Liked the Feathered Star B&B very much. Room was spacious, comfortable, well-furnished with real antiques. Breakfast was a homemade coffee cake and very nice fruit salad, juice and coffee, with cereal available. Had great weather, picked beautiful cherries at Hy-Line, delicious dinner at CHOP on Saturday and lunch at The Cookery on Sunday, nice small hikes at Peninsula both days. Food: 7:50 am Almond danish, 103 g blackberries, coffee 2:10 pm 2 scrambled eggs, Costco energy bar Exercise: 10:00-11:00 am Pilates class

01 August 2020

Sat 1 Aug

Taking a little mini-trip to Door County today to pick ripe cherries, eat at CHOP, and stay at a new-to-us B&B outside of Egg Harbor called the Feathered Star. We have passed it on the road many times but never checked it out. Their prices are reasonable so it may become a new resource. But first, walk to the Farmer's Market for pastries. It's nice that we can do Mass at our convenience by watching Fr. Tom online so we can just celebrate when we get home tomorrow. Plenty of good pastries now, fresh eggs, brats, and fish. We go to the home of fresh veg and bring home proteins and carbs. But in our favor, we have more fresh veg than we can keep up with from our CSA. Food: 8:40 am Pear danish, 102 g blackberries, coffee

31 July 2020

Fri 31 Jul

Still getting used to trying to find the Blogger interface since they changed things. Makes me have to think at the very beginning of the morning! The weather is continuing beautiful. I believe I've talked Bob into a Door County cherry picking trip on Saturday just for the day. Should be another beautiful day. Food: 7:55 am 1 c Quaker Oat Squares, 1/2 c soy milk, 101 g blackberries, coffee

30 July 2020

Thurs 30 Jul

Happy Birthday, Mom! 102 today! Bet you're glad you didn't live to endure the lockdowns and other mania of Corona virus. I wouldn't have been allowed to visit you in the living situation, you would have hated all the masks, but you would have loved all the Lysol and hand-washing! Food: 8:00 am Chocolate croissant, 103 g blackberries, coffee 1:10 pm 2 veggie spring rolls, English muffin w/butter & peach jam Exercise: 8:30-10:05 am Walk w/Kathy Mead loop

29 July 2020

Wed 29 Jul

Slept reasonably well except for one hour of restlessness between 2-3 am. Should probably have taken ibuprofen, and then my muscles wouldn't have had this residual soreness this morning. Hopefully Body Pump won't be too uncomfortable. Food: 7:55 am Almond croissant, 102 g blackberries, coffee 12:19 on Crab veggie frittata, sm peach, coffee cake muffin 6:40 pm Steamed pork bun, veggie spring rolls, honeydew bubble tea Exercise: 9:00-9:55 am Body Pump class 5:40-6:20 pm Schmeeckle lake loop w/extension

28 July 2020

Tues 28 Jul

Wow, it's nice to have relief from high heat and humidity! I slept so much better last night! I feel more like myself again. Back to the gym today for Yogilates and Body Flow. Hopefully my somewhat wonky right knee will last. Good thing I looked at the calendar, I would have gone to Yogilates and forgotten the ZOOM meeting I set up with the agent regarding Medicare supplement. I canceled both classes as I doubt I'd be done and able to get to the gym in time for Flow. Food: 7:45 am Gibassier, 102 g blackberries, coffee

27 July 2020

Mon 27 Jul

Oh, dear, a new Blogger interface to get used to. Hopefully I can figure it out. So far, so good. Had a nice drive to Appleton to Costco yesterday so I could stock up on blackberries. We found lots of other things to buy as well, and were able to get some things for Michael and Taylor, too. I bought a chicken croissant sandwich box from the prepared food counter which we ate in the car so we wouldn't have to find a restaurant or drive-thru. Enjoyed a portion of the Simply Folk sing-along streamed on my phone while playing Animal Crossing last night. Food: 7:45 am Honey bear, 102 g blackberries, coffee

26 July 2020

Sun 26 Jul

Slept about 15-20 min late this morning. Woke up in the wee hours with a lot of soreness in my knee so I got up and took ibuprofen. Once it kicked in, guess I slept more deeply again. Hoping to drive to Appleton to Costco today as Aldi had no blackberries at all. I'll go into withdrawal if I have to rely on blueberries instead. Food: 8:15 am Cheese danish, 101 mixed black and blueberries, coffee

