30 December 2007

Sun 30 Dec

Didn't stay much after dinner at the wedding. Got tired and didn't feel like making conversation with the coworkers any more. Came home and watched part of the first Harry Potter movie but couldn't even stay awake to the end. Sigh!

Scale had been going down very nicely the last several days, but took a jump back up today. Probably the relatively salty food at the wedding as I can't even budge my wedding ring this morning.

Food:

7:30 am 1 butterhorn
12:00 pm 3 pc Perkins French toast w/butter and maple syrup. 8 oz OJ, coffee
2:45 pm 1 peppermint Starbuck's biscotti

Sat 29 Dec

Going to a coworker's wedding this afternoon/evening, so it will be interesting to see how well I can manage healthy eating between the meal and reception. I'm sure I'll have at least one drink, maybe two. Not sure what the meal will be, but it's at Stoney Creek Inn at Cedar Creek and neither bride nor groom are Polish, so probably not chicken soup, chicken and ham.

Shoveled all the snow myself last night so I'm pretty sore today. Don't know what I'll do if we get much more snow without some melt in between as the snowbanks are nearing the limit of my ability to throw any more on top.

Wed 26 Dec - St. Stephen's Day

Now to try to get back on track while still enjoying a few of the holiday treats responsibly. My new scale was very nice to me this morning, possibly a function of weighing in first thing out of bed in the morning which is usually considered the best time but wasn't an option when I used the scale at work. I'd like to keep it moving in the right direction!

Sat 22 Dec

Almost there.....almost there!!! Today will be a last-minute prep day. Only a few little things to buy, fudge and peanut clusters to make, maybe butterhorns today too if time, the ever-present laundry of course, time to exercise would be nice. My Spark People strategy of the week is to exercise entirely in 10-15 min bouts this week; maybe that will be a good idea with the holidays. I can keep my hand weights and resistance band around so when I'm waiting for something to come out of the oven or dryer or can spare just a few minutes, I can sneak in some reps.

Food:

7:40 am 1 c Corn Chex, 1/2 c skim milk, orange
12:00 pm Half grapefruit, vanilla soy shake, 8 oz GF Foods Dark Mayan Chocolate drink (50 cal), 3 pc Kavli

4:30 pm 35 min exercise video (10 warmup, 25 cardio)

21 December 2007

Last final is in two hours. It was nice to have all this time to study, but it probably would have been better for me had it been yesterday. Today I'm just burned out and really want to be done. The challenge now is to not pass out on the couch, as tempting as it is.

19 December 2007

Made it to the grocery store; picked up a bag of baby spinach, a box of clementines (half gone already), a few pears and bananas, and some granola bars and bread. I'm going to study at a coffee shop tonight, and they've got some sandwiches and stuff so I'll probably have some real food there. It's mostly just me shoving food in my face when I remember - like today I had breakfast, but then didn't eat again until after I got back from visiting Jenna in the hospital (because I forgot)... But I'm munching pretty much constantly when I'm home, so it's not a big deal. I honestly just wish this final was sooner so I could get it over with.

Wed 19 Dec

Michael is not feeling well; he slept from about 5 pm through the night last night and had a fever measured around 7:30 pm at 101.7. He doesn't seem to have a fever this morning, but reports feeling very light-headed. I'm going to let him stay home, but insist he spend the morning at least in bed.

Tues 18 Dec

Don't know if you have time to read this, but I sure hope you are finding time to eat with some regularity. I'd hate to see you spend your holiday break sick from lowered resistance. If you don't have stuff in the house, it's worth 45 minutes to get a ride to the grocery store to get some apples, oranges, yogurt, string cheese, cereal, bread, peanut butter, etc, all of which can be grabbed and eaten with no preparation time. I love you and want you to stay healthy and be properly fueled to do your work at your best.

Patrick is back in town but hasn't scheduled any class time and wasn't excited about doing any private work either. He's still pouting because no one signed up for class in August when we were getting ready to leave on vacation.

17 December 2007

Mon 17 Dec

Gearing up for the last week before the holidays, and thinking of you regularly. Take care of yourself during finals and make sure you get some good food in you. You'll function more efficiently so it's worth the time investment. Also make sure to get some decent sleep whenever possible; again you'll function better for the investment.

Food:

7:00 am 1 c Corn Chex, 1/2 c skim milk, 6 oz OJ, coffee

Finals

Yeah, I'm not going to be posting about food for the next week; I'm not even thinking about food. I eat something when I get light headed and can't concentrate on studying anymore. It's really pretty stressful right now.

In other news, though, Katie Nordberg got engaged last night, so we talked on the phone for a while and I congratulated her and stuff. Make sure you notice her ring very loudly if you happen to run into her at Target.

Sun 16 Dec

Hard to believe only one more week til Christmas festivities get underway. I'm taking off from work the whole week of Christmas and probably New Year's Eve too, so after Friday I won't return to the office til 2008! Just like being in school again!

If you have any suggestions of things you'd like to do or things you'd like done for the holidays here, be sure to let me know. I hope Michael and Dad and I will do the cookie baking today, but I'm worried we might not have enough since he wants to take some to his choir party and I've been requested to bring some to work. Who knows, we may need another batch at some point this year.

Cookies baked - huzzah! Dad did all the decorating and didn't even whine!

Laundry would be good, and I have some areas I want to get cleaned up, and possibly a start on some Christmas decorating.

Thursday

Up late last night finishing a project; reading a paper this morning and then I've got another homework assignment due tomorrow that I get to work on. Joy. Planning on latkes tonight, but the transit exercise will probably be all I get today. If I finish up the homework tonight then maybe I can go to the gym tomorrow afternoon...

By the by, the banana bread Rowan and I made last night is vegan - no butter, no eggs, just tofu! We made it in an 8x8 pan since I don't have loaf pans, so I'm guessing two small slices of that is about equivalent to one normal slice of loaf-pan banana bread. It's really really moist, though, and absolutely delicious.

Thurs 6 Dec

I'm glad St. Nick did good! Sounds like you need some shoring up for the end-of-semester crunch!

Finally made myself shave the Chewbacca legs this morning. I suppose my legs will be colder now....

Had an amazing home visit at the house of a new respite provider this morning/noon. The gentleman is the absolute antithesis of my preconception of truck drivers (his former occupation before retirement). The family lives in the boonies and home-schooled their children, mom handling academics and dad schooling them in carpentry, homebuilding and other practical life skills. They listen to classical music, eat vegetarian, exercise regularly. Cool people! And they keep a supply of homemade cloth slippers by the door so you can comfortably remove your shoes when you come in, and you get to keep the slippers! A friend makes them an ongoing supply.

7:00 am 1 c Corn Chex, 1/2 c skim milk, 6 oz OJ, coffee
1:30 pm Strawberry-banana soy shake, slice applesauce nut bread

Got my St. Nick stuff this afternoon, by the by. Thank you a ton! I was craving some happy dried fruit (I'm out, though I did acquire more raisins). And I fully intend to watch 300 as soon as possible... after these two homework assignments due tomorrow... and the paper I have to read and write a summary of... and the research I have to finish... and the two finals I need to study for... *sigh*

I have my (sort of) annual physical this morning, so I get to find out if the red yeast rice and fish oil have helped my cholesterol at all. Hopefully I won't need any other nasty tests.

Physical went well. Overall cholesterol is up a bit, but good cholesterol is up and triglycerides are down significantly.

Monday

Sorry I haven't been posting. This last week was a literal emotional rollercoaster, and I had absolutely no presence of mind for even homework and research, much less remembering what I ate and when. I'm still not really okay; I'll probably end up going home and sleeping immediately after my advisor meeting today, when I really should be working on homework for both of my classes.

Basically, don't expect much from me for the next like three weeks.

Mon 3 Dec

Hope you got a little rest this weekend and are ready to tackle another week. Christmas is only 3 weeks away, so you will get a longer rest.