25 July 2020

Sat 25 Jul

Had a very nice week up at the North Shore. Felt safer there than in Point. Nearly every business required masks and nearly everyone complied without obvious complaints. Coming through Minocqua was another story altogether. We stopped at Charlie's for ice cream on the drive back and were the only people, staff or customers, with masks. I heard some sotto voce comments and we got some "looks" for wearing our masks. We took our ice cream to the nearby boat landing and parked in the shade where we didn't have to be near the others while eating. It was great to have cooler temperatures for a break in Grand Marais. Bob had to dig around to find the extra quilt for the bed the second night as we had been quite chilly the previous night. I slept with my wool socks on! The days were pretty comfortable in long sleeves/long pants with shorts weather on the last day. Grand Marais had been having a hotter than usual spell as well, so they were also relieved by the cooler weather. We had rain on Tuesday as predicted so we got Northport pasties and ate them in the room in the evening, but the other nights we were able to sit outside on patios. The last day was warmer, especially on the Gunflint Trail where we went for the day, and sitting on the patio outside the lodge was a perfect punctuation to the trip. Food: 8:50 am Cherry danish, 101 g blackberries, coffee 1:15 pm Chobani Less Sugar wild blueberry, caramel croissant 6:05 pm Ramen noodle slaw Exercise: 7:50-8:35 am Walk to Farmer's Market

19 July 2020

Sun 19 Jul

It's finally here! We are leaving for the North Shore for most of the week with Jay & Rose, hiking in some of our favorite places, and time away! Enjoying the last of the two of David's danish we bought for this week, then we'll finish packing up the things we expect to need, and off we go! Food: 8:00 am Prince of Denmark squares danish, 101 g blackberries, coffee

18 July 2020

Sat 18 Jul

David himself was at the Farmer's Market this morning, so it was nice to chat with him. He said his wife is up at the North Shore now with some girlfriends, returning soon. Would be amusing if we ran into her. Could only buy two danish each since we'll get breakfast at Jay & Rose's; today's is a pear and raspberry concoction. Food: 8:45 am Pear/raspberry danish, 101 g blackberries, coffee

17 July 2020

Fri 17 Jul

I think something I ate last night at the Dane didn't agree with me as I felt a little uncomfortable for a bit before falling asleep. I also had some muscle cramping in the night which may or may not have been related, as well as some gas. Hopefully whatever it was has worked its way out of my system by now. Two ZOOM meetings this morning, the Coalition at 8 am and Maria at 9 am to figure out Medicare options. I actually pre-washed the new sheets so they can be put on the bed today having been washed, something I usually never did. Food: 7:40 am Berry scone, 101 g blackberries, coffee 1:25 pm Slice Innkeeper's whole grain, pastrami, slice Provolone, romaine, cucumber Exercise: 12:50-1:20 pm Michigan/Jefferson loop

16 July 2020

Thurs 16 Jul

No walk with Kathy today as she's going to Sheboygan to help Charlie and MJ with Ellie today. I will walk by myself because it's a gorgeous Wisconsin morning, and I'll try to time it to end up at the library to pick up Riviera Gold which is in for my hold. I think it's the latest Russell/Holmes book. Food: 8:00 am Honey bear, 101 g blackberries, coffee

15 July 2020

Wed 15 Jul

My Fitbit had a seizure in the night, beeping steadily and no display at 5 am. I just took it off and set it aside til I got up, then went down and put it on the charger and pushed for a hard restart. Nothing appeared to happen but I left it on the charger. When I came down to breakfast after showering, it has a display again but charge is only at 30% after 45 min or more on the charger. I suspect it may have run completely out of charge, hence the beeps and lack of display in the night. Since I charge it every morning, and yesterday I left it on the charger until after gym by accident, there's no reason the charge should have been low. Charge dissipated again completely during Body Pump, so headed to Target to buy a replacement. I'm now up to a Charge 4. Food: 7:55 am Caramel chocolate pinwheel, 101 g blackberries, coffee 12:20 pm 1/2 c 1% cottage cheese w/chives, berry scone 7:00 pm Rocky's Chicago Super Slice Exercise: 9:00-9:50 am Body Pump class 6:00-6:45 pm Back of Schmeeckle walk