Sorry that you're not feeling well emotionally or physically. If there's anything I can do to help or support you, please let me know. I love you and don't like to see you hurting.

My brother Mark would have been 56 today. Happy Birthday, bro!

Got the toaster side of the counter organized and looking pretty good yesterday. Seems I had just organized that area about a month or two ago, so it will be interesting to see how long it lasts this time. I'm anxious to tackle the other side, but may not have time today with Mass, Prepare Ye, and choir rehearsal all in a row. I'm probably going to take a dish of quinoa salad and a plastic spoon to eat in the car between the grocery store and Prepare Ye. Gotta love full days!

Wow, am I wiped! Thought I could just lay down and sleep at the end of rehearsal. My eyes are slits and it's not even 8 pm.

Saturday 24 Nov

Somehow I can't get my mind around the fact that today is still Saturday, but I'm working on it. Need to get hair colored/cut at noon, and maybe get Grandma's new table over and assembled, and the perennial laundry.

In looking at the calendar, I'd like to ask if you could possibly manage to come home for Christmas Sunday evening, Dec 23. We haven't yet talked with Hartmans about brunch (it's their year), but assuming we don't break tradition, it will be tight to come for you after brunch. We don't have choir any more by that Sunday, so we can make it late if necessary. Let me know.

If you don't come til evening on Sunday, it won't be that much longer and it would be very helpful. Maybe you could call Katie?

I didn't feel too good this evening either; a little achy and my head is spinny.

Tomorrow our unit hosts the Thanksgiving brunch, so I need to go in early but the work shouldn't be as stressful unless crises intervene.

Sunday 18 Nov

November is disappearing at an alarming rate. Our first Messiah performance will be a couple of selections at Prepare Ye next Sunday and then the full concert the following Friday. That's a little scary! I am anxious that you'll be home on Wed evening though, so let the time fly!!!!

BTW, Grandma is hoping you'll come to her house Thursday morning to help her put the sweet potato casserole together again like you did last year. Hope that's okay with you.

You haven't posted for a couple of days - how come? I miss keeping up with you! I fess up even if the eating and exercise aren't what they should be which the last couple of days they weren't. I couldn't get on yesterday, but I think you fixed it by giving me admin priveleges because I got in today even though it was awkward.

I'm going to try to do about 10 min of exercises at a time, no clothes changing required, on these days when I doubt I'll find time for a full workout. It may also give me more variety if I try some different kinds of things. I can even do just 10 min on the treadmill. Better than nothing (which was yesterday).

Not sure if I'll have access to a computer at the Holiday Inn, so this may be my last post til Saturday night. Expect a couple of naughty eating days from me - this trip is about having fun and revitalizing. I'll try to hit the hotel exercise room and I know I'll get a lot of walking in, but with Grandma in tow, I don't expect it will be very cardio.

I'm not feeling as bad about this Monday since it's a short week for me with the Mpls trip coming up Thursday. I have to go to Marshfield to see a couple people who are in the hospital this morning and figure out how to get them home again.

Hoping to get my calorie consumption under control again for at least the days before I go, and also get the exercise gambit back on track.

Hope your (somewhat) restful day yesterday helped rejuvenate you for another week. Thanksgiving break is only a week and a half away!

Friday

Yeah, I ate. I just wasn't on my computer after doing so.

When I cut my caloric intake down, I just went right at it. It's rough at first, but I think it works better. There's actually a diet plan (I've been hearing a lot of crazy ones lately) where you do a four day cycle: day 1 - 800 calories, day 2 - 1000, day 3 - 1200, and day 4 - 1400, and repeat. It's supposed to trick your metabolism into speeding up, but I'm not sure how true that is.

Food today:
8:30a - 2 shredded wheat biscuits with enriched vanilla soy milk
11:00a - handful dried fruit
12:00p - 80 cal yogurt cup, handful dried fruit

Happy Friday! I have a lot I need to do at work today, but it's only one more day. We have tickets to the Rosholt High School Madrigal dinner this evening; Hannah is one of the performers and it's being catered by Michele's. The menu looks excellent.