14 July 2020

Tues 14 Jul

Should be rainy today, it's already grey and cloudy. Trying Yogilates class this morning before Body Flow. Last week my back was sore and I skipped both classes, but today should be okay. Need to set up my physical and contact Maria about Medicare supplements. Should freeze some blueberries while they're still fresh, too. Food: 7:50 am Chocolate caramel nut pinwheel, 101 g blackberries, coffee Exercise: 9:00=9:45 am Yogilates class 11:50-12:15 pm Clark/Michigan loop

13 July 2020

Mon 13 Jul

Sure was lovely to have a weekend with somewhat lower temperatures and humidity. We made good use of it by hiking at the Plover River Ice Age Trail on Saturday and at Roche-a-Cri on Sunday. It was great to get out and enjoy the beautiful weather. Bugs were present, but not overly annoying except in a few spots. It was high summer at its nicest. One more week before we get to go up to the North Shore and enjoy lots of hiking. Temps up there appear to be highs in the upper 60s/low 70s, just about perfect for long hikes. Let's hope they stay that way for us. Food: 8:00 am Cherry danish, 101 g blackberries, coffee 11:30 am 1/2 c 1% cottage cheese w/chives, slice Innkeeper's toast w/butter & peach jam, blueberries Exercise: 10:00-11:00 am Pilates class

12 July 2020

Sun 12 Jul

My Lord, what a morning! The temperatures are down a bit, as is the humidity. I could get my wedding ring all the way off my finger and the other ring halfway down comfortably. My scale was down a bit, removing the effects of the humidity. Wow! Food: 8:10 am Chocolate croissant, 101 g blackberries, coffee 12:25 pm 2 scrambled eggs w/garlic scape, peach Exercise: 11:55-12:20 pm Ellis St loop

11 July 2020

Sat 11 Jul

Approaching mid-July already, more than halfway through 2020. Most people will be glad to see the backside of this year with its CO-VID, race riots, the election. Unfortunately, the passage of time in and of itself doesn't get rid of unpleasantness. We have to work at that. Food: 8:50 am Apricot danish, 101 g blackberries, coffee Exercise: 7:55-8:40 am Walk to Farmer's Market

10 July 2020

Fri 10 Jul

Computer was weird this morning, the unit hot and had to turn it off and on to get it to come up. Hope there aren't problems. Weather still hot for an unconscionably long time now. Used the herbal rub on my lower back this morning and it seems to be helpful. Made it through Body Pump and Yoga, though my back was considering skipping again today. Feel better for the effort. It is a gorgeous day today! Temperatures are milder and it feels wonderful! Food: 8:00 am Morning bun, 101 g blackberries, coffee 2:10 pm Slice Innkeeper's whole grain w/butter, pastrami, provolone, romaine, peach 3:30 pm Dove ice cream bar 6:35 pm Pan-fried walleye, glazed baby carrots, baked potato w/butter & sour cream, dinner roll Exercise: 9:00-9:50 am Body Pump class 10:00-11:00 am Yoga class 5:10-5:55 pm Back of Schmeeckle walk

09 July 2020

Thurs 9 Jul

Was extremely pleased to see Marilyn in a drop-in visit at Bootstrap yesterday afternoon. Concerned about Kathy who didn't come because she wasn't feeling well, enough that she thought she might try to get tested for CO-VID. If she tests positive, I should probably get tested as well even though I last saw her a full week before. I believe she's the first person I know with whom I've had direct contact who has been even worried. Food: 7:45 am Honey bear pastry, 101 g blackberries, coffee 10:15 am 30 raspberries 12:10 pm Slice Innkeeper's whole grain bread, 1 tbl Jif, 1 tbl homemade strawberry jam, peach 7 cherries Exercise: 8:30-10:10 am Walk w/Kathy Bukolt loop

08 July 2020

Wed 8 Jul

Took ibuprofen twice last night and my back feels pretty normal this morning, thank the Lord. Should be able to return to normal routine today. Another hot, humid day in the offing, with Bootstrap this afternoon. Food: 7:50 am Chocolate caramel pinwheel, 101 g blackberries, coffee 12:10 pm 2 hard boiled eggs, peach 6 cherries Exercise: 9:00-9:55 am Body Pump class

07 July 2020

Tues 7 Jul

Trying a new class at the gym today, first day of Yogilates. I don't believe I've had the instructor, Karen, before. Hopefully I'll like it. It's back-to-back with Body Flow, so I'll be tired at the end even though neither class is cardio. Food: 7:55 am Apricot danish, 101 g blackberries, coffee 1:05 pm 1/2 c 1% cottage cheese, 2 sm plums, 9 cherries, 32 g Wheat Thins Exercise: 9:20-11:05 am Walk to and around Schmeeckle lake loop

06 July 2020

Mon 6 Jul

Had issues signing into Google to get to my blog, likely caused by the issues signing into Google yesterday to get the Nest app back on my phone. So frustrating to get kept from your own programs. Had good fortune this morning when my Fitbit strap was on the verge of breaking and Bob remembered that there was a spare unused strap that had come with a former Fitbit in the drawer. He was able to replace the faulty part, even though this is a larger size, and now I can wear my Fitbit again. Food: 8:05 am Pear danish, 101 g blackberries, coffee 11:40 am Oats from gym w/fruit & soy milk Exercise: 10:00-11:00 am Pilates class

05 July 2020

Sun 5 Jul

It continues warm, but Bob opened up the house with the fan in the early morning to let in some fresh air before we need to close down again. I hope we can safely make the Madison trip today to pick up more berries at Costco and some Klarbrunn's and Seattle Cider at Woodman's, especially if another lockdown is possible soon. Spontaneously ordered the prime rib special from Michele's last night for dinner - yum! Food: 8:00 am Cherry danish, 101 g blackberries, coffee

04 July 2020

Sat 4 Jul

A most quiet Independence Day, though indeed there are still folks who have purchased their own personal fireworks to make noise at night. No Riverfront Rendezvous, no municipal fireworks, no large gathering picnics. Indeed, with the increasing number of new cases, there may be another lockdown in the foreseeable future. Food: 8:45 am Berry danish, 101 g blackberries, coffee 2:05 pm 1/2 c 1% cottage cheese w/chives, 2 plums Exercise: 7:50-8:35 am Walk to Farmer's Market

03 July 2020

Fri 3 Jul

I'm now okay with having the A/C on all day while this hot streak continues. As long as I can have my window fan at night (and Bob turns the air off at that time). We're still running the small fan in the dining room even with the window closed just to keep the air moving. Looking forward to some new thing on AC today including the ability to dive into the ocean to retrieve treasures there. Software closed down yesterday evening around 8 pm for updates so Bob only got a few minutes online yesterday. I've already had fun catching new fish and bugs since the first of the month; now there will be many more new things to explore. Good for the hot weather when it's too warm to do much outside during the day. Food: 7:50 am 1 c Quaker Oat Squares, 1/2 c soy milk, 101 g blackberries, coffee

02 July 2020

Thurs 2 Jul

Hot weather continues. No walk with Kathy this morning as Charlie and MJ are bringing Ellie for her to babysit. I get my hair cut this afternoon, so I'll walk downtown then, so I don't need a complete walk this morning, but I'll try to get in quite a few steps so the rest of the day isn't obligatory. Food: 8:05 am Chocolate croissant, 101 g blackberries, coffee

01 July 2020

Wed 1 Jul

Into the second half of 2020 already. The first half was certainly "interesting times". The second half looks to be more of the same for at least a significant portion, and then, who knows? I am glad to be retired and not as active a part of the "reconstruction" period ahead. Food: 7:50 am Cheese danish, 101 g blackberries, coffee 12:15 pm Slice Innkeeper's Whole Grain, 1 tbl Jif, 1 tbl homemade strawberry jam, 74 g strawberries Exercise: 9:00-9:55 am Body Pump class

30 June 2020

Tues 30 Jun

Ah, the return of heat and humidity (and the accompanying weight gain). Hard to stay very comfortable, even though the house hasn't gotten too bad yet with the fan. I suspect I'll give in to A/C if it continues to escalate this week. Had Pilates yesterday and Body Flow today. Usually means I don't get my steps for that hour so I blow the daily streak. Food: 7:55 am Pear danish, 101 g blackberries, coffee 1:15 pm 2 pc string cheese, 154 g strawberries, almond kringle Exercise: 10:00-10:55 am Body Flow class