I ate some higher calorie meals yesterday and my tummy was cramping in bed last night. I think my body needs me to make up my mind and be more gradual about the calorie reduction. I suspect as long as I choose mostly decent food and keep up the exercise, it may be better than keeping so close to 1200 right away.

AND BTW, I HOPE YOU ATE SOMETHING AFTER 1:30 pm YESTERDAY!!!

Madrigal dinner food was yummy but now I'm sleepy!

Wednesday

Actually Yourmometer was an attempt to get the editors to give me SOME feedback... and it failed. I seriously only hear from my editors when I don't have a strip in on time, and it's obnoxious.

And when things get busy, I tend to not update this. Bug me if I don't.

8:00a - 2 shredded wheat biscuits and enriched vanilla soymilk
12:30p - 1cup quinoa salad, gala apple, 90 cal granola bar, 2 Butterfinger eggs

Wed 7 Nov

Hope you're finding some time to take care of yourself - I worry when Yourmometer looks like exhaustion. Remember you can be more productive in less time if you get rest and have fun occasionally.

Yesterday was a less stressful day for me at work though it's still busy. I've got some things to accomplish soon I don't dare lose sight of.

I was excited that the scale was down just over a pound yesterday, though admittedly it's done that before and bounced back. Maybe this time it will go in the right direction more than once?!!

I didn't want to bug you yesterday because with a midterm and other work, I figured you were stressed and exhausted. You should probably get some string cheese to keep on hand to keep the healthy protein up. It's easy and a better choice than corn chips or cookies (though sometimes those things feed the soul!) Just make sure you're getting enough of the good stuff to balance the occasional junk. Love ya!

Felt almost hypoglycemic before lunch today (which was late). An hour later, the dizziness hadn't completely abated, so I ate a piece of string cheese but it still didn't really resolve. Talked to one of the nurses at work and told her I had eaten just under 1200 calories the last couple of days. She said she had done that when she started her recent weight loss efforts and had similar problems with dizziness. She upped her calories to about 1500 for a few days, then reduced a little gradually but kept near that level. She had better success losing weight with a more gradual decrease and didn't have the dizziness/fatigue. I went out and bought some 90 cal granola bars to keep in the office for afternoon pick-me-ups.

Food:

7:00 am Maple/BS Mini-Spooners w/skim milk, 6 oz OJ, coffee
12:20 pm Chocolate soy shake, sliced banana w/skim milk and 1 tsp sugar
1:30 pm 1 pc string cheese
3:30 pm 90-calorie granola bar

Tues 5 Nov

Yesterday was another CRAZY busy day at work. I'm now up to 3 folks in the hospital, one still in CCU. I had to find emergency housing for someone in about an hour in the late afternoon, and I didn't even get to one priority thing my boss had asked me to do. Hopefully today will be a little saner.

Spent some time exploring the Spark People resources yesterday. Thanks for putting me onto it; they have some good information and it's good to get daily reminders.

1:45-1:55p - Walk to CS
1:55-2:05p - Bike home

Monday 4 Nov

Gearing up to go back to work after that lovely long break - I admit to slight trepidation as the pace has been hectic of late. It will be good to catch up on a couple of critical situations, and hopefully to have some new energy to tackle things.

Sounds like the Badger game was less gratifying than the Packers. I was helping Michael fasten the top button of his shirt (and grumbling that he needs to learn to do this himself) when Brett let loose with a boootiful long touchdown pass. I told Michael I will button his top shirt button any time!

You had sent me the Spark People link so I signed up last night. Hopefully every encouragement will help. I also found out that my breakfast juice glass is only 6 oz, not 8 oz, so I consume less there than I thought I did.

Food:

6:45 am Bowl Maple B/S Frosted Mini-Wheats w/skim milk, 6 oz OJ, coffee
11:45 am Chocolate soy shake, banana sliced w/skim milk and 1 tsp sugar

Quinoa Salad Recipe

Stolen shamelessly from the American Institute for Cancer Research.

Serves: 8

This substantial salad offers a healthy balance of vegetables and protein. It provides a wide range of textures, colors, and seasonings.