29 June 2020

Mon 29 Jun

So begins a hot week of summer. I get back to Pilates this morning, which will be welcome. I believe I was able to schedule all my usual classes at the gym this week. It will be good to resume a sort of routine. Food: 7:50 am Apricot danish, 101 g blackberries, coffee

28 June 2020

Sun 28 Jun

Last night I lay awake thinking about my old bathtub and how much I liked it and hated the replacement. The replacement has never moved beyond anything except functional. It's left me feeling a bit sad this morning. Food: 7:55 am Cherry danish, 101 g blackberries, coffee

27 June 2020

Sat 27 Jun

Looks to be a lovely, sunny Saturday. Will be a nice walk to the Farmer's Market, hopefully to score good pastries. Whew! Even this early in the day, the parts of the walk that were heavily in the sun were hot! Food: 9:05 am Blackberry danish, 101 g blackberries, coffee

26 June 2020

Fri 26 Jun

Looks like a potentially rainy day, don't know if I'll be able to hang my clothes out today. I'm not going to try to get into one of the walk-in slots for Body Pump. I'll try to do some weights along with walking on my own again. Food: 8:00 am White Gull Inn coffee cake, 101 g blackberries, coffee 1:35 pm Slice Innkeeper's whole grain bread, butter, 2 oz provolone, 2 apricots Exercise: 9:25-10:55 am Walk to Schmeeckle

No more scheduled gym classes this week, though I'll think about getting a walk-in spot in Body Pump on Friday. Need to do some strength training at home if nothing else to keep the gains from the first Pump classes. Food: 7:50 am White Gull Inn coffee cake, 101 g blackberries, coffee 12:30 pm 65 g sliced deli turkey, large peach, almond Kringle

23 June 2020

Tues 23 Jun

Body Flow at 10 today with Anna. Been quite a long time since I've done that class. Need to try to find two mats of my own to take. I know I have one yoga mat, may have two. Coffee cake is good with Joanne's peach jam as filling. Food: 7:55 am White Gull Inn coffee cake, 101 g blackberries, coffee 1:45 pm 2 scrambled eggs, almond kringle, 2 large apricots Exercise: 10:00-10:55 am Body Pump class

22 June 2020

Mon 22 Jun

Went to the Necedah Wildlife Refuge yesterday; it was very nice but a bit buggy and the temperatures/humidity were higher than I had anticipated. Didn't have as much energy to walk as I had wished for. Chatted with Laura, and she was also low on energy yesterday. Must be the weather. Food: 7:50 am Almond kringle, 101 g blackberries, coffee 12:00 pm English muffin, Jif, 2 c papaya

21 June 2020

Sun 21 Jun

It's Father's Day, and I even remembered to give Bob his Versa. Since Taylor didn't get us pastries yesterday, I think I'll try to bake a White Gull Inn coffee cake and use Joanne K's peach jam for the filling. But it's a very nice day today, so if we can go hiking, that will take priority. Food: 7:55 am 1 c Quaker Oat Squares, 1/2 c soy milk, 101 g blackberries, coffee 12:10 pm Slice Innkeeper's Whole Grain toast, 1 tbl Jif, med peach

19 June 2020

Fri 19 Jun

Going to St Brendan's this evening for a slightly "normal" evening out of town. Hopefully we can get a dinner table on the patio, and they will bring breakfast to the room. The Farmer's Market will be in place, with 10' separation between booths and limited access. Going to see if I can gain full participation in the Zoom Coalition meeting today. I managed to access it on my phone yesterday with video, but didn't realize til I was leaving the meeting that I had to move to a different screen to unmute the mike so I could speak. Food: 7:45 am 1 c Quaker Oat Squares, 1/2 c soy milk, 101 g blackberries, coffee 1:00 pm 2 whole wheat toaster waffles w/butter, 1/2 c 2% cottage cheese w/chives, blackberries Exercise: 9:20-10:25 am Walk to Post Office and Library