INGREDIENTS
• 1-1/2 cups quinoa
• 1 15-oz. can black beans, rinsed and drained
• 1-1/2 Tbsp. red wine vinegar
• 1-1/2 cups cooked corn (fresh, canned, or frozen)
• 1 red bell pepper, seeded and chopped
• 4 scallions, chopped
• 1 tsp. garlic, minced fine
• 1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
• 1/4 cup fresh coriander leaves, chopped fine
• 1/3 cup fresh lime juice
• 1/2 tsp. salt
• 1-1/4 tsp. ground cumin
• 1/3 cup olive oil

DIRECTIONS
1. Rinse quinoa in a fine sieve under cold running water until water runs clear.
2. Put quinoa in a pot with 2-1/4 cups water.
3. Bring to a boil, then cover and simmer 20 minutes or until water is absorbed and quinoa is tender.
4. Fluff quinoa with a fork and transfer to a large bowl and allow to cool.
5. While quinoa is cooking, in a small bowl toss beans with vinegar; salt and pepper to taste.
6. Add beans, corn, bell pepper, scallions, garlic, cayenne and coriander to the quinoa. Toss well.
7. In a small bowl whisk together lime juice, salt, cumin, and add oil in a stream while whisking. Drizzle over salad and toss well with salt and pepper. Salad may be made a day ahead and refrigerated, covered. Bring to room temperature before serving.

Sunday 4 Nov

Soooo nice to get an extra hour for free! Had lots of time after getting up when I felt like it to read the rest of the newspaper before getting ready for church.

Michael's recital went very well; he sounded great and appeared confident. I did tell Mary about the "Easy Street" plan. Her response was that if Michael really wants to do a senior recital, he needs to start working! She seemed fine with the song, just frustrated that he hasn't been more motivated.

Looks like we will be able to come down to Madison on Sat Nov 10 for Yuki's concert with the State Orchestra. If you are not otherwise committed, the concert is scheduled for 1:30 pm, though I don't yet have any other specifics. I have let Megumi know we will come and suggested that we get together afterward. If your schedule allows, I hope you can be with us for at least a little while that day.

Don't worry about the concert, I'm sure Megumi will understand. Also I think they will do more concerts as she said this is the "first". Maybe you can catch one another time. We will certainly call you to get together afterward.

Monday doesn't seem quite so daunting with the prospect of our visit on Thursday (and a 2-day conference to end the week). I also think my schedule is more open today so I might catch up on some of the paperwork. Let me know if there's anything I should bring from home for you.

Don't feel too bad about the ice cream pigout - calories consumed on the day you get your period bad shouldn't count against you. At any rate, you don't need to make yourself feel worse than you already do from nature.

Hope you found/find a Halloween party to put a little fun into your weekend. It sounded like you could use a bit of break.

I'm finally making that vegetarian chili recipe with the butternut squash, and if it tastes even half as good as it looks in the pot, it will be awesome! Wish you could join us for supper! (I'll bring you some in a container along with the recipe if it's good!)

Friday (Yay!), 26 Oct

Forecast is for mostly sunny, so I'm hoping for nice weather for Moon Walk Wisconsin tonight, a Walk Wisconsin offshoot to enjoy fall evenings. Dad has agreed to walk with me. It starts at 7 pm from the Plover Copps along the Tomorrow River Trail. I'm only going for the quarter marathon, 6+ miles, because I don't want to be walking at 11 pm after working all week. At least I'll make up a little for missing exercise altogether yesterday.

If you really don't have a costume for Halloween, you can always frizz your hair and wear the grad gown and a maroon scarf and go as Hermione.

6:45 am Bowl Cinnamon Life w/skim milk, 8 oz apple cranberry juice, coffee

11:45 am 1 slice toast w/margarine and jam; chocolate soy shake

Thursday

Another big research day. Sigh.

Things have just been rough in general lately; very little social interaction because people are either busy or they live with their own social interaction (Erica's around very rarely, so I don't live with mine). I don't really have the energy or motivation to do the standard chores - laundry, primarily. And as of late everything has either been "work" or "procrastinate"; I don't have restful times when I don't need to be working. I'm really looking forward to forcing myself to take the night off next Thursday, though I'll have research and homework hanging over my head anyway. Merf.

Food today:
7:40a - Cheerios and enriched vanilla soy milk
9:30a - 2 oat & honey granola bars (so hungry...)

12:15-12:25p - Bike home

Thurs 25 Oct

Sounds like you're having a rough week - hang in there, weekend comes fairly soon. At least we've still had some sunshine. And next Thursday, Pokey sticks! Yay! I know I can hardly wait.

I'm proud of myself for eating just one LifeSaver at work this afternoon. In the past, one turns into 6 or 7 or 10 followed by whatever else sweet or otherwise I can shove into my mouth. I'd love to think I'm regaining a modicum of self-control. Then I can have the occcasional snack without turning it into a gorge.

Regrettably, there was no good opportunity to exercise today. We went out to Fazoli's with Michael and Hannah and then to ACT's production of Meet Me in St. Louis.

Food:

7:00 am Bowl Scottish pinhead oatmeal w/brown sugar, raisins, skim milk, 8 oz apple cider, coffee

Tuesday

Today's another lock-myself-in-the-office day. Hopefully I'll get my work done though! And I'm glad you liked the strip - I was really happy that JKR would put an intentionally homosexual character in her books, though I'm more happy that she didn't make a big deal out of it at the time.

In other news, I just looked at myself in the bathroom mirror here - maybe it's just that I haven't been sleeping well, but my face looks really bloated. Sigh.

5:20-5:30p - Bike home
12:40-1a - Walk home (bused to campus)

Tues 23 Oct

I liked Yourmometer today - I agree it was better not to "out" Dumbledore in the books, and I'm glad she did now (although the cynic in me suspects it was a device to boost sales of the book). It gives me more empathy for Dumbledore as a human being.

Michael had some blood tests and we get to collect poop samples over the next few days. He's on a BRAT diet for a couple of days to settle his tummy down (bananas, rice, applesauce, toast). Dave didn't think it was anything serious, but better to test to be sure. He also gets to take Imodium 3 times a day for a couple of days to fiber up his bowels.

Food:

6:45 am Bowl of Grape Nuts Trail Mix Cereal w/skim milk, 8 oz OJ, coffee

11:45 am Chocolate soy shake, slice buttered pumpkin bread

Sunday 21 Oct

Another beautiful morning of sunshine - hoping for time and motivation to take a long walk. Dad and I are signed up for the Moon Walk Wisconsin on Friday night so I'd best keep in walking shape. We will only do the 6 1/2 mile leg because it starts at 7 pm and after working all week, I don't want to keep walking til 11 pm. Saw Patrick driving by in his car while walking down Patch St. He doesn't have a class scheduled - will have to find out why not.

Saturday - GAME DAY

So today the Badgers got to beat up on a little school and make themselves feel better after having lost two weeks in a row. Apologies for the moniker; I was feeling fat and thought if I acknowledged it, it would give me more incentive to change [Hobbes: no worries, it just makes me giggle]. Today was Empty Bowls day - a benefit for Hunger Prevention - and such a pretty, sunny day that I took Grandma for a drive for a couple of hours to view leaves.

8:00 Cappucino soy shake, slice of buttered pumpkin bread

12:00 Bowl of AWESOME sweet potato squash soup, breadstick, tiny can Diet Coke, and (gulp!) 3 cookies

Friday

First off I'd like to welcome my mother to the blog (that's Big Momma over there, a title with which I confess I am slightly concerned). She'll basically be doing the same thing as me, tracking food and exercise, and hopefully we'll be able to motivate each other.