18 June 2020

Thurs 18 Jun

Michael is 29 today. I know he's grown up because for his birthday, he wanted to go to the dentist. Also, he got engaged a couple of weeks ago. He is definitely growing up. Realized this morning that if I had chosen to wait til 65 to retire, I'd just be getting ready now. Also, we probably wouldn't have visited New Zealand as I wouldn't have taken a full month off, and who knows when/if the travel situation will be ripe to have a trip like that again. Food: 7:55 am Honey bear pastry, 101 g blackberries, coffee Exercise: 8:35-10:05 am Walk w/Kathy Bukolt loop

17 June 2020

Wed 17 Jun

Today promises to be a bit too warm for comfort. I was able to get into Body Pump with Anna this morning, so I can further ease into the old routine. Nice to think that eventually I won't be sore again. There should be ample sunshine at least. Food: 8:05 am Cheese danish, 101 g blackberries, coffee 12:25 pm Oikos Zero vanilla yogurt, cranberry scone Exercise: 9:00-9:50 am Body Pump class 11:15-11:50 am Ellis St loop

16 June 2020

Tues 16 Jun

DOMS in my left pec/shoulder today, four days after Body Pump. Probably good that I'm able to get into class again tomorrow to work on the muscles slowly. Will still give that area rest today. Food: 8:10 am Apricot danish, 101 g blackberries, coffee 1:15 pm 1/2 c 2% cottage cheese w/chives, cranberry scone, Limoncello La Croix Exercise: 9:50-11:15 am Bukolt loop

15 June 2020

Mon 15 Jun

Mostly sunny morning, still comfortably cool. Hiked at Hartman's Creek yesterday, followed with a prime rib sandwich on the deck at Wheelhouse. Gym classes are full up for most of the rest of the month. I could get into Body Pump on Tuesdays starting next week, but none of my other regular choices. Thanks to judicious applications of ibuprofen, I never did get as sore as expected after Friday's Body Pump, though I may not be out of the woods yet. I shall need to try to keep up better with strength training before the next time I'm able to get in. I should also check the app periodically in case someone has dropped out and freed up a spot. Food: 7:55 am Pear danish, 101 g blackberries, coffee 10:35 am 8 oz 1% chocolate milk 12:25 pm Oikos Zero coffee yogurt, brioche roll, 82 g strawberries Exercise: 9:35-10:20 am Walk around back of Schmeeckle

14 June 2020

Sun 14 Jun

Flag Day. Nice visit to Madison yesterday to spend time with Laura and see Kat as well. Did our Costco run and picked up food from La Brioche which we ate picnic-style on the back lawn at Laura's. Bob installed a new outlet in her dragon room for her Nintendo, I put in the new car seat covers in the car. Looks like lovely weather again today, so hopefully a hike is on the agenda. Food: 8:00 am Cherry danish, 101 g blackberries, coffee

13 June 2020

Sat 13 Jun

Bob slept in this morning a bit, quite unusual for him, so I have to wait for him before we can walk to the Farmer's Market for pastries. Having a cup of Nespresso while waiting. Nice to see Emma working the pastry booth this morning. Tried a loaf of the Cheese Bloomer bread this week. Food: 8:05 am Nespresso 9:20 am Mixed berry danish, 101 g blackberries, coffee Exercise: 8:20-9:10 am Walk to Farmer's Market

12 June 2020

Fri 12 Jun

Gonna do it; going to the gym for Body Pump this morning. Made the reservation last night so I'm prepared and psyched for class, even though it's been more than three months since I've done a class. I'll definitely use lighter weights and take it carefully, but I expect soreness in the next few days. Oh, my. It's been a long time since the last Body Pump. Even with light weights, I struggled. I was the only one in class wearing a mask, which hid when I swore. Food: 7:45 am Sticky rhubarb pudding, 101 g blackberries, coffee 1:40 pm 1/2 c 2% cottage cheese w/chives, 141 g strawberries, sticky rhubarb pudding 6:15 pm Pork chop, cous cous, sauteed pea pods Exercise: 9:00-9:50 am Body Pump class