I'm not going to do the traditional food and exercise and times post today, because I spent most of the day in a conference and I don't remember precisely when or what I ate. But what I would like to say is that tonight, for the first time in a very long time, I am sitting on my couch at night and actually feeling satiated. I feel as though my food needs have been met for the day. And this is not a common theme. Here is, in effect, what I ate today:

Breakfast was a plate of standard continental fruit (cantaloupe, honeydew, watermelon, strawberries) and a small slice of coffee cake with a cup of Earl Grey tea. Lunch was something on the order of a small salad, steamed zucchini, a wild/brown rice mix that may have had broccoli in it, and a piece of mushroom quiche. And dessert - I split a piece of apple-pear pie with a friend of mine in exchange for half a (small) piece of chocolate cake. ^_^

Midafternoon snack was a couple pieces of cheese, two small cookies and a teeny brownie. Dinner was half a lentil-barley-mushroom spanikopita type thing, a small boiled red potato, a small portion of a chickpea salad, and a matzo ball. Topped that off with a chocolate chip bar (like I said, craving chocolate).

I realize I ate too much junk today. But I had a good amount of real food too, and a real lunch. I think that helped a lot. I'll probably gain off of this, which is no good, but... I really enjoy the satiated feeling. A lot more since I really haven't felt it in a while. I apparently do a lot better when I'm not cooking for myself...

Friday, 19 Oct

Heading out to day trip to western part of WI - all day in the car. I knew I should have exercised last night.
Sat in the car from 7:30 am-5:30 pm with pauses for 2 home visits and lunch and a quick trip through the grocery store.

6:53 am Strawberry-banana soy shake, slice of pumpkin bread with margarine, black coffee

12:00 pm Cup of Tortellini Alfredo soup, 1/3 hot hoagie with roast beef, cheese and veggies, iced coffee w/skim milk

2:30 pm Half a large Rice Krispie bar, 8 oz gas station cappucino, 32 oz Diet Coke

8:20 pm 1 cup pumpkin pie yogurt, 2 pc buttered, toasted sunflower seed bread, banana

9:15 pm cup of peppermint tea

Exercise

7:08-8:02 pm Pilates mat

Thursday

Today is the day I lock myself in my office until this homework project is done. This class is a FUCKTON of work, but I'm also learning a lot and getting more comfortable with analysis (that's fancy calculus), at least insofar as the computer science world uses it. Didn't shower this morning (ew), but hopefully I'll be done before 4pm so I can pick up my poster for the conference tomorrow and shower before I meet up with Rowan to make dinner. Mmm soup.

Food today:
7:45a - medium Gala apple
9:45a - Genisoy protein bar
12:30p - Turkey and dill Havarti on a dill roll, chocolate chip cookie (:

12:30p - Einstein Asiago cheese bagel (Torah study)
4:25p - Genisoy protein bar

Starting Again

I've decided to keep a public blog of my attempts to live healthy and (hopefully) lose fat, if not weight. If nothing else, having to post these things to the world may help me out - no one was pestering me about my accounts over at The Daily Plate or SparkPeople, and hopefully at least someone will scold me if I don't eat enough, or I don't make it in to the gym in the morning, or if I sit around eating Oreos while I'm working on my projects for CS 766...

Food today:
7:30a - Cheerios and 2% milk (no I will not switch to skim, don't even ask)
9:30a - Day-old English muffin with ~1Tbsp peanut butter and half a banana. It was gross.
12:00p - Apple and Sunbelt granola bar with chocolate chips
2:00p - 1c homemade gazpacho, 3 strips turkey bacon
4:30p - 16oz diet V8 Splash, 8oz 2% milk, 4 Oreos (see introduction)
6:30p - 1 Oreo (see introduction - but they're all gone now)
8:00p - tomato slice with fresh mozzarella, 3 sm slices personal-sized Neopolitan cheese pizza
9:00p - 3 sm slices personal-sized Nutella pizza

Exercise today:
9:15-9:25a - Bike to campus, climb 4 flights of stairs
12:15p - climb 4 flights of stairs (going down them doesn't count)
2-2:10p - Bike home

So I end up feeling like a complete pig. But I got to have dinner with Matt, which isn't something I get to do very frequently at all, so I really don't mind the end result. Tomorrow will be better.