11 June 2020

Thurs 11 Jun

Looks like another truly lovely day with sunshine and pleasant temps. Kathy and I will walk this morning, so we can get out and enjoy it. Was dreaming about lying in the beautiful king-size bed looking out over Lake Taupo in New Zealand this morning. Food: 7:50 am Chocolate croissant, 101 g blackberries, coffee Exercise: 8:30-10:05 am Walk w/Kathy Bukolt loop

10 June 2020

Wed 10 Jun

Had a restless streak in the middle of the night last night, but thankfully Ibuprofen worked to settle me back down. Finally got successfully logged in to gym app, and I see there are 3 spots left for BodyPump today at 9:00 am. In one hour from now. Not sure I'm ready. Food: 7:55 am Chocolate pecan pinwheel, 101 g blackberries, coffee 12:10 pm Slice whole wheat bread, Jif, med banana Exercise: 9:35-10:25 am Texas Ave/Jefferson loop

09 June 2020

Tues 9 Jun

Still supposed to be warm today, then cooler in the later part of the week. Bob is willing to think about travel to the North Shore in mid-July, so I'll start looking at lodging options, probably at the cottages so we can cook/eat in if necessary. Might give the restaurants there time to settle into the new normal. Food: 7:55 am Apricot danish, 101 g blackberries, coffee 1:40 pm Chobani Less Sugar vanilla, 142 g strawberries Exercise: 9:35-11:05 am Walk Bukolt loop

08 June 2020

Mon 8 Jun

Sunny day, forecast is for very warm temperatures. Just for a couple of days, though, then back to cooler 70s. I like it when we get these little blasts of summer but they don't last long enough to be oppressive. Food: 8:00 am Cheese danish, 101 g blackberries, coffee 1:05 pm Chobani Less Sugar vanilla, 159 g strawberries Exercise: 9:25-11:10 am Walk from home through Schmeeckle

07 June 2020

Sun 7 Jun

Kind of a grey morning today, we'll see what the rest of the day brings. Yesterday would have been Walk Wisconsin in the old world, and it would have been as perfect a day as could be hoped for. I went out to Schmeeckle in the afternoon and had a lovely walk by myself. Food: 8:05 am Cherry danish, 101 g blackberries, coffee

06 June 2020

Sat 6 Jun

Michael and Taylor are engaged! They came over when I was just finishing my shower to show us the ring and share their joy. I'm delighted for them, I think it's the right thing for them to do. Perfect day for a walk to the Farmer's Market. Eggs, pastries, mushroom/swiss brats, and mint chip cookies. Food: 9:15 am Blackberry danish, 101 g blackberries, coffee 12:50 pm Leftover steak salad, diet instant iced tea Exercise: 8:15-9:05 am Walk to Farmer's Market

05 June 2020

Fri 5 Jun

This week went by quickly again, back home and in "new normal" routine. It's frightening how quickly time passes by. Food: 7:55 am 1 c Quaker Oat Squares, 1/2 c soy milk, 101 g blackberries, coffee 11:40 am Chobani Low Sugar vanilla, 8 Wheat Thins w/soft goat cheese, 100 g blueberries

Kathy bowed out of our walk this morning, too much on her plate at the time. I may take a nice long one myself as it is a lovely morning. We'll see. Food: 8:00 am Mystery danish, 101 g blackberries, coffee Exercise: 9:10-10:10 am Walk along river on West Side

03 June 2020

Wed 3 Jun

Had a nice anniversary celebration by going to the Wheelhouse and having pizza on the back patio, well removed from other patrons. The staff all wore masks so we felt safe. It was nice to enjoy something that we have always both liked as an anniversary treat. Food: 7:55 am Chocolate croissant, 101 g blackberries, coffee 12:35 pm 1 tbl Jif, whole wheat bread, 2 apricots

02 June 2020

Tues 2 Jun

Today is our 36th wedding anniversary! And were my parents still living, it would have been their 75th! Bob isn't sure what year his folks were married, so we don't know which one it would have been for them. Looks to be a lovely sunny day, but oddly hot for one day only. Food: 7:50 am Chocolate pinwheel, 101 g blackberries, coffee 12:55 pm 1/2 c 2% cottage cheese w/chives, 8 Wheat Thins w/ramp chèvre, 100 g blueberries

01 June 2020

Mon 1 Jun

A somewhat grey day, though with high of 75° predicted and afternoon storms. Might consider going to the gym for a bit later this morning. No classes, but I could work out on the machines and treadmill. Opted for Jessica Smith instead of gym. Too gloomy to go outside. Food: 8:00 am Cherry danish, 101 g blackberries, coffee 12:45 pm 2 scrambled eggs, apricot, crumpet w/butter Exercise: 9:15-9:45 am Jessica Smith Total Body Workout

31 May 2020

Sun 31 May

Last day of May looks sunny and nice. Many churches are opening their doors today for the faithful and fearless, not necessarily following CDC recommendations for group contact. Church is actually one of the worst dangers since so many people sit in place indoors and speak (and possibly sing) to increase likelihood of droplets entering the common airspace. I'm glad our church is choosing to wait and that Internet church is still available where we know we have no additional risk. Food: 8:15 am Cherry danish, 101 g blackberries, coffee 2:20 pm Small cinnamon roll, Chobani less sugar vanilla, 77 g strawberries

30 May 2020

Sat 30 May

Had a great little getaway in Door County from Tues-Fri. Cherry blossoms were in full bloom for the first two sunny days, though they were damaged by the heavy rain on Thursday. We got some great hikes, seeing trilliums and tons of forget-me-nots in blue ponds throughout the forests of Peninsula State Park. Got plenty of hiking in each day at Peninsula and Newport with minimal contact with anyone else. The businesses in Door County seemed pretty universally careful with face masks, sanitizer, social distancing as the norm. Wilson's, site of an ice cream lunch post-Newport hike, even provided the small disposable face masks at the door station in case you didn't have one of your own. Their staff all wore custom-made Wilson's face masks that were fun and attractive. Even the troll statues (which have now been converted to leprechauns with a change in ownership from Trollhaugen to O'Malley's) were decked out with masks, and a bear sculpture for Edgewood Gallery sported a sheet-metal mask. I saw no negativity toward masks or people wearing them. Food: 9:25 am Blackberry danish, 102 g blackberries, coffee 12:25 pm 2 pc seafood quesadilla w/sour cream & pico de gallo, 5 oz tart cherry juice

26 May 2020

Tues 26 May

Today's the day! We're moving our "shelter at home" to "shelter in Door Co" for a few days. We'll stay at a well-cleaned unit at the Newport Resort, self-housekeeping and eating in the unit. We'll likely get a takeout pizza from Wild Tomato and a takeout dinner from CHOP and an unknown third takeout for the other evening. We're going to try to get some good hiking (and hopefully trillium-viewing, maybe even cherry blossoms!) Got to scout out whether bathrooms are open in State Park campgrounds and text Sue W so she can plan her camping excursions. Might text Fr. Tom a picture if cherry blossoms are open. Food: 8:10 am Chocolate caramel pinwheel, 101 g blackberries, coffee

25 May 2020

Mon 25 May

Memorial Day! Sunny and warm, beginning to be humid. I picked up several ticks on the hike at Steinhaugen yesterday and a passel of mosquito bites, mostly on the back of my left thigh. I sprayed with bug dope, but didn't spray over my clothes and they bit right through the leggings. Lesson learned. Looks like thunderstorms now, mostly to the north of us on this round but possibly more to come. Probably means no hike today. Food: 8:00 am Cherry danish, 101 g blackberries, coffee 1:05 pm 1/2 c 2% cottage cheese, 155 g strawberries, rhubarb coffee cake Exercise: 11:05-11:40 am Madison St loop

24 May 2020

Sun 24 May

Memorial Day weekend. A little grey outside again, but not currently raining (though it did last night). Online Mass again for us, though the Lutherans have opened their doors again this morning. I'm glad our church is choosing to be safe, though they will reopen the doors on a limited basis next weekend by direction of the bishop. If they will continue to stream the Mass, we will likely continue that venue as long as we can. Food: 8:10 am Cherry danish, 101 g blackberries, coffee 12:05 pm 1/2 c 2% cottage cheese w/chives, 1/2 Costco blueberry muffin 6:00 pm Venison chops, grilled potatoes, broccoli, Exercise: 11:40-12:05 pm Walk to NFAC and back 3:30-4:30 pm Hike at Steinhaugen
